I'm here for because fencing will help me with my footwork in boxing.
Same bro, trying to incorporate this to my training
Yep and ballroom dancing will help as well, some people will laugh but a real fighter will understand what ballroom dancing will for your feet, every boxer knows good fighting starts with the stance and feet!
@@victorglaviano You are SO right on the ballroom dancing aspect - so much of it is spacial relations vs. your opponent - I"m here for the help with Kendo :)
@@brettliddle4061 ...man I lived in Japan for almost 10 years and I can't believe I didn't do 3 things....Learn kendo, get traditional japanese tattoos and get an original Katana made from the 4th or 5th generation swordsmiths. cost about $6,000 (700,000 Yen) but probably worth double in the USA ! I always thought, I got plenty of time and sadly, time ran out! But I did learn Judo from a Judo-master ( "judoka") from a probably 60 year old, 5'5" Japanese man that could toss 6'+ guys like nothing, low center of gravity is crucial in JUdo, whether you create by dropping your center of gravity or naturally short!
my coach throws wrenches at my face. yall are dweebs. if this is my fighting competition .. dancing fruits & stick fighters.
we ova here gone be eat'n good
Thanks for Your Presentations
A little bit tired, but I guess I could use this every day when I want. University gym is a good place to practice, but our school seems to have no fencing club...
That en garde position reminded me of my first anatomy class..

Bro I'm deceased. I've never worked out so hard in my life darn why did my fat ass decided to learn fencing 😭 anyways my momma didn't raise a quitter.
What a fine specimen of a fit athlete you are, a good model for all fencers to emulate through exercise and repetition. Thank you for all your videos. it is the basis for me to develop drills for my Alma mater's women's fencing team. Bravo!
This guy is so pro he forgot to spell beginner correctly
If dollars weren't so expensive right now I certainly would be a patreon!
Coach Tyler! This is exactly what I was looking for!!
I'm new to fencing and look forward to working these excercises in to my daily routine. Thanks

I had planned to do this in my apartment until I got to 10:03 and realized the downstairs neighbor would never forgive me lmao
I’m the assistant coach for NHFC in the WPA division. This is a great video series! I’ll definitely be sharing this with my fencers for home workouts during this pandemic.
Bonjour. Merci beaucoup pour ces explications très claires.
I'm looking for leg explosivity training, do you have some videos about this? I want to learn to move very fast!
Thank you for uploading this. I've become the warm-up leader for my local fencing club and will definitely be using some of these to torture my peers ;P
Why do micropushups for #8 instead of a full pushup every time?
DeagleBeagle in fencing you need small, fast and controlled arm and hand movements. The micro pushups will help you develop that.
@@FencersEdge okay I appreciate the feedback I was kind of thinking the same thing
My dream is to become a fencer and since their is a pandemic it’s kinda expensive these days so I was googling fencing footwork for beginners and then this came up thank you so much! Cause this is so helpful!

My gun nut buddies get confused when I tell them I've never owned a gun, but used to be pretty good with a sword! 🤣
Seriously, I was in the best physical shape of my life in my 20's when I took fencing classes in college. 30 years later and ridden with sciatica and spinal / shoulder arthritis, I'm hoping that videos like this inspire me to get back to feeling healthy. 👍
Gun??

JKD basics
I fenced for a year but it was in my college's club during covid, so I didn't get much practice. I'm kinda out of shape, and I have about 2 months to get better. The practices are 3 hours long and I'm going to 3 of them per week. On top of this, is there anything else I should be doing?
Thank you, my good man.
I'm here because I really want to learn fencing. I recently watched a kdrama on fencing and I've been obsessed with it. There aren't any places where they teach fencing where I live, so I have to learn it in my home. I'm planning to move to a place where they teach fencing, hopefully my parents allow me.
Same as me even in my country there aren't any places where they teach fencing
@@seomin7minaah I feel you 😢
Are you still working on your fencing? How's the self-teaching going?

Will this workout strenghten my leg and knee muscles/tendons/ligaments done on a regular basis ? Iam a beginner (mid 30s) and having problems with the lunge...it's like something holding me back because my legs can't fully support the move ..at least that's what I think
Where do you have classes!

Just listened to someone talk about Jeet Kun Do and how his fencing background helped with his shooting form. This looks like a great video to become more interested in the sport.

Fencing is like boxing. In boxing the lead hand or the jabbing hand is like the sword

looking at 8:14 'advancing', Do fencers ever use that type of movement but moving the back foot first(then front foot), when going forward?
