Ever since I can remember, I've been interested in fencing. After disappointedly viewing only portions of several 'instructional' videos, your's was the only one that gave actual instructions on stance, etc. I was prescribed a muscle relaxant, a few years ago, after going through lithium toxicity. Previous to that, I injured my lower back several times after my stint in the military. I was doing floor Pilates prior to the muscle relaxant. But the relaxant must have created some nerve issues with having to getting back up from the floor, or even a kneeling position unless I have something nearby to assist me in such. I'm hopeful that the exercises, that you have exhibited, will cause me to be able strengthen my lower back as well as my upper thigh muscles. Thank you for posting this! I really wish that you had your own channel with sponsor support instead of the other way around.
Thank you for sharing this. I'm 35 and just started Eppe to improve my focus and confidence. These help me so much as a novice to help target the muscles I'm having trouble with.
Are there any specific workouts for the knees? Since I started fencing i have pain right above the kneecap itself, and pain in the left knee from the heel to heel angle, which my body is not used to.
In terms of the right-knee pain (assuming you are right-handed) you might be lunging too much. You should ask somebody to check if you are OVER-lunging. Your knee (at maximum lunge) should never be further forward than directly over your heel. If in doubt, lunge less -- in practice don't try and go 100% all the time. :)
These are great exercises, but this would have had a lot more replay value if you held the exercises for the length of time indicated and provided a count down timer for each position on each side.
Excellent routine for any martial artist. Stealing it for my HEMA club. 🙏

Thank you for this! I’m going to try and work towards being an Olympic sabre fencer, and I needed some exercises to help shape up!
I believe in you

@@thejxc No it's the left knee only :/ because I'm a historical fencer my lunges aren't that wide like in sportsfencing..
@@BlutrothTry getting massage therapy and make sure they do the IT bands. It could just be general tightness. Take up yoga too. 👍
