In this video, I go hands-on with the newly released Tudor Black Bay. Nicknamed the ‘Monochrome’, this new Black Bay builds on the previously reviewed Black Bay burgundy with a more muted design language begging the question, does the world need more black dive watches?

I inquired with my AD about this watch the day after its release. 24 hours later, I received a call that it was available and was offered the first one the AD got. I went for the 5-link. I cannot tell you how good this watch is. I've had and still have a number of Rolex models, but this hasn't left my wrist since I bought it. Another thing to note is my AD allowed me to order the rubber strap option, which I should be receiving soon - so I'll basically get to experience 2 variations of this watch with the manufacturers blessing. Forget the "value for money" argument, this watch is more enjoyable to me than ones in my collection that cost twice as much. The price is the least interesting thing about it.
do you know by any chance if you can order the regular bracelet and get the 5 link? (along with the rubber) and get the trio? Here in Miami they are in a long wait list...
@@OswaldoLafee my AD didn’t seem to think Tudor would have a problem selling me any of the other bracelet options. The only challenge is they could not give me a timeline on when I am set to receive it. So it could be in a week or 3 months by the time I get the rubber strap + new clasp. Keeping my fingers crossed it’s sooner
@@OswaldoLafee also the 5 link is ultra pricy if you buy it from Tudor. It’s over a grand I believe. There are watches on the 5 link on Chrono24 that are over retail but cheaper than a “oyster style” + ordering 5 link from an AD. I love this watch and I hope you guys get a chance to buy it soon!
@@parkerholland8451 thank you!
What did the AD charge for the additional rubber strap option?
From a “no date” sub owner- if this was on the market before I got my sub I probably wouldn’t have a sub. The monochrome no date diver with the 5 link and the T fit is fantastic. I hope they release the navy blue bezel version in this format so I have an excuse to buy one
I am not a betting man but I could see that happening.
I’m still waiting on a blue Pelagos 39, I was sure that would come out this year. But I think we’re definitely going to see another blue bezel Black Bay; not sure if we’ll get all blue.
@@aslamc9288 im waiting for a blue pelagos 39 since they released the blue fxd and black fxd the only logical step now is blue peli 39, i loved the blue 42 version but its too big on my 6.8 inch wrist , im torn between waiting for a peli39 or getting a blue bb 58 or wait for a blue 41m new bb ,,,, :D so much options and they are all good
So you rather have something that's inferior to what you have. That really doesn't make much sense. The Submariner blows this wannabe away
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 not at all what I said.
First off as always Teddy has the best content and presentation on the internet.
I was able to get this watch on this bracelet. I absolutely love it! It wears like a dream and it is really beautiful, more so in person.
For me, this replaces my need for the Sub from Rolex.
I couldn’t be happier.
Thank you very much, my friend! Enjoy the new watch.
he does do a great job. very polished, and even.
As a sub owner, this is an instant classic from Tudor! Hats off to Tudor!!
good to know you're a sub owner. very cool thanks for sharing this is very important to me thanks again
@@millar320 No likes. Shocking.
Absolutely Brilliant
Cheers
This feels like Tudor making a Submariner like they were intended to made. A great everyday everywhere watch, Tudor is definitely doing great at the moment.
The only Tudor watch that has made me change my mind about the value of the Rolex submariner… absolutely amazing👌🏽
Incredibly stoked on this release from Tudor. It looks beautiful.
Boring
Haha sta tebi ovde prelepo 😂
Your enthusiasm always shines through Teddy
My dad went to the world expo in Manchester 1954 and was fascinated to see a watch in a jug of water . He bought one and I still have it to this day and it still works closest I will get to a Rolex
bro. that's way cooler than a rolex.
This model became my new grail as soon as I saw it. I'm retired military and this design speaks to me in ways I'm not sure I even understand, but it definitely calls to me.
I love this watch but since I do have a Rolex Submariner, I decided to buy the burgundy bezel version of this watch. As you said, it does wear completely different from the other Tudor 41mm watches like the old GMT. I had that watch and sold it because it just felt too big for me. It was too thick and top heavy but this watch feels completely different and I actually think it wears smaller than other 41mm watches I have worn. The 5-link "jubilee" bracelet is amazing and the T-fit clasp makes this bracelet even better than the Rolex version. This is a home run for Tudor and if you don't own a Submariner, this is a great watch for less than half the price of a Rolex and you can get it with a jubilee bracelet.
Beautiful piece here. Thank you Teddy for this video, and information.
I'd say the world definitely does need another dive watch, especially one like this. When we consider the quality, the legacy and history of the brand, and most of all, the price point.
Fantastic review Teddy. Appreciate the history, the perspective, and the details on the watch. Definitely an incredible watch.
With this addition, I think it's a perfect time to revisit the monochrome diver space and what is good value for the money that's out there today.
Hot take: Tudor is not a poor mans Rolex. Rolex has become an expensive Tudor.
🔥🔥
Could not have said it any better…well done
Thank you Teddy for your videos. Tudor is going in the right direction. This watch is a joy to look at. I just hope they release a date version. Thanks again.
Im absolutely a fan of it.. I dont own a Tudor, but that will change very soon. I can’t wait to get this watch with the factory rubber strap option. I really like it, I love the clasp too - love everything about it. IT will check the box for a good knock around daily for me whenever I’m doing things that are less than ideal for me to wear my daytona, daydate, etc.. type of watches - but with this Ill still have something on thats very enjoyable, iconic in its own right, and will go well with any outfits/style
Kakav je taman i dosadan nece ti se ni videti 😂
Congratulations on 1 Million Subscribers!!
Beautiful watch. Looking forward to your full review of the Black Bay 58 GMT next!
Great content, as always, Teddy. Mine arrives this week. Have several Tudor and Rolex models already and this one fits nicely within that collection. It’s just different enough from my sub while giving off those vintage vibes. Definitely looking forward to this one.
I don't love this one, but I do love my Pelagos 39 and I do have my eye on the BB58 (or if they do the new BB41 case with a gilt dial). Tudor are doing some great things.
superb watch. the way it wears on the wrist, the build quality, wonderful
This is a master class watch video packing in more high quality content per second than anything else out there. Bravo! And yes, I like the new Black Bay, it has a pure simplicity and may just be the one that gets me into the family.
I love the simple colors!
I got one on wrist last week and was impreased. It looks even better in person
I want this, on the rubber strap and then get either the burgundy or blue bezel insert, and that’ll be my ultimate daily/beater that straddles the line of rough and tough and classic dive/sport design while not being prohibitively expensive but also still having all the markings of a quality Swiss mechanical watch
Excellent presentation! Love that watch. Hopefully Teddy will become an authorized dealer for Rolex and Tudor in the near future.
Beautiful but the most beautiful is the BB58!!!
I am currently saving for this amazing watch. Love the black and white. My favorite watch!
I am embracing your brand more and more Teddy, well done!
I’ll stick with my 54 as my beater/ diver, had it for over a year now and still so happy with it. This is great though but I wish it was a 39mm with crown guards. I still wouldn’t need it but that would be 🔥
Hi Teddy. Love the videos and content you are putting out. Keep up the awesome work. Also have you every thought about putting a video out or looking into the Towson watch company. Would love to see your opinion on them.
Again, another excellent review and explanation on the history of Tudor and the BB Submariner. I like the new monochrome design and look, and of course, all the bells and whistles, but still it lacks pop and color. That's why I purchased the burgundy version on the 5 link bracelet.....and totally love it. Giving my Panerai a bit of a rest. Thanks and keep 'em coming
After all the cool newer releases i still have the black bay 58 and the old smiley 36 tugging at my heart strings 😊
Amazing how some small changes add up to an absolute winner!
Had it in my hands the other day, comparing it to my BB41 with blue bezel. I thought I wound't like it, basing on the pictures I saw of it. But I must say in real live its the one to go for. I'm saving up to get one, replacing my current 41. I was doubting between my 41 and the 58, but the new design sits right in the middle somehow and is just perfect for my wrist size. I love it!
Surely they're going to release this with the Blue Bezel as well. That also would be a beautiful watch.
Just bought one today. Got the silicone strap. Fits great on me and I have a small wrist.
I was on the list for a 124060LN to celebrate my medical thesis. But I ordered this on the oyster + the oysterflex instead after comparing the two. Rolex's shininess is a bit much for me after all. This could have a crown on the dial, nobody would dare say a thing. Really perfect life long watch.
I absolutely love this watch BUT it’s missing the Date!!! I would buy this on a heart beat if only it had a date function….
Great review 👍
Lovely watch. I got one of the first GMT, I love it. How does it feel this on the wrist? Need to try it... Thanks for the video!
Absolutely love it! I will definitely be buying this later in the year! I’m not sure if I missed it or not, does this model have ARC? It doesn’t specify on their website.
Great video as always, Teddy--it asks all the right questions. Personally, it boggles my mind that people get excited over the most standard-looking dive watch designs. Don't we all already have watches that look like this? How hard can anyone get for another Black Bay?
Stunning watch 🖤
My dream watches are Black Bay 58 with the red marker triangle and the new GMT 58 coke bezel
One of the most beautiful watches that money can buy
Absolutely Brilliant
Cheers

Took 2 years on a "wait list" to get my no date sub, glad i have it now because this might have been tempting before then
Just purchased this watch and am now going to sell my Submariner 124060. Having worn it for several years, I've realized I much prefer an understated aluminum bezel to the flash of the ceramic. For me, this checks all of the boxes.
No date symmetry and purity is a bonus. :)
I need to see a gilded dial version. I might have to pick one up. Not really feeling the 5 link. 3 link would look better imo.
The an owner of a 79220n I think they have absolutely nailed it with this watch & it's excellent value for money. I don't need one - but I want one.
Honestly I prefer the Tudor with the color.
Also Teddy, add a wishlist function to your website please
Another response it just don't overthink it... great watch, classic design, you'd be happy to wear it for years. a solid choice for any dive watch fan.
Love it! Looking to trade in my pel 39 and get this.
looking to buy this watch on rubber strap looks amazing great video teddy 👍👍
Hey Teddy,
Is the watch on your wrist on the thumbnail?
Cheers!
I know for fact that Teddy is planning a Spirit Zulu Time 39mm gilt vs BB 58 GMT. I’m very much looking forward to it
Are we just ignoring the BB58 blue as the perfect modern substitute for the old snowflake dial blue Tudor Submariner? Or the Pelagos 39 as a Submariner/Sea Dweller “hybrid”? I have the ETA Black Bay blue bezel and still have a BB GMT, so I’m a big fan of these watches, but I don’t see a reason to ignore Tudor’s previous models (that are still being sold, no less) to call this second gen Black Bay the new Tudor Sub when the smaller models are far more like the classic Submariners than this is. It looks like an incredible watch, but it’s an evolutionary change from the old Black Bay, which was also very reminiscent of the Submariner to begin with. Don’t get me wrong, I like this a lot, I’m just struggling to see why it’s being considered so revolutionary.
Because everyone needs a new topic and the IT watch from every new releases. Same thing happened for bb58, tissot prx, seiko spb series. Etc. Not saying watch world have moved on from them but it is always after next new thing
I was looking at this version of the black bay 3 days ago, but opted for the burgundy instead. Thought it looked better comparatively, but the black bay in black is a good looking watch nonetheless.
I just a classic model 1926 and it's gorgeous and I love it. I'm on the infamous waiting list for my Day Date from Rolex, but I may just cancel and look at the Black Bay, or the GMT Coke or Pepsi by Tudor...
Tried this and the Coke on. I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did, and it looked incredible on my wrist.
Looks great! A nice option at this price point
Please do a video comparing the new monochrome tutor to the Rolex sub both in dimension and how it feels on the wrist.
For some reason I really don't like the 5-link on these. It looks good on the BB 39/41 (non diver BB). But I'm glad people can get the 5-link if they prefer it, while still offering the 3 link.
Jubilee is for dress watches. Oyster looks way better on the Monochrome.
Love it! But would prefer it on a traditional 3-link o-style bracelet (not the riveted one on the current BBs).
I absolutely love this watch. It's the exact watch I've been waiting for from Tudor. The Pelagos is nice, but way too much text on the dial. I cant wait to see this in person. I will be $4500 poorer I suspect
I have loved the Sub for decades, I actually think this Tudor is a nicer looking watch, I would be happy to add one to my watch box.
Love this timepiece
hey Teddy, I saw all that has been released in 2024 for now and this is my favorite. This new generation of watch collectors need to get out of the habit of wanting 1:1 copy releases, I say embrace the new or the evolution
LOOKS NICE!
white gold markers and hands like the rolex sub? Will this bracelet stretch like the rolex jubilee's?
Tudor hits a home run with their new sub…I like. It’s on my wishlist.
I think this was a great release, even if I don't specifically want one. I was hoping they would also release an all blue model at the same time. I'd take that or a blue Pelagos 39. For now, I haven't found that exact right Tudor for me.
Got it and love it
Love the new 41mm proportions, it’s such a good solid no fuss watch for people who want it, and I think that’s a lot of people.
The watch aside , Teddy has Superb way of articulating Watch features and has a strong command of the English language with expansive vocabulary!
I would buy a BB but I need a date complication for daily wear. It’s why the sub date is such a fantastic piece. I feel tudor is purposely keeping the date complication out. Ugh.
A thing of beauty !
I love the slight differences between Rolex and Tudor. I usually wore a Rolex or other fine complications watches. The older I get I like watches that are unique which is why I now own a variety of Tudor. I have bought my sons Tudor watches for life events. Hard to beat the brand for the value.
Beautiful watch
I just went and saw it in person today
With my current collection, it's near to impossible to justify this watch, but it isn't stopping me from pondering "hmm, what if?" On the 5 link bracelet, I consider this to be as near to perfection as a watch can be, and a big step forward from its predecessor. Proof positive that the brand is responsive to current owners and potential future customers.
Thoughts on this versus the BB 41 in blue (M79680-0002) as a GADA watch?
bought mine a month ago, hasn't left my wrist!
I'm a big fan of this new BB 41 release! However, since i already have a No-Date Sub the new Tudor won't make my collection. However, if they'd offer this in a Blue version (Blue snowflake) I'd sign up at my local AD to get one.
Me encanta es una maravilla este tudor monocromático un acierto
Love it! 👍🏼
10/10 watch right there. No notes.
I’m satisfied with the balance between my BB as a daily wearer its cost and appeal are enough.
@teddy Do you foresee a 39mm and 37mm coming soon?
I own one. IIt is so great in person. Love it. So much so that I took my name off the sub list.
I wonder if this piece has a place in a collection with a Speedy and Explorer41. Lots of black and grey/silver
Nothing beats the OG BB58!
The best from Tudor.
Looks good, crown guards would have been nice though 👍
No. It's a vintage looking watch.
A snowflake dial would have kept the Tudor sub DNA but this is an amazing release as is, the value is insane.
I love this watch. I have had my eye on a Rolex no-date Sub for a while, and as stunning as it is, it is a little too flashy. If Rolex made a flat black version, I'd be all in. This is as close to that as I think it will get.
Love it!
Great Video Teddy, I see this Black Bay as the better Rolex Sub No Date - the Rolex Sub No Date Price in Germany is 9.350 Euros - this Tudor Black Bay 41 with "Oyster-Bracelet" is offered at 4.430 Euros with a great movement at Omega-Standard. This is 47% of the Rolex Price. I still can understand to go for the Rolex, but then you might be crazy enough to take the Tudor as an hommage daily beater ... and avoid scratches at the Rolex. Maybe Rolex/Tudor speculates on the weird watch geek behaviour and spending. Many thanks for the review. Greetings from Germany
So are these watches available worldwide yet?
New Teddy background dropped. That’s the real news.
Any idea if Tudor is planning on updating their current lineup with Master Chronometer certification? Thinking about potentially getting a Bronze BB 58 but would love for it to be METAS certified
The new BB58 GMT is METAS certified, I doubt the current lineup will be retrofitted.
I wear my watches on my right wrist, so I'm very partial towards the PELAGOS LHD.
