Hi, I have a valiant eco tech that keep coming up with water pressure fault. British Gas have been 3 times First time they replaced the inverter valve as it was leaking but this didn’t solve the problem, 3 weeks later I called them again and they replaced the pressure sensor and few weeks later had the same problem so I called them again, they came and changed the pressure settings so i don’t have the f75 fault but again few weeks later the issue reappeared. No visible water leaks around the house or any damp patches etc. What else could it be ? Appreciate your help 😃
Hi I assume your boiler is losing pressure (or at least the display is saying it is) Does your boiler have a pressure guage on the front? If it does does it read approximately the same? F75 pressure can not be adjusted, it is what it is.. The causes of F75 are leaking pipes, radiator valves and joints, it doesn't have to be much to reduce the pressure low enough for the boiler to go to fault to protect itself. Check all your radiator valves for any signs of leakage, this doesn't have to be wet but sometimes shows a crusting around the valve. It can also be a leaking Auto air vent in the boiler. It can also be a pump inside the boiler starting to fail. The boiler needs to see that it had enough pressure in it before it does anything, if not you will get f75. If it says there is enough pressure it will then operate the pump, the pump should generate an additional .3 of a bar pressure, if it doesn't it will fault to f75. Get a good vaillant specialist or call Vaillant (or me if I'm in your area lol) Best wishes
Our boiler is a ecotec plus and it doesn't have those white valves underneath the boiler, instead what we have is a filling loop upstairs next to the immersion heater. An engineer installed it and taught me how to do it, I've done it many times before but this time it's not doing anything when I turn the screw on the filling loop metal pipe. Any ideas why it's not working this time?
Don’t know if you can help David, but twice now my boiler has failed to come on,but the strangest thing is that no water comes out of my hot tap (even cold water)not even a drip, have you come across this problem before?.Then all of a sudden i have water coming from the hot tap and the boiler works without doing anything to it after maybe one or two hours. We have very low water pressure in the the water main outside 1.6 bar to my water meter in my driveway.Could it be that if there’s a problem (like a water leak)and the mains pressure drops below the required pressure this would stop the boiler operating. It’s very strange especially the fact that no water either hot or cold comes out of the hot tap.Have you come across this problem before.
I assume this is just the hot taps, if so one of the valves I show in the video is on the on position, it will be the righthand valve make sure it is turned to the off position
@@davewellsheatingengineer It’s not the refill pipe that is the problem, the problem is that when the boiler doesn’t work,no water goes through it to the hot taps not even a drip all my hot taps in my house are completely dry.I think it might be because of the pressure in the water main as after a while 1 or 2 hours water appears at the taps and the boiler works.Maybe because the pressure has gone up in the water mains.I have spoken with the guy who services the boiler and he’s not sure.Would the water pressure to the boiler cause this?
@@stephenwright2056 the refill valve on the right is a diverter, it diverts water from the main supply that usually goes through your boiler to filling topping the pressure up, it is very likely this valve has either developed a fault or been left in the on position. Incoming water pressure would affect hot and cold.. yours is just hot
@@davewellsheatingengineer Them valves haven’t been touched they are in the off position. They are not the problem, the boiler simply doesn’t turn on and no water (and being the boiler isn’t on it would be cold )is in the hot taps no drips or any water at all. Then a bit later (this time 1 or 2 hours) the boiler starts up.I think it’s the water pressure from the cold water main that’s got reduced pressure and that pressure isn’t enough for the boiler.I have 1.6 bar at my water meter,i suspect that the water pressure is reduced possibly because of a leak or reduced pressure from down the pipeline.Because even if the boiler doesn’t work i should still get cold water through the hot taps. Thanks for your interest.Do you know if the water pressure isn’t enough would i still get cold water through the boiler to the hot taps.
@stephenwright2056 a boiler doesn't need to be on to have water flowing through it to the taps. Ask when did this start May I suggest you go to the boiler, turn the righthand fill valve on and off a few times whilst having a hot tap open
Hi David, My valillant eco Tec boiler 418 does not have a pressure gauge. How can I tell if the pressure is low without a pressure gauge.? The little screen does not display anything about pressure (unlike other videos I've seen). How can I check the pressure? Many thanks.
my vaillant eco tech pro 236/5 from 1.3 bar cold rise to 2 bar when heating is on.Do i have to leak a radiator to reduce pressure or is it ok? The boiler heats 9 radiatos for about 110square house.
1.3 rising to 2bar isn't awful. I would leave it at that but get a heating engineer in when you can to check the expansion vessel pre charge and also if the system needs an additional expansion vessel (all depends on volume of the system but a good engineer will work this out )
My model only have one valve (ecotec classic) and doesn’t recharge when opening, start sounding like filling and the pressure rise little bit and them drops, I am desperate
Hi David, my combi boiler has lost its pressure 3 times now in the last 6 months, so roughly every 2 months very slowly. Today I noticed one of the valve to top up pressure is open and the other is closed, could that be a reason? I also noticed when we last topped up the boiler to 1.5 the boilers pressure went all the way up to 3 when turning on heating , but eventually lost the pressure slowly over 2 months. It’s causing me a lot of anxiety because I’m thinking is there a leak somewhere which can’t be detected.
If your boiler pressure goes to 3 bar or above, it will discharge some water to the outside. It is a safety device. Once these devices have operated they usually do not fully re seat themselves, so will probably need replacing. The issue of the system rising in pressure when the heating is on is an expansion vessel problem, inside your boiler you have a vessel that has a inner tube in it, this inner tube should be pumped up to around 1.1 bar in pressure and then tested. Vaillant boilers also have two pressure gauges, one is a clock face type and the other gives a digital reading, the one that gives a digital reading is operated by an electronic pressure sensor, these easily become blocked, this gives rise to similar faults. You need to seek a heating engineer to service your boiler. These issues can easily be resolved.
Then you really need this looking at, you either have a leak or you pressure relief valve is running, take a look outside ( usually behind the boiler, a small pipe (15mm) may be dripping or in your case running, call a heating engineer, continual fresh water entering your system will corrode the metals in your system causing a lot of expensive damage. a call now could save you a lot of money.
