- Thought I’d try the 1155 on my bigger cultivator. If you like the sound of the 1155 and the 540 v8 Perkins this is the video for you!

Never get tired of watching the red iron ladies work. The sound of that engine under load is as lovely as my grandchildren’s laughter.
Great work JT.
She sings a beautiful tune!😉
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 the Massey Ferguson’s that you have they all have Perkins engines in them?
The 165 and 1155 do. The 1805 is a cat
Great review and like your style and outlook on life. First introduced to the 1155 back in '77 over here in Blighty. My jaw dropped when it came into the yard, porn on wheels. You could hear the turbo whistling from 2 miles away when it was heading to the auction, those were the days
Man I’ve always loved the design of those masseys with the duel exhaust
Your next round on that field should be with a disc to break up the clods and provide a smoother seedbed.
And work it a different direction for a change!
They don't make em like they use too..love hearing that Massey talk..😊
Turning the dirt over all day and then finishing it off with a cold brew…. Perfect!
That’s a good day
Cool 😎, we had a 1155 without the cab. Two 1135s, one 1100, one 1130. Two 175s one 135. A 35. When our 1155 burnt-out 5 clutches in less than two years, daddy said that's enough! He traded it for our first 1135. We were pulling a 720 Massy Ferguson harrow with the 1155, it was just too much for the clutch. Plenty of HP though!
Definitely no lack of power on these!
I would rolled it over with a plow. Works well for ground that hasnt been worked in years.
Another great vid jt and just in time for lunch break viewing 😃👍👍
Thanks 👍 😉
Good video ! She just walked with that ! Love the sound too
Adding more ground, that’s great. Fitting it down with 1970’s equipment, that’s awesome. The video clip at the end was the truest thing I’ve ever seen. Thanks, J.T.
Glad you enjoyed it😉
You just can't beat the sound of the old tractors no matter what the brand. I've been over a many of acre with a cultivator just like that one.
It's more the straight pipe not age
What a beautiful old work horse sounds great 😊please keep the great videos coming friend from Scotland
Thank you! Will do!
The old Perkins just humming along there. Some days I miss my old 1155. They are a good old girl. Nice chunk of field you got there 👍🍻
That 1155 is just a gem JT sounds awesome and the the exhaust clappers are just cherry love the vids
Thank you very much!
Sweet tractor, looks and sounds great!
Thanks 👍
Nice to hear the Massey purring away 😃ps love the end of the vid with the victory dance 😂
Glad you enjoyed it 😆😆
Didn’t know it was back there ! Red n silver power house on wheels . Good video ,enjoyed watching!
She made that look easy
Very good Video 👍 👍
Happy Days JT 😊
That a Helluva difference in my opinion. Good video and plant that wheat before it’s to cold.
Looks good.
Nice, Field worked up pretty good
Thanks! Best I could do 😉
Hey Joe,,,nice to see the 1155 give the kibbles and the bits. Field is looking great.
Thanks 👍
Great video 👍🏼
Now that is a sweet sound! I wil burn feul with that thing just for the music!!
Right on!
You do have good taste in tractors. damn good
Thanks! I do my best!
Nice tractor I don’t love my 67 MF 20 but I greatly appreciate it
Awesome buddy love it
And no black smoke it's just ticking over got to make them working it's good for them
Another thing is, that engine is really healthy. No smoke, popping, no knockin like a jehovas witness😆. Really cool tractor, JT! Keep up the good work, God bless! 👍👌
Thank you!
Or Mormon
TV8 540 twin turbo marine Perkins put out an estimated 350 hp at the flywheel, worked on a lot of them in Florida, cool sounding engine. The farm that I worked at had five of them three with chrome stacks.
Now that’s a fleet of good sounding machines 😉
Great video- looks like the 1155 handled the 28' no problem- awesome to find land that close to home- love the way the Ole girl barks
Glad you enjoyed it!
We has a 1155 and that was a workhorse. Love the Masseys
Oh, i like Coors Lights too😊
Enjoyed the video.the ole girl sounds good.
Thanks 👍
“Farm around and find out.” 😂 That needs to be on a tee shirt. Awesome stuff JT.
Thanks! Maybe I’ll have some merch someday with that on it lol
Millennial Farmer already has Farm Around & Find Out apparel.
Crap. Oh well
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 found your logo:
JT's BarnNgrill "crap. oh well"
Now that is something I could do 😉😆
Tractor sounds good JT! Rough looking soil there....hope you get something to grow in it.
I hope so too 😉
A fallow winter under some chicken/turkey manure would do it good. That shtuff will burn up the vegetation. Maybe a moldboard would have been better for the sod breaking prep, but maybe it would be the same. Can always try again next year 😂 You need a mascot in the extra opening on the hood--a gnome, your favorite team, IT, Dwight Schrute LOL. This armchair farming is easy! Thanks for sharing this with us.
That’s a good idea! Now the search for a mascot 😉😆
I want a stack with a flapper for our diesel Polaris. 💪😁💪
Id be proud to own that MF ... i will never get tired of seeing this tractor on your channel.
Right on!
Kewl tractor!
Hi, great video. Always good to see the older tractors. I used to operate a 1080 Mr multi power many years ago. It'd pull that every day of the week. Also used a 4020 JD similar work and no problems at all. Now to really give her a test, put a mower conditioner or a precision chop forager on the PTO, that'll give her something to make those horses think about.
Kind regards from across the pond. Mal.
That’ll make her work 😉
Did the multi power work good or fade away needing rebuild? My 1085 is pretty much gone again. Works better in low than hi
JT I've said it before, your a nice guy, BUT more than that you are a hard Working Man! For a city worker from the UK there is some 'envy' of your life choices 😊
I sure appreciate that! All I can do is give it my best every day and look back with no regrets 😉
That tractor sounds pretty cool
Thanks!
Loving that Massey. Hardly broke sweat, and I’m a blue guy normally 😉
That 1155 is the best sounding, looking tractor in your stable JT. Great ending to the video also lol. Keep on farming around and finding out.
Thanks, will do! 😉
Sounds and pulls good
cool video pure v8 sound!!!🙂
Thanks for the video endings!!!!
Cheers.
I’m glad you like them!
I love the ending
We had a 1155 with a straight pipe. People in the housing EDITION didn't like it pulling a 20 ft Disc, a 20.5 field cultivator and a 21 foot brillon packer altogether 4 in deep. L 3rd... loud
Thanks for sharing
Great video hard to beat a V8👌👌
2 more shanks, I missed the growl. Stay safe. Thank you.
I think she’d like that!
No problem jt your wheat Will be a success !! The v8 pure noise it s cool video
Hope so!
Turd Ferguson still rules the roost.
I would have used a disk. Love the videos!
6:56 that is a good sounding tractor
Awesome! Love the Masseys. I love hearing a seeing a tractor really work. (Sell Big John and find another cool MF! 😉)
Need a set of duals for the 1155!
Duals would help that beast stay grounded lol
Are you planting winter wheat JT . It’s good to hear the 1155 out working.
That is my goal. Cover crop if nothing else so I’ll have a good base for soybeans in the spring
Good to see the 1155 out for a little run. Looking good
Thanks! She needed a little exercise
JT, i noticed that the 1155 tractor steering is a little loose. one side to the other side. great job plowing the field..
I’ll have to look into that. I haven’t noticed it any worse than another. It that field was pretty rough too 😉
Enjoy the Coors brother!!
The mountains were blue 😉😆
Massey Ferguson 1155 sounds good
Not a bother on her, keep her lit, sounds great too.
Sounds really good!!! I love the impulse thump for the V8 sound. That Massey is living its best life. Would it have been better to use a bottom plow and just till under the top soil???
Probably…
Hard to say, but it is flattened out pretty well finally lol
Mold board is best bet for sod but ez to plug w brushy stuff
Watching you cultivate a field is a little like watching a campfire. It's sort of mesmerizing. I can't look away. Anyway, I'm not a farmer, but I grew up in farm country, and it looks to me like you worked that soil up just fine. However, what do you do about all the weed seeds that are bound to be in that soil? Can you spray wheat with something that will kill weeds & not the wheat?
BTW, I love that 1155. It sounds so mean, and it looks cool as anything!
Thank you very much!
As for the weeds, I hit it with roundup a few days prior and I’ll hit the wheat with husky in the spring. And hopefully the grass won’t get out of control 😉
magnificent,,,🚜🚜🚜
To my liking the 1800 would be much more comfortable for the operator.
Seems to run pretty good. Blow by looked typical at idle. Auto steer didn't seem to be working worth a crap though ;-)
That auto steer was all Armstrong this round 😆😊
Love them big Massey work hard in a field. What is the difference or how do you when to run a disc over the chisel plow. All we had growing up was a disc or we plowed .? Thanks for a great video.
I use the chisel that way you’d have used the moldboard. The chisel is handy because it’ll break the hard pan
Chrome pipes are sweet
Man, that's great. I'm looking online to buy copies and vintage brochures of those Massey's... I want to find out more about them when they were new. I love the old brochures of those tractors. I'm very intrigued to know what wheel options they had in the election from the farmer. What tire measurements does your girl have? They seem wide... I always look at you from Argentina. My greetings.
Those are 23.1-34. I love those vintage ads myself!
Love seeing the dual chrome straight pipes. Why didn’t you disc it?
I disked it before the cultivator.
Nice one j.t did you put the mower it all first or just go straight in with the discs . She sounded pretty sweet.
I didn’t mow that piece. Just let it rip lol
@jtsbarnngrill6873 so you just wanted to play on the tractor for a bit more then. L.o.l
DIG IT !!
I think the first with ve 8 was a fordson supermager
Not telling u how to farm. But probably need to spray that ground pretty good. Don’t want a weed field in ur wheat field. In today’s world ground is ground. U can make it better little time and a little money. Another killer video!!!!
Thanks! I hit that with the sprayer two days prior to the cultivator. I hope it keeps some of the stuff down
we all like a bit of aping around, JT That MF is a beast Get it up a few more gears & make it work.
👍
Nice running tractor. Have one just like it.
What size tires are on the rear?
Those are 23.1-34
I wanna video shot laying between those stacks!! Haha! Love that monkey dance!
might want to consider a set of sweeps for that field cultivator it really isn't doing much the way it is.....
Would one of those spiked rollers help to break up the clumps more then hit it with the cultivator? Or one of those rollers with all the individual narrow rollers that kinda wobble back and forth. Oliver66farmboy uses them to break up the clumps and help to smooth the feild out a bit.
Probably wouldn’t hurt.
A chisel plow would really make it purr-I mean bark😂
That may be in its future!
That sound didn't necessarily come from Massey. You made her that way after. Nicely done!!!
The exhaust helps….
But the V8 is always the heat of a great sound 😉
Well, I’ll be dipped!
Way to let her Chooch !!
I am currently breaking a small field , a triangle 10 acre piece that is separated by the rest of the farm by the railroad. I am using a ancient Minneapolis Moline one way I found in the tree rows, the tractor is a 1030 Case. My chisel plow and field cultivator are 20 miles away.
Next year I am planting a native grass mix. Curious what steps you took to break up this sod.
Chisel plow, disk, spray, field cultivator. A moldboard plow may have been better but I made this all work out
Thanks for the response. I usually do the same as you. A chisel plow with twisted spikes, usually working it twice different directions. Then disc a couple times then the vibershank. This piece came with a JD Surflex and that ancient MM one way. Never used one, I just had to try them out
Have operated 1150 1155 2745 Massey Ferguson tractor Music to your ears lol
My son just bought a1155 runs great. We just can't get multi power to go into high range. If you have any ideas what to look at. It would be helpful.
Check the adjustment, small vertical rod under plate between feet on my 1085. Mine doesn't work good in hi range but ok in low. I believe if it needs rebuild, it's a split job. Had mine done when hydraulics went
Like Brandon said, check the linkage, I believe on the 1155 the linkage goes straight to a hydraulic block. If that’s all ok, then your charge pump pressure is the next obstacle. It is steers/ all other hydraulics work fine then your M/P clutches are shot. That is a split and they are behind the front cover of the trans.
We had a 45 acre field rented & crop on it. Landlord rented it to another farmer who would pay more. That farmer harvested the crop & sold it so he could plant another crop. It was a huge mess. Everything got straightened out in the courts...
That’s no fun. Sad that it happens more often than not in this day n age.
Even though I don't have them, written lease. I work a lot that big guys can't get to. Or owners don't want 8000 gallons of liquid 💩 per acre
Those are the type of farms we woould try to buy & fix up.@@brandonhoad9033
I say that, at 7:30 into the video, in noticed a little bit of blow-by coming out of a vent tube on the underside of the engine. Still cool though.
All engines are gonna have some
It has some. It’s always done that. Doesn’t seem to bother it much
I love watching that old girl purring but as I was watching I noticed a black box setting on the dash what is it and was it factory
That’s my light bar guidance. Handy for spraying and planting. It wasn’t a factory option 😉
What did you do for antifreeze in the oil?
I resealed the oil cooler. Hasn’t come back
Max! Ick! How about two pipe, old two stack, muscle massey, or old 50/50. Because the oil pan contains 50% oil and 50% anti-freeze. That video when you drained the oil for the first time and all that anti-freeze came out still makes me laugh.
Well, I thought Max Massey was fitting.
The anti freeze problem hasn’t come back yet
its a massey and that sound
Never doubted she'd pull for a moment. Never even saw any black smoke puffing. Did she even grunt? She may not have been the prettiest bell at the ball, but damned if she wouldn't turn a head or two at a barn dance.....................
She didn’t grunt much. I think it would handle quite a bit more 😉
P.S.,,,shes still not the gunslinger in the stable,,lol
My guess is the 1800 or the 1805 would make better agents for today's purpose filled acrimony than the 1155.
The 1805 is more comfortable
