The whole video was hilarious. I will explain some parts here if you did not understand any Mongolian language. 1. The very first old guy who seemed friendly and followed our Bald in the market was asking Bald money after his "helpful" tour around the market and insisting Bald use a bathroom, although, Bald did not need to as well as giving him some bodyguarding service. The old guy literally said, "I will go home now so give me 10,000 tugriks" in the end. 10,000 tugrik is around 3 bucks. 2. When Bald was in Baganuur city, or town as he was referring to, the lady was guiding Bald to her boss's room. She really thought Bald was there to see her boss. She was mumbling "I don't know if the boss is here" to herself and she finally brought Bald to the president of the city. The president looked truly confused haha. 3. Bald said it. "This place is more Soviet than the Soviet Union itself". It kills me how many drunk Mongolian can possibly bug you and ask for money in Mongolia. Ben's friend in Darkhan was a typical drunk Mongolian guy that you can find almost everywhere. It was funny when they shouted c'mon together. He tried to talk bad about his wife but the amount of English he knows stopped him, luckily. I do feel sorry for him having that problem. Thank you, Bald. I have seen quite interesting things in the video. It was kind of heartbreaking to see those youngsters, that Bald met in Darkhan, calling each other gay and homo in a clear insulting way. Dang that hotel was horrible. How come they don't even wash the bedsheets? The vodka bottles on the rooftop are common, though. Finally, here we go again. The drunken masters. Poor people... how happy they were after Bald and Ben gave them some money. The cash was around 6 bucks.
you know what bold did wrong taking money from American chihuahua dogs nations Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania and Insulted Russia Purposefully, that's why he banned in mighty Russia, I have complete video of his Investigation
The name of the cafe, "41 Plus" is easy. It is one number short of "42" which is, as everyone knows, The Answer to the most important question in the universe (cit. A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). The cafe advertises itself as The Answer to everyone who passes by, especially if they are hungry or thirsty. They avoid infringing on inter-galactic trademarks with "41 Plus". There you are.
At 38:55 the first guy and the second drunk guys are my father’s childhood friends. Both of them were boxers in their 20’s. First guy’s name is Amaraa and second guy is Turoo. Sad that they became like this. I think i will visit them in Darkhan with my father. I believe Amaraa was the national champion in the 80s.
I think your friend Chengis was easily the most difficult person to communicate with on your recorded adventures so far haha, it was really surreal trying to see you interpret what he was saying.

When Bald and Ben reach Lake Khuvsgal, you can catch a glimpse at Mönkh Saridag, the highest mountains in the Sayan Mountains. The mountain ranges' snow melt and rain feed the waters of both Lake Khuvsgal and Lake Baikal. It's only about a 3 hour drive from Lake Khuvsgal to Lake Baikal, at their closest points, from Turt, Mongolia to Kultuk, Russia, passing through the lovely and mountainous Tunkinskiy National Park. Definitely a summer place. Bald and Ben came to the region a bit too early in the spring.
I have seen some motorcycle tour vlogs that passed through Mongolia and it is definitely stark but has a majesty of its own. It’s definitely on the bucket list but in the “nice to but unlikely” section! I probably lack these twos utterly fearless and adventurous spirits to get me there!😢

@@robinwells8879 Yes, it's simply too far away and remote to make it worth it to me. I'd go to Georgia or Kyrgyzstan for their superior beauty first, which puts Mongolia down the list.
A thing I learn't when trying to speak the native language in more remote areas is that the locals are not used to hearing their language spoken with an accent, so it's extra hard for them when compared to people in more touristed regions.
Since English- and Russian-speakers seem scarce in Mongolia, Bald would REALLY benefit from an interpreter! I know Johnny FD has a Mongolian heritage but does he speak the language? Or are he and Bald not on good terms any more?
Yes, I experienced this in China. I eventually learned to speak just like a Chinese, and finally I was understood by everyone. There’s little space for a foreign accent, very unlike America or Europe.
One may have thought that Ben already found all the crazy and colorful characters around the world. And then, out of nowhere, a Mongolian with a rake shows up 😂
He is only showing the old and soviet areas. Mongolia has modern grocery stores and buildings. It is a developing country, but lot of Korean companies have invested in Mongolia.
I went to Mongolia many, many years ago on a motorcycle. That was one of the most insane trips I have ever done. My expectations were very high but what I saw just blew my mind. Can you imagine sitting near a lake in the middle of nowhere with only a few of the townspeople you see everyday nearby for years on end and nothing ever changes. Then one bright sunny day a giant bald white guy with sunglass comes out of nowhere, walks up to you and hands you an enormous pack of cigarettes, waves and walks away. I can't imagine what was going through his mind lol. Also hope you get better man. If its serious enough to warrant leaving the country and going to a western hospital that is not good. As a mongolian who speaks russian and english (and mongolian) I find this video very amusing as I understand both parties and their misunderstandings. And the many drunkards you met on the way is also quite a surprise to me as I don't go out much, I'm a introvert or as Mongolians would say 'zojig' and those drunk men scare me a lot but here you are giving money to them freely. Sure wish you'd have come to Ulaanbaatar, would have love to meet with you and talk cuz you've only ever met with those who speak broken English. Oh also, the town is not called moron it's murun which in mongolian basically means river, I'm guessing that was the Khalkhin river you visited and the parade was probably for the battle that took place there at the start or before ww2. That place means quite a lot for us, at least I believe so
I found it so funny that he somehow managed to run into a random drunk Mongolian man who speaks English lol. It was slurry but you can tell if he was sober he'd be more understandable
Inarguably the most authentic videos on the net! Ben has done more for educating the Western world on the Soviet Union than any official media . The true connection between him and the ordinary people he meets during his adventures is absolutely amazing . I am impressed how humble and friendly are the people from the ex-Soviet Union - despite the fact that they have been demonised for so many years from the Western world. I wish the war has never happened and Ben could be still looking for Soviet mosaics and Lenin statues somewhere in the Soviet republics.
they were demonised for a reason, remember the mentioned episode of the "Great Terror"? Those very nice people were torturing and killing each other for some batty Communist ideology.

Hey Bald, I just want you to know that I love watching your videos. You always find the warm feeling that seems to be missing in countries with more material "value". Can't wait for your next video, have a good one!
OMG, I grew up in Baganuur until I left Mongolia 20+ years ago. I've been to the administration building like once, and I don't remember it having a water fountain in the center. I've never been to the old Russian base; I always wanted to, but because I was little, I was never allowed. So, it is super cool to see what it looks like. Also, saw your comment defending the country, I appreciate that. BTW, i don't know if you noticed this (24:53 - 24:55), the lady showed much respect to you by putting one hand under the hand that handed you your change. Mongolians do this to show respect to their guests. You see that often when someone give you tea or airag mostly in the countryside or often during Tsagaan sar and Naadam.
@@Stolas1777I just rewatched it again, and to tell you the truth, I couldn't understand what he was saying bcs it seems like he doesn't have teeth, which makes it hard for him to speak properly. The only thing I picked up was that Chingis told the guy behind the counter that Bald wanted two bottles of vodka, and at the end of their time together, he said he needed to go home but asked for 10,000 Mongolian tugrug, using the Russian word for money. I think he thought he was a guide for Bald and asked for money for his "service". I believe (i could be wrong) he did repeatedly say "my", "me" in Russian without any more context as well.
That wasn't a waste of time! It was educational and entertaining! I've wondered what Mongolia was like myself. Thanks to you, Bald, now I know. I doubt that I will be visiting.

We often heard about help from the allies during the WWII in the form of lend-lease, but few people mention help from Mongolia. They supplied meat, beasts of burden, wool, and etc. Moreover, absolutely free of charge, it is for this reason that the Soviets helped Mongolia in every possible way after the war.
Mongolia was half-jokingly called the 16 republic of the USSR, and for good reason: the interaction of cultures and economies in these two countries was very tight. While the layman was joking about “Mongolia is not a foreign country,” the Soviet Union did everything to ensure that the most faithful ally in the east - a buffer between it and other Far Eastern countries - developed and grew stronger. Mongolia responded with help in critical situations.

I went solo a couple of years ago from Moscow to Beijing passing through Mongolia. I had an amazing time in Mongolia and was invited to two different families homes where they would give me food and let me stay as long as I wanted. Incredible friendly people even tho we didnt speak eachothers languages. Also rented a bike in the country side to get to a rather isolated resort and was helped by nomads when I got stuck in the mud in the middle of nowhere. It was a shock arriving to a crowded city like Beijing after spending time in pretty much the least densely populated country in the world.

_Golden Eagle Festival is a must-see event in Asia, particularly in Mongolia. It is a festival to demonstrate the culture of the _*_Kazakhs_*_ to the world and promotes their heritage to their next generations._
The kazahks? From Kazakhstan?.
_It borders Russia to the north and west, China to the east, Kyrgyzstan to the southeast, Uzbekistan to the south, and Turkmenistan to the southwest, with a coastline along the Caspian Sea. Its capital is _*_Astana..._*
If Astana is the city I'm thinking of, there was this book of photography taken in Astana due to its being a center of *Enlightenment.* The architecture is supposed to be incredible.
*ASTANA: THE ILLUMINATI CAPITAL OF KAZAKHSTAN* (online article)
I had saved the name of the book, expensive hard cover photography book. But now that I want to share it, I bet it would take ages to find it.
Anyway Astana, Kazakhstan would make for a fascinating trip. Wish B&B would head there. You, too.
You inspire me. Your playful but confident character is truly something I admire. Im not the opposite, im quiet the same but miles away from being like you. Obviously i wanna be myself, but having someone like you acting on in public motivates me to be myself and and not to care what others think.

One thing I noticed about all the countries that he's visiting, is that everybody is so social. We often heard about help from the allies during the WWII in the form of lend-lease, but few people mention help from Mongolia.
Mongolia asked few times to join the Soviet Union, but every time they was rejected because of bad relationships of SU with China(to not to upset China by taking of "their" lands)
Don't you mean the old soviets did everything in their power to exploit the Mongolian lands at the same time via masking it as protection from the Chinese. Like damned if you do damned if you don't. Between China and Russia there is nothing left but Soviet style cheap structures in half of it. We won't get into the atrocious other side of it.
Mongolia didn't want to end up like Tibet.
@@ThisNinjaSays_Tibet has strategic location and is the water tower of Asia, Mongolia is just bunch of grass land and desert and a buffer zone between China and Russia, their importance is not even comparable. In the end, nowadays they are 100% rely on China for export(export to China or using Chinese port for transport), and China can buy their resources cheaply without need of lifting their poverty like they did in homeland. So, i don't see China has any reason to capture this kind of land. The most fertile land of Greater Mongolia is in Inner Mongolia, where there is enough water to grow crops and develop Industy unlike outer Mongolia, and it has been part of China.
