I told my Dr I was doing Carnivore to reverse blood test markers for Graves Disease - Autoimmune. She said try whatever you like, but make an Endocrinologist appointment. No one was as shocked as my Dr when 6 wks later ALL MY BLOOD WORK CAME BACK PERFECT. Told me to cancel my specialist appointment.

The opposite happened for me and was told get off this diet immediately, A Metabolic Panel was done and I was told
my perfect diet is Low Fat, Low Protein and high Vitamin C. This diet is not for everybody. I feel really good on the
      proper diet for me.

Steph, I've been Carnivore since the end of July (2023). Had fibroid breast cysts, and in the previous year and a half, began to have horrible burning pains that would strike out of nowhere. Would nearly incapacitate me until the pain passed. Since getting on Carnivore, and doing the 2 drops of iodine a day, I have had NO breast pains!!! 👍

Interesting on the carbs vs fiber. I'm having a colonoscopy this week and the instructions for two days prior to the colonoscopy are no fiber (veggies of any kind), but eat only meat or eggs. This fits in perfectly with what you were talking about.

There's a lady rancher who is 85 yrs old and has been doing carnivore for 65 years. She was interviewed by Dr Chaffee on UA-cam. Also, another 80 yr old lady interviewed by Nutrition with Judy Cho. There are more older ppl who have been doing this way of eating before it became a thing like it is now. They definitely don't look their age.

Speaking to Steven's comment about many people not being armed with the proper vocabulary when speaking with their physician, I was chatting with my dental hygienist recently, who "claims" to also be a nutritionist. She told me that the brain requires sugar to function properly. Being somewhat at a loss for words, I blurted out "we'll, I guess I'll just have to continue on being stupid".😊

    • @littleone31917
      @littleone31917 8 місяців тому +5

I love your response! Sugar us a major contributing factor to Altzheimer's, and the brain is made mostly iof cholesterol! Not sure where the heck she got that "the brain needs sugar." My head hurts when I ear sugar! That can't mean something good for my brain.

Great idea for a video. I purchased Dr. Berry's Common Sense Labs "book" a month ago and will, like you, bring my labs list in and have the carnivore discussion with the doctor and nurses. Dx with Type 2 diabetes in Jul 2023 and immediately changed my lifestyle to carnivore. Lost 50lbs so far and have 25 lbs to go for ideal BMI. I suspect my A1c, lipid panel & fasting glucose (they didn't check fasting insulin on original labs) have all migrated back towards "normal" ranges. We shall see. I do know the nurses will freak out over the weight loss at least 😂 Your doctor visit experience has given me hope in my doctor's office. If they dont agree with my WOE choice, well, I'll find a doc's office that will help me on this health journey to reverse T2 Diabetes and sustain this way of life.

I'm like Steve with the inflammation, my main problems are the carbs they kill me. One thing that I do is I buy European flour (our flour has additives that are banned in Europe) I only use it for coating things. I watch Tic Tok videos of people in other countries (mostly UK) and they tell what things that we have that are banned there because of the harmful ingredients. One thing that I don't understand is why companies like Quaker or Mountain Dew make one version of things for us that are banned in the UK but for Europeans they make a healthy version for them.

I told my doctor about carnivore, and asked for labs, he said i had not been on it long enough to make a difference but for me to keep taking my statins. Lol on another note, my chimney sweep guy just told me that he started having seizures in the last couple of years and they have him on meds that are making him feel crazy and feel suicidal and won't switch him. So i told him about carnivore and he was wondering why his doctor has never recommended a diet change. I forwarded him some videos to get started on his research and i told him to please keep in touch with his results. 😊

What I find so fascinating is that doctors are always concerned for our long term health on the carnivore but they don't in turn worry about the long term impact of the SAD. They still preach the party line. They don't realize the long term health of SAD is why America is metabolically compromised.

Oh my visit this week didn't go well. Md first statement "It's not sustainable", 2nd " Your brain needs carbohydrates to function" I countered both but couldn't quote articles/studies.
Then EKG showed I was in A fib and i was immediately put on blood thinners and Beta blockers and to repeat EKG in 2 weeks. Labs did show i was hyperthyroid and i have stopped thyroid med for 2 weeks then resume lower dose and repeat panel in 6 weeks. I forgot to ask for magnesium level.
Been Carnivore since August 1st. A1c now 5.3 down from 5.8 and down 15 lbs. (45 lbs since 1st of year with IF and slow adaptation from SAD to low carb to paleo to ketovore) I have another 50 -60 lbs to go depending on where my body wants to set at. The "thumpiness" has been going on for over a year every 6 weeks or so but was never captured on EKG or stress test or event monitor.
Next visit i will go with references in hand...
Dr. Cywes says less polarizing term would be 'euglycemic'. I will learn to read the room and play my cards closer to my chest.
She was aghast at the lipid profile- I was not. Now to find a cardiologist that will work with lifestyle modifications. Years ago i had tried 3 different statins and I'm not able to take them due to muscle/joint pain.
Great visit for you Stephanie i wish to be as articulate.

if on SAD with lots of carbs try lowering them down to say 100 g total carbs a day for 7 -14 days and a 7 to 14 days before going Carnivore reduce down to 20-30g carbs - Doing it gradual may reduce the effects of the Keto Flu as you become fat adapted - Dr Berry and some others suggest this - info only do your own searches eg "keto Flu"

YESS! I noticed the same thing after I started supplementing iodine. I always had some breast tenderness that if my husband squeezed me too tight, I would wince. That is all gone now. I notice when I stop with the iodine, the tenderness comes back! Liver is also a great source of vitamin C which is why I don't feel the need to chase my husband around with fruit he doesn't like. I do grab a few berries here and there for myself until I can handle eating liver.

I have high iron and went to see a specialist and he did more bloodwork and said that the high irion can also be do to other underlying conditions such as thyroid, arthritis which I have and other autoimmune diseases. For sure use iodized salt. Mortons is perfect. I had all kinds of problems for 18 months (several years ago) and figured out it was due to low iodine. My docs never caught it. The US is the only industrialized nation that doesn't require iodized salt to be used in food production. Low iodine will throw off your thyroid and you can get a goiter. I caught mine when all my results were "low normal" which was not normal for me. It's hugely important.

Morton’s salt is highly processed and bleached. Stick with Redmond real salt. It’s far superior. I take a 12.5 capsule for iodine. I feel so much better since starting carnivore and changing my whole life.

He wants me to take some meds to lower the LDL. I don't get high blood sugar anymore. He hasn't checked me for Vitamin D for a long time even though I was deficient at one time, so I am going to take this list and ask that I can have whatever ones they didn't test me for if they can.

Yes! Whatever you do, don’t take a statin until you do your own research about them. I don’t know what exactly they do but everyone talks about them like they’re awful for you! I believe the test is called a CAC and it checks for actual plaque on your arteries and doctors drop the push for statins when they see you’re free and clear in there

I'm allergic to shellfish.I have been avoiding iodine because I was told that I was allergic to it. I had a IVP with contrast in the 1980's and I had a severe allergic reaction. My arm felt like it was on fire and when they asked me how I felt. I said sick and then I started convulsing and throwing up uncontrollably. I thought they were turning the lights off because everything went dim on me. Then the doctor told me I was highly allergic to iodine and to never get an IVP with contrast again and not to eat shellfish. I was never allergic to shellfish before that. The doctor said I got like 100 times the amount of iodine that I would have naturally. I have been trying to avoid iodine but I'm not low. Thanks for sharing the lab work list with me.

I’ve been watching so many videos on iodine and I can’t remember which ones have mentioned what (I’ll try to find the one I’m thinking about-can’t remember if it was Dr berry or chaffey or who it was) but they said many people who believe they’re allergic to iodine actually aren’t! It’s really rare to be allergic to actual iodine but they react to whatever it was they said in the video that was in the iodine contrast or whatever it was that was with it. Definitely talk to your doctor! Maybe they can test you! ❤️ (Almost all salt is iodized it’s so rare to actually be iodine itself you’re allergic to-not a doctor! Just been learning so much about it 😆❤️)

I just got my normal labs done. I wish I had this list to give my Dr., maybe next time. I go in to talk with him next week. I know that my total Cholesterol and LDL are through the roof. 😁 But, all the other tests are GREAT. No indications of the LDL being the small dense type which is dangerous...All indications are that I have big fluffy LDL, so no problems. The VLDL is low, as well.
Also, those of us who are over 55 or so and have high cholesterol levels, have a BETTER life expectancy and less risk of heart attack/stroke than those with low cholesterol.

A good rule of thumb when starting carnivore is 80:20 lean meat to fat - a lot of fattier cuts are already 20% fat. Or to put it another way match grams of protein (actual protein content not meat grams) with a gram of fat. If yoyr stool is too hard then add more fat, if its too loose then eat a bit less fat.
I also started getting cramps - as i tend to only eat once or twice a day it meant i wasnt getting electrolytes for 16-18 hours a day - i now put salt in my drinking water and sometimes it tastes sweet, thats how i know i need it. Cramps are now gone, no need for the expensive electrolyte mixes, just good quality sea salt or pink salt.

Dr bright explains the need for iodine in great detail. She said everyone needs it, everyone is low, it’s linked to ovarian cysts and finrocystic breasts in women. Also, the glucose molecule and vitamin c are so similar that sugar binds to vitamin c receptors (like the thyroid, causing hashimoto’s), so people who consume sugar need way more vitamin c than people who don’t.
