    Seriously, what is with the Muslim-on Muslim hate?! I don't know why Muslimah vloggers like Dina, Maira O'brien, Chinutay etc get the patience to carry on with this constant barrage of judgemental, immature, spiteful shit being thrown at them constantly! As a non-Muslim, you haters are a vile representation of Islam, seriously, well done for putting people off the idea of ever converting! Thankfully I have lovely Muslim friends who are amongst some of the most compassionate and accepting people I've ever known, they represent the true beauty of Islam to me. But consider this: many non-Muslims DONT have any Muslim friends to show them the beauty of Islam. So they come here to Muslim channels to learn more. And what do they see? The lot of you in the comments dragging your fellow Muslims and throwing judgement around as if you're the World Authority on the matter! It's disgusting and heartbreaking all at the same time. How about concerning yourself less with Dina's own personal interpretation of Hijab, and instead ask yourself why you feel the need to try to shame her so publicly for it? And don't dress up your blatant judgementalism as 'advising a sister', either! Why can't you be happy to see a fellow Muslimah do well in the public eye? And if you don't agree with how Dina represents herself and her faith, then go start your own channel! But please, for the love of God, stop turning on one another like rabid dogs. The world is watching you!! Peace and love to everyone ❤❤❤

    • @daysleeper4792
      @daysleeper4792 7 років тому +9

      Ava Lawrence Yes, I have. And my Muslim friends are some of the kindest, most compassionate, giving people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. If I didn't know them, and judged Islam solely by the comments I read online and what I see in the media, my views would be very different x

    • @Rosefn1ss
      @Rosefn1ss 7 років тому +2

      Jacqueline i totally agree, I'm a revert to Islam and love it! But I also know that this comments come from jealous people, it doesn't mean that being a Muslim you are perfect, we are still human, and when you are born into it it makes it harder to remember that it's prohibited to mock others. Peace and blessings to everyone.

    Hair health tips belowww (yayayayaay)
    THE BASICS
    - Wash your hair once a week (or even two weeks!) with a SULFATE FREE shampoo. Sulfates will dry your hair out. Also try not to wash your hair in super hot water either because it'll dry it out too. If you want you can even wash your hair with conditioner and then wash your hair with shampoo once a month.
    - Deep condition weekly. 10-30 minutes under the dryer with a plastic shower cap. To determine what kind of deep conditioner you need (protein or moisture) gently pull a strand of wet hair. If it stretches and breaks you need protein, and if it just breaks off you need moisture. If it doesn't do anything then your moisture/protein levels are fab and you can go with whatever deep conditioner you want.
    - When choosing a conditioner make sure it is silicone free. Silicones just coat the hair and make your hair seem like its moisturized when really it isn't. Sulfates can also be in conditioner so make sure thats not in there too.
    - Also note that oils do not moisturize the hair (the only one that does is coconut oil but be careful with that because if you're allergic then its going to make your hair worse) they just seal in the moisture that's already there and protects it. So after you wash, condition, and deep condition take an oil of your choice and focus the oil on the ends of your hair and work your way up. This will help protect your hair and make it stronger (in some cases).
    - When you're detangling use your fingers to do so or use a wide tooth comb. Don't you DARE use a brush or a small comb your hair will cry. Focus on the ends of your hair and work your way up to the roots. Go slow, be patient, and breathe.
    - Trim your endsssss trim your ends! TRIM YOUR ENDS. Trim them whenever its super hard to comb your hair or you're getting horrible knots in your hair. You only need to do this every 6-8 weeks depending on your hair health. If you don't trim your ends then your split ends will keep splitting up your hair shaft and cause your hair to thin and be damaged.
    - Wear a satin scarf under your scarf lol. Sometimes the material of your scarf can pull on your hair and cause it to fall out. If you have curly hair especially, do this. Cheapo ones at the beauty supply store work amazingly.
    - Protect your ends by putting oil on them, trimming, and braiding and tucking them into your bun or style under your scarf so they don't get damaged.
    - Use a heat protectant before you use any form of heat styling! Even blowdrying!
    FOR BALD SPOTS
    - Oils like peppermint oil will stimulate the scalp and promote hair growth. Jamaican Black Castor Oil is really good for growing hair too, castor oil works too but the Jamaican variety is better. Neem oil also works too with growing hair.
    - Where there are bald spots make sure the hair around it isn't too tight because tension can further exacerbate the problem.
    - Massage your scalp for 2-10 minutes to promote circulation in your scalp which also promotes hair growth. Use one of the oils above to stimulate it even more.
    - Put peppermint oil in your shampoo and conditioner to give it an extra boost.
    FOR DRY ITCHY SCALP
    - Dilute ACV (apple cider vinegar) in water and give your hair a final rinse with it in the shower. This will help restore the PH in your scalp which will help. You can also put it in a spray bottle and spray it all over your scalp, leave it on for 10 minutes, and then wash it off in the shower.
    - Oil your scalp with tea tree oil, it'll also help. So will coconut oil. These are anti-bacterial oils and they will help with the scalp issue as well. If tea tree oil is too strong then dilute it with water, if it still isn't doing you any favors then switch to coconut oil.
    - Scrubbing your hair with baking soda can also help. Make a paste with olive oil and baking soda and give your hair a light scrub and then leave it in for 10-15 minutes before washing it out.
    - Aloe vera can also help soothe an itchy scalp as well.
    I really hoped this helped anyone out there! Healthy hair is a necessity for any style you're trying to do with your hair and for a peace of mind lol. This got a bit long but this is everything I know.

    our local Mosque had a doors open day a few weeks ago where non Muslims such as myself could come and learn and see the buildings. It was amazing. One of the things they did was fit women with Hijabs and explain different ways of wearing the scarf. I tried it and loved it. My two daughters were there and loved how it looked and I was telling the lady how I wanted to do a social experiment and wear one for a week to see what the reaction of the public was. My eldest daughter said she was scared for me to do this in case someone was mean or attacked me. The lady just smiled at us and told us her own experience wearing one and it wasn't all nice . I love the idea of modesty and femininity behind it but there are still so many misconceptions about it. I HOPE one day it is just accepted.

    People need to realise, saying one should not wear hijab if they don't wear it "properly" is basically like saying, don't be a muslim if you are going to "sin". These remarks are the reason why some people don't wear hijab at all.

    I'm not Muslim but I would suggest wearing some sort of thin silk/satin scarf under the hijab, because my hair is natural and cotton tends to dry out the hair and cause breakage, silk and satin retains moisture. So in normal cases of breakage, you guys can try it and see if it helps.

    • @astrat2532
      @astrat2532 7 років тому +5

    ugh, my hair is so crappy under my hijab. I've been watching youtube hair tutorial videos to see how to properly care for it and style it but whenever I try on my own, it just kind of turns into a mess and then my mom walks in like "what on earth are you doing to your head?" And the female hairdresser part is SO TRUE! I cut my hair short a few months ago because I wanted to have nice bangs and to look cute but I hated that haircut SO MUCH (my mom said I looked like a boy and I didn't even have bangs like I wanted) and now I'm trying to grow it out again. I swear the problems never end.
    PS. Dina, you look SO GOOD in this video. Love the hijab colour and makeup look

    I don't wear a hijab but I did have hairloss so I wanted to share. You never know if it helps ;) we're all women here helping eachother out.
    When I had my hairloss problem my docter told me women always experience some hair thinning in their twenties because that is they time you are at your most fertile and your hormones give their last big surge.
    I had it for a few years and my hair got so thin. I started taking hair vitamines which helped and started using a silk pillow case. Silk and 100% cotton are really good for the skin and hair because they are very gentle and especially cotton breaths.
    I also did the same thing where I always wore my hair in buns and ponytails, so that really does pull a lot. What I found was that if I put it up with spin-pins (those spiral bobby-pins) my hair was secure but it didn't pull as much.

    The worst thing has to be, being a black girl, trying to go natural and trying to hide a two strands flat twist under your hijab! You sisters with the silky hair have it easy. Having Afro hair under here is hard work. Dryness and breakage is so prominent with Afro hair too, because of the naturally dry strands rubbing against cotton. Wear silk under scarves sisters, it'll help you avoid the edge breakage from wearing a hijab. ✌🏽️

Also, since you're a mom, how will you teach your daughter about hijab? Im a 24 years old Muslim Moroccan girl, I started wearing Hijab for a year now, and my mother is not a hijabi, also you can find the opposite, so it's all about convition and the understanding of the hijab and it's meaning.
      The Hijab is not only wearing a scarf, it's a life style. I know lot of girls who started wearing it and then took it off, because they were either forced to wear it, or not convinced 100%.
      When it comes to daughters, they will eventually go on the right path if you raise them right, if you raise them with principles, because in Islam it's forbidden to force your daughter to wear hijab, unfortunately it's not the image Muslims give, because if the majority of Muslims nowadays apply the real rules and principles of Islam, well they will be great.

      Zainab Rafi why don't you look into the hijab and make an informed decision...your not meant to be doing it for your family....if it was for family I wudnt be doing it too...it's for Allah!! It's Allahs command ...do it for the right reasons so you can rewarded

      I'm well aware that you're not supposed to do it for your family hence me not wearing it even though my mother does. I just think people are way too interested in the physical performance of the hijab rather than the moral one and that bothers me. Inshallah, I'll wear the hijab sooner rather than later but thankfully I have the right not to.

    I'm not Muslim, but I always feel hijabi women are so lucky because they can protect their hair. I'm a Black girl with natural hair and I always wish I could just keep my hair in twists, cover it and not have to worry about it. I think Hijabs look really nice and people get so creative with them. So yea I'm definitely one of those people who think you're lucky lol

      SingDea I hope you are well. You don't have to be a Muslim to wear Hijab. There are plenty of women out there who are non Muslims, yet wear Hijab or some sort of head covering like a turban style. You dont have to label your head covering a Hijab. Afterall, is is a piece of material/fabric. There is a lot more to Hijab then the head covering. It is a journey of the inner soul and outer body between a Muslim woman and her Lord. Have a nice day. :-)

    • @SingDea
      @SingDea 7 років тому

      TheCreatureOf Allah Thank you, I am well and I hope the same for you. Yes, I know many religions and people in general wear different head coverings. I just feel often it's an aspect of a culture (religious, ethnic etc). I understand they are pieces of clothe, but I wouldn't feel comfortable styling it in a way that represents a culture I'm not a part of.

    I've worked with many people with the issues associated Tension Alopecia, both hijabi and not as a hairstylist. A few things that have shown improvement include: slightly altering bun placement daily, skipping hair elastics on buns and using 3 inch pins to secure (seriously, 2-4 well placed amazon pins can lock it down all day), braiding any long length rather than always twisting, changing or adding a part in your prep.
    We're definitely creatures of habit, so a little variety in addition to scalp care like Dina spoke on is key. I'm not a big fan of shampoo personally, I've found that my scalp and hair react better to baking soda/apple cider vinegar rinses and many of my clients do too.
    Hopefully this may help you suffering from some of the hair issues! All my best : )

    I think this video talks about an issue without directly calling it what is: self-care. Hair and skin and overall physical body require maintenance. There are many alternatives to why people's hair changes into their 20s unrelated to hijab. One is during puberty our hair gets much thicker than it will be for the majority of our lives. Hormones will make hair be a texture and thickness not actually akin to our natural hair. Another reason is the environment. Pollution, smog, smoke, sun exposure, low air quality all have an impact on hair. Hijab does protect our hair from some of these physical elements but it's not a perfect barrier. Stress/anxiety also causes hair loss, grey hairs, thinning etc. Most importantly hair require care. Most people shed hair but with hijab our hair gets caught because it's up all day. We have to comb regularly to remove the shed hairs, do it in the shower with the conditioner in it. Stylist recommend people get a trim for dead ends at least every 3 months. Hijabis rarely cut their hair and let it overgrow unhealthy hair. We all have to take the time to care for our hair and bodies in general. Good tips for doing such things Dina xo

    I don't wear a hijab but my hair was thinning at the start of college and my hairdresser recommended this shampoo and conditioner called nioxin and I've been using it for over three years now and my hair is thicker than it has ever been in my life. It stimulates the follicles that are either clogged or not growing properly and lets your scalp breathe and your hair grows so well. I'd definitely suggest that to anyone with hair thinning problems!

    Dina!! :D I experienced a ton of hair loss at the back top aka crown of my head, where it rests against a pillow. My hair was past my waist but only a couple of inches long at the crown from breakage. I only wear a scarf a couple times a week so it wasn't the cause but the friction of the undercaps didn't help. SO, MY TIP: I noticed a HUGE IMPROVEMENT after just changing my pillowcase to a SILK cover, drinking more water, and putting my hair in a loose braid tucked into the back of my shirt (instead of a bun and undercap). The friction against my dry hair was causing it to get all matted up, especially at night. Now it's not 100%, but is much much better. So if there are any girls out there that notice when they wake up in the morning their hair is super tangled at the crown, I'd highly suggest getting a silk pillowcase and drinking more water. Or if not, ditch the undercap/bonnet and do the braid thing :D I got my pillowcase off Amazon. Also, I did a bunch of research and if you take a hair vitamin, make sure the first ingredient is NOT a sugar otherwise it's junk. It should have vitamins similar to prenatals. Oh boy this is long HEHE.

      Xxmakeupisawesomexx Hey beautiful, honestly hijab cuts half your time of getting ready in half (in my opinion,) also the looks people give shouldn't have an impact on you cos if you think about it whether or not you cover, they'll still have opinions on your hair, clothing etc. Thus don't give a poop and just carry on, after months you'll get used to it and won't ever want to take it off. Furthermore, what you can also do is watch an Islamic lecture on modesty everyday which will motivate you in keeping it on.

      @Heynatashaaa 7 років тому

      My hair is definitely the healthiest it's ever been since putting on the hijab. If you color treat or use heat on your hair then of course it's going to be damaged. And I don't believe wearing hijab causes hair loss or any sort of damage to the hair. Everyone sheds hair daily and most don't even notice it, but when you wear hijab you see all of it at once and it seems like so much when in reality it's the same amount that you would have lost without the hijab. I think some (not all) hijabis try to find excuses to take the hijab off or to dislike it. If you don't like or don't want to wear hijab just own it and quit making up reasons.

    Please don't feel offended - this is pure out of curiosity: I had a conversation with another muslim girl (not a hijabi) a while ago and she went absolutely crazy when I mentioned that I loved the hijabi's with the bit of hair out. Why was she so offended? Are there "rules" which make you a good or bad muslim? Is it a modern thing to wear your hear out or is it a rebel thing? I'm so curious! And once again - out of pure curiosity! Love ya Dina, keep up the hilarious vids. X from ya snapchat fam.

      Celina Capri it's not that there is rules that makes a hijabi good or bad muslim but the rules of a hijab are so clear, you should cover everything except of your face and palms and having a little bit of hair out is considered as a break of a hijab rule but it doesn't make anyone good or bad..

    • @samantha.mariam
      @samantha.mariam 7 років тому +60

      I'm a convert and from my understanding there is a huge divide in opinions regarding this matter. The fact is, the word 'hijab' was never mentioned in the Quran. The direct translation of the verse is "say to the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their chastity and not to display beauty except for what is apparent and to place their 'Khumur' over their breasts (cover the breasts). Khumur is a scarf that is placed on the head. And for the believing women to draw their cloaks close around them (cover the body) so they may be recognized as muslims and less likely to be harassed. So covering the hair and neck is argued upon since it is not specifically mentioned..... In any case, I think that if this is what Dina is comfortable with at this point in her journey then people should leave her be. I hate seeing comments saying that she or any woman that doesn't abide by an individual's view of how the hijab should be worn should just "take it off" - I think that is sick. Even the Quran was revealed in stages and not all in one go. People grew into Islam and it took time to adjust. So the people who are like "either wear it right or take it off" are actually extremely wrong as even Allah brought Islam one step at a time. Sorry for the long essay but I just wanted to give a thorough answer :)

    Can you take the scarf off if you're chilling in the house with a non Muslim female friend? Or is it female Muslims only? X

    i have a question?
    hijab means to cover your beauty right? why do hijabis wear makeup then, doesnt that defeat the purpose or am i wrong?

    Thanks for making a video about it! I've always wondered about how the hair thing is like when you take the hijab off at home and stuff :)

    If a hijab is for covering your hair and modesty, why do you show the front part of it? Isn't that counter productive? This isn't a hate question, I'm genuinely curious. I've seen a few people ask you, maybe it was their tone or approach but you haven't given a straight answer yet. Thank you :)
