The Mac Farms Channel is based on our small family dairy farm in Nova Scotia Canada. We farm approximately 150 acres, and we milk 45-50 cows.
We run mainly Massey Ferguson tractors, our equipment lineup is as follows:
Massey Ferguson 135, 375, 4253, 3070, and 1105. Case/David Brown 885, AGCO White 6710, and Challenger MT465D.
Great drone footage, and the 1150 looks mighty fine out discing the fields. Thanks
Thanks Don, it was fun to get to use it in the field.
Always nice to see the 1105 out working. Looks like the disc breaks them up pretty good. It's the rocks that are keeping it from being able to stay on the ground to do its job. Great footage brother!
Thanks man! Yeah there is no shortage of rocks there it probably doesn’t help any lol.
Great footage, the Perkins 6 cly in that 1105 will run until she has no more. One of the best 6's Perkins ever built. Love the Massey Ferguson 1105.
Thanks, yeah the 354 is a good engine we’ve had a few of them.
Very very nice to see the 1105 in the field, great drone shots as well
Thanks Jan, was good to get it out in the field!
The wife was at the other end of the table while I was watching. She said your a bloody good singer.
Hahaha, too funny Brent. Thanks for watching.
My neighbour back in Eastern Onterrible still runs his 1105 MF. He’s had great luck with it. Great vid Mac. Take care & stay safe. Cheers
They are a good old tractor, we really don’t use ours in the field much anymore but it’s good for on the blower and stir stick, or just as a backup. It’s not my first choice for disking but it was a lot of fun to get it out in the field again and made for some great video haha. Thanks for watching !
Looks great! We run an 1105 too, great tractor IMHO.
They are a good old beast, cheap power.
Whoa, whoops! Better the case than the drone! Looks like you got enough tractor there for the disk lol! Excellent video! Thanks for sharing!
Hahah yep plenty of power there for that disk. Wouldn’t have surprised me one bit if I ran over the drone lol
It was great to see the 1105 work I am a massey fan
Thanks for watching Dale, glad you enjoyed it.
Great video Scott! The drone footage was awesome great view and it’s nice to see it from up there. The sound of the disc is all too familiar to me, with it hitting all those rocks but it seems to be doing a good job.
Hahah yep lots of rocks in that field. At least we never turned up too many with the disk, yet.
Disc is cutting in good Scott nice to get the old girl out and reset the rings!!!! hahahaha
Lol, yeah disc is working good. Tractor is a little on the Smokey side hahaha
@@macfarms Keeps the flys away and neighbors talking hahahha
G'day great video and good choice in songs for the disking parts 👍🍻
Thanks Murphy!
Fantastic video footage 👍
Thanks Antony! Glad you liked it.
smokey love it
ol' smokey, she's a good runner but maybe not EPA certified lol
You haven't had good luck with camera equipment this year! LOL
Oh man, I'm hard on camera gear lol I was surprised that case survived that haha
Nice Massey 👍
Thank you!
Some good footage. What did you guys find wrong with the 1105 a while back? Thanks for sharing.
Never really nailed down what it was but it seems when the fuel tank starts getting low it can’t get fuel, so there must be some dirt in the tank or something. We just keep it fairly full and haven’t had any more trouble. We will have to look into it further at some point but for now it’s ok.
Nice job driving drone and tractor. Looks like the disk could use some extra weight. Again? You have fallen out before?
Yeah I’ve managed to fall out twice is year climbing into it when the step swung out. SuperDave got it fixed now though luckily lol
We have that same disk and almost the same tractor we have a MF 1085 and do run it with that disk
Yeah 1085 was just a size smaller, they had that 318 Perkins in them, earned a bit of a bad reputation for themselves.
Drone case looks pretty good for getting run over.. not something a person wants to do!!
Working up pretty good.. good enough to let the 💩 water soak in👍
No I wasn't going to run it over a second time to test it out lol. Yeah it did an ok job, it'll have to be disked up again in the spring anyway when we plant corn back into it. Liquid manure should definitely soak in.
@@macfarms maybe next time, put the case on the front axle of the tractor... Better test of it's durability 🤣😂
Ya, all you need is to cut a little and chop the trash a bit now👍
I know If it got run over with the shit spreader I probably would have left it there lol
I’ve got a 1085 that we sometimes will pull with our disk that is very close to yours but usually we use our 4020 or 806
Yes 1085 would have been same series just the smaller 4cyl version. 1105 doesn’t really notice our disk behind it honestly a 60hp tractor would handle it no problem haha
@@macfarms yeah We just used our 4020 with ours and it has no problem whatsoever
Super video
Thanks Robert.
Ran a similar size disk with a 285
Yeah the 1105 is a bit large for it lol 375 pulls it fine honestly 😎
Id like to see a lot more of this tractor and repairs!!!! I have a 1085. Im guessing the difference is the engine and tranny...idk
1105 is a bit larger and heavier than the 1085, 6 cylinder turbo. 1085's didn't really have as good of a reputation as the bigger tractors of this series. The 318 Perkins wasn't quite as reliable as the 354. Unfortunately, we just sold this one off after owning it for over 30 years.
I know I already commented once but by any chance is that a Massey Ferguson 520 disk?
No it’s a Tuffline disk not sure on model
Great video. I will be spending some seat time in my 1105 this week. BTW, What type of drone do you have?
Thanks. I use a Mavic Pro, although it’s currently down for repairs after a head on collision with an excavator bucket LOL
Nice massey is that
Thanks!
That want something heavy on it so that it can go down into the ground more and turn over the soil better
Not disking very deep??An offset might do better.
Wasn't trying to do deep tillage just chop up some stalks going into winter.
What gear do you run in when your disking?
1 high with multipower I think.
@@macfarmsI was just curious, I’ve heard of people running in low 3rd or high 1st.
Getting ready for next year's rock harvest, very proactive.
Yes have to start early for best rock yields lol
Looking at ur other vids the white tractor ye have is that just a massey in different colours iv never seen that brand before
That one is a 6270 Massey with a Cummins in it instead of a Perkins. White was an American brand AGCO bought out in the early 90’s, they discontinued the name around 2001-2002. The one we have was built at the MF factory in France the same as the 6200 series was. Another version of it was the AGCO Allis 8775 I think.
little bit smokey
Nothing an in frame overhaul and new injectors wouldn’t fix
We here in ireland would have been used to the british made masseys they were great tractors the french made 1s im not so sure of i dont think the masseys that are out now are any where near as good as the older tractors
We have a bit of both British and French built masseys. The British made ones were simpler tractors, I guess you could call them economy tractors, just basic no frills. Which isn’t really a bad thing. The french built tractors were kind of fancier I guess, more electronics on them, they had all the bells and whistles. Our newest tractor is a Challenger MT465D which is the same as a Massey 6614, we like it but there is too much electronics on it, always afraid something is going to happen to it. But it’s got lots of power and it’s easy on fuel. Heavy tractor for a 4 banger.
@@macfarms thats a conversation were having over here more and more contractors are buying tractors from the early 2000s like the 7000 series john deeres there just pure tractor like yer selfs and the states our tractor new prices are starting to be silly money u just couldnt warrent the price of it for example a silage outfit here now is worth well over a million euro and contractors normally have 2 outfits
Yeah the prices on new tractors are way out of hand now. A new 100hp loader tractor is $150k, it seems like they want everyone to be leasing their equipment rather than buying it. Really with all the stuff on them to go wrong now maybe you really are better off leasing them for a few years then moving on, who knows.
@@macfarms well thats a very good point they are made to brake now 2020 massey will not be in the field in 30 yrs time like a tractor from the 90s i think u could have a balance of leasing and owning ur own stuff it mite work that way i know here leasing is a big thing and they sell u service plans now to
Looks like a waste of good diesel DEEPER is the key
Just trying to chop up some stalks going into winter.
