Hi there. I used this same principle to clean all the fuel injectors on my 2008 Hyundai Tucson. This was a very economical and effective way to perform a DIY. The whole project cost me about US$30. If I had taken this to the mechanic, It would have cost me much much more. Thanks for the vid.
Nice way to do it! I did it another way using compressed air, and a short length of fuel line. I used a 12V battery charger to power the injector, but most automatic types they make these days won't do it. However a 6 to 12 Volt plug in adapter will work. To my knowledge injectors actually run at about 5 to 6 volts anyway. Nice vid :)
Great video, I'm from France and here garage don't reapare the injectors they just change them for 1200€😂😂😂 (you read well 1200€). With your technic, it has costed me 35€. Thanks you bro ❤.
Dear Robguitargod1! Thank you very much for share this video!!! Nobody knows what is the problem with my car. When I started the engine for 5 secound does not worked all of the cylinders, it was a little bit weak, and the gasreaction was too too slow... In the service told me the guy, my injection heads are good. I just try your way and the car will been smooth, start immediatelly, stronger, sharper. It will been a better car. So thank you very much again and sorry for my weak english. Regards
Injectors operate on 5 volts. !2 volts is way too much, thats why you hear the pintel moving so violently. The coil wires are about as thick as a strand of spiders web. Very helpful video.
Hey what I found that worked really great was a little bubbles that you buy to shut off a vacuum line a little hose clamp I put a hole real tiny in top of the bubble cut the straw off of the spray can at an angle shoved it through the hole no leaks and had the pressure
Glad I found this! This is a well put together video; good sound, to-the-point direction, and decent camera work. Also, the set up for this system is quite clever, I can't wait to try it out. Replacing all the fuel injectors I have now is too expensive for me, so I'm trying to salvage what I can to reduce costs, and hopefully this will help. Fingers crossed!
Nice job, with one exception, you might have mentioned eye protection for the operation outlined, especially since you noted a bit of a mishap with the syringe coming off under pressure, but other than that I'm very impressed, enough so to try it myself..Cheers
Don't forget protective glasses, it may not seem but there is a bit of a pressure and those connections enjoy breaking free. Don't forget to back flush because that gives a flow from the opposite 'normal' direction. Install the injectors the same day, don't let them stay with that solvent overnight as it contains acetone and that can damage the injector. I use a small 9V battery by the way, plenty enough. Never use acetone or lacquer cleaner.
Good evening and happiness you are cleaning the sprays with your beautiful style Thank you for this wonderful information Oh ok Worked to clean the survivors 👌But I change the filter sprays better
Nice . Bought the little kit that’s on Amazon didn’t like the adapter that goes over the can leaks a lot this looks a lot better even gonna buy me a switch and do it this way . Thank you ❤❤
genius method for practically free, thanks for sharing! I've considered using an ultrasonic cleaner, but I think this method would be perfectly sufficient, especially with reverse cleaning.
Great video and funny as well. Bet you're Canadian! Continue the good work. Beware of the high 12V on the injectors as they are more likely running on much lower voltage.
Beginning manifold vacuum hot: 13.5-14 inHg Added Seafoam to my gasoline. Took the car out on the highway for 5 miles out and 5 miles back, doing about 80mph in the far left lane in 4th gear most of the time. Back to the garage, Ending manifold vacuum hot: 17.5 inHg. WHY? Why did my fan belt start slipping immediately after I started the motor for the first time after adding Seafoam to my gas? I remember cringing at the noise it was making (not knowing what it was, it was different than the way loose belts normally sound because the belt was brand new), while at the same time marveling at how much better the engine's pickup was. Yes, it was the belt slipping on the pulley from the torquier motor and this was every time I put the throttle down. That belt was tight enough for the way the motor ran before Seafoam but not after. WHY? Seafoam gets blamed for causing noises under the hood after using it, and yeah it caused a noise under my hood too. You'll have to excuse my own anecdotal evidence that it works is good enough for me and deniers look like idiots I'm sorry to see. Does it work for everyone? Hell no. Is what's presented in this video far more comprehensive? Hell yes. I should pull the injectors on my car and inspect them and either have them professionally cleaned, or replace them outright. But if you're a random person with some carbon buildup who's too irreligious to buy a $7 can of Seafoam and try it first before belaboring yourself into hundreds or thousands of dollars of expense and hours of smelly and even dizzy work, I don't know what's wrong with you broski.
Nice idea, but I don't believe this simulates fuel rail pressure, I'm sure as long as the cleaners is running through the injector this should suffice though. I'd just make sure you have the good cleaner and not the junk generic crap that doesn't cut it. It should be easy to tell if it's working ok or not, if you first see dark spray coming out the injector when you first spay it, then keep spraying it until it's clear... I've found Berryman's carb/injector cleaner works best, imo.
While I do not disagree that you may need to clean and injector from the junk yard because of fuel deterioration from sitting (stagnant and separated). Most injector failures and not from clogging any more. Most are from the breakdown of insulation in the injector from oxygenated fuel and less than robust design. Just as a side note it would be more beneficial to reverse flush the injector as much of the plugging that I have seen is particulate matter plugging the little screen going into the injector. Cleaning that will go much farther than the internal cleaning. :)
Note: Gas Tank -> Fuel Pump -> Fuel Filter -> Injectors -> Spark Plug. -If you don't hear loud whining Fuel Pump your good. If hear a whine, that's a moderate job, use a manual and another vid. -More than 70k: Swap out Fuel Filter $5-50 (trust me this really helps and is easy) -Pop off Injectors (job 5 min or less depending on car, watch other videos) Clean using same or similar method in video (can use 9v battery and alligator clips) I start with fuel filter and then injector clean. BOOM done. You're welcome :)
Where did you buy the fuel injector kit? I bought mines on Amazon but t doesnt have the nozzle with the button. Mines has the large and small plug with two white plastic spray nozzles you attach the back injector into the hole and hold the top slanted part of the white plastic part that has the slanted top on it if you know what I'm talking about yours has the cord with a button and the plastic nozzle for the back end and you can see the carb cleaner om out and spray it at your on will
The technique is basically the same in injector cleaning, it's the approach that makes it individual. So guys, Note the technique, the rest is what makes you "happy".
You may also be able to buy the injector electrical connector like I did for my '89 f150. Took a lot of talking on the phone but I finally found it at Auto Zone for about $6. Beats driving 45 minutes to the closest self-service junkyard, and paying a $2 entry fee just to find out they may not have the part you are looking for.
Set of 8 new bosch injectors on ebay is $120... They are made with 4 nozzles and atomize fuel better... Not sure if there's any sense to cleaning junkyard injectors. BUT a good video and the idea mate!
I need to know if there's actually any difference in performance before and after the cleaning. Great video tho. Will try that soon. I'll try to make a video on before and after, and if I see any difference in gas color I'll post it for yall.
yes TY. I seen a guy use a double A battery on one, But it wasn't working for me for some reason. I was worried about hooking up direct to the car battery like you did, Because I didn't know if it would be to strong or not. Appreciate the upload man and info.
The 703 injectors are the same calibration as the stock xj... Thats why its a popular upgrade... It has four injection holes instead of the 1 in the stock injectors.
That spray pattern looked perfect. What "error" are you talking about? Are you talking about doing a leak down? That would be a separate video, if done at all after a cleaning.
I've a 1995 XJ with 232k miles. It has a slight miss at idle and barely gets by emissions, but runs fine once revved up. All new ignition parts except the coil. Might it be the injector? Why is the 703 a popular swap?
@parvizsoccer No special current rating on the switch, and you can use whatever you want as long as you make contact with the injector. Yes, 12VDC battery.
@robguitargod1 really good video man thanks alot, I just have one question. Is their no problem with the voltage? I mean connecting one injector to any battery is fine?
Hey, I'm planing to install an additional injector in the air intake of the engine and inject water-alcohol in it. I'm going to connect the new injector to the signal wire of one of car's own injectors, so that every time that injector receives a signal and sprayed fuel into the chamber, the new injector receives the same signal at the same time and inject water into the air intake. Do you think this will cause a power drop on the signal wire of the main injector? Sorry for my bad English...
I still didn't quite understand the alligator clips for power. One from battery positive to button , then from button to injector connector ( positive lead in connector??), then from connector to negative battery. Is that all correct???
I try to explain the best I can :) When you inject a mixture of alcohol and water into the chambers via air intake, it will cool the chamber, so you can have more air the cylinders. Also water will break to H and O2 when it reaches to 800 C. After the spark, the H and O2 will combine again and will produce superheated steam which is 2000 time more expandable than gasoline. So I wanna inject the mixture into he air intake via a fuel injector which is connected to a HP pump and a signal generator.
I'm trying to understand what the purpose of doing that would be! You said you intended to embark into this somewhat head-scratching project, but you didn't explain why!
hey did this give u more power and throttle response and milage and such?? . or should i just go buy new injerctors... also what did u say when u went to buy a sorringe ? did they look at u like u were gonna shoot up lol
I did the same thing only with water instead of carb cleaner cuz I don't have it and I used 9 volt battery. I just wanted to see if it would spray. When I connect the wires from the injector connector to the battery, I hear some sound and see little sparks but nothing is ever sprayed. Any idea? Does it need pressure? You don't seem to have any pressure in your test
ok when you conect your conector to the battery how do u know which side of the injector conector is the positive and which one is the negative or it doesnt really matter?
@fmmsss no gas will not clean them you will need them to turn on and off to be able to clean them you can try to soak them in carb cleaner but it may eat through the plastic caseing if left to soak
Im curious, is there any different in battery connection between clean & reverse clean? or you just supply the liquid in 1 of those fuel injector's ends ?
Hehehehehe, good Video. Another EASY way.... My Dad fill a Line Tube about 4" with Fuel Injector Cleaning Fluid and plug that into an Air Compressor. He connect the Positive and Negative like this Video and just BLOW it right through until the 4" Liquid is Empty, that was it... Took him like 10 Minutes most :D
I got the syringe from Petsmart I believe. I had to go to a few places to find one. Yes carb cleaner is ok to use. It's a cleaner and is just to clean out any deposits in the injector. I've done this mod/cleaning on my '98 XJ Cherokee, and it runs great.

I like this, I like this a lot. I wouldn't do it on my daily driver but looks it's perfect like a DIY project for a beater.
Beginning manifold vacuum hot: 13.5-14 inHg

sweet setup with the syringe. i heard 9v is safer since ECU's are actually reducing the voltage to the injectors so its not a true 12v.
very clever contraption ,best one so far on the tube. Good work, appreciated.
Don't forget to HAVE the basket filter installed when cleaning the injectors. Otherwise you will surely get debris inside from the rubber hoses used.
Nice idea, but I don't believe this simulates fuel rail pressure, I'm sure as long as the cleaners is running through the injector this should suffice though. Thanks for sharing this video. I got a car that's set 10yrs that has some gummed up injectors.
This was a good video. I like this method because it a also tests the fuel injectors as well! Keep up the good work.
Damn great idea !! Aerosol can's have actualy about the same pressure as a fuel line too ! will keep this in mind. Thank a lot :)
Note: Gas Tank -> Fuel Pump -> Fuel Filter -> Injectors -> Spark Plug.

That was a great job you must have put quite a bit of time in on perfecting this. Thanks.
very clever congrats,,everything is easy ,just the part with the connector but a couple of aligator directly to the pins be no problem.cheers
That spray pattern looked perfect. What "error" are you talking about? Are you talking about doing a leak down? That would be a separate video, if done at all after a cleaning.
Can we connect battery Negative and positive charge terminals to injector randomly. Does injector will work or it blow off ?? Please do reply
Very nice info... Gonna give it a try after Xmas : ). Where can I get a fuel injector connector?
Tu eres un ingeniero con mucha experiencia pero sin titulo.
Awesome! I got a Chrysler Cirrus (virtually the same as the Breeze) so this video may in fact come in handy in the future!
I've a 1995 XJ with 232k miles. It has a slight miss at idle and barely gets by emissions, but runs fine once revved up. All new ignition parts except the coil. Might it be the injector? Why is the 703 a popular swap?

Used motor oil??? Why would you purposely put dirt on the intake side that might plug up your injector???

"Damnitt!!" 😂😂 Really hilarious
But seriously, great video very informative I'm going to use this for practical purposes!
thats the same way i cleaned my injectors too.... works pretty well .. i used wd40 worked very well too but carbcleaner cleans more/better for sure
great setup they were cleaned
Men you have such a good video and so so many hits that you should be getting payed by you tube! your volume is making them money babe!!
Great cleaning tip thanks.....BTW where did you get the syringe?
That was real easy,, well is how you made it look like,, ,, thx bro , nice video!
I did this about a year ago after watching this video. Thanks for the idea!
LMAO, I kept laughing everytime he would say "damn it"
can we use brake cleaner to clean injectors as with carb cleaner, is it good to do it with brake cleaner like this
Smart method!!!
I will also do that with my D-Jetronic system! (Will need 3 Volt source for the old
D Jetronic Injectors --- not 12 Volts)
does swapping of the injectors improve performance or fuel economy from the plymouth to your jeep?
Is the polarity inmportant for the injector coil, or doesn't it matter?
Cool set up,,but in your house?
I still didn't quite understand the alligator clips for power. One from battery positive to button , then from button to injector connector ( positive lead in connector??), then from connector to negative battery. Is that all correct???
Very good video !
I recommend using protec autocare for fuel injector cleaner, it also cleans the entire fuel system without having to remove anything.
your advertising bullshit out of here
Power Stroker
Sorry. Get your advertising bullshit out of here
I try to explain the best I can :) When you inject a mixture of alcohol and water into the chambers via air intake, it will cool the chamber, so you can have more air the cylinders. Hey great video. just wondering where could i find the alligator cables you used. i live in toronto canada
injectors for my silverado at autozone are $93.99 and i would need 8 of them. thats $751.92. way cheaper to clean them if possible.
one question? does a dirty fuel injector has to do with guzzling gas?
I also have a 4.0L XJ - which junkyard injectors work? Heard Neon and now Plymouth Breeze 703.
i think injectors from a ford 5.0 if you search "xj junkyard parts" theres a nice list of swapable parts
Nice job on the video
I'm trying to understand what the purpose of doing that would be! You said you intended to embark into this somewhat head-scratching project, but you didn't explain why!
Is it necessary to set that on/off button? Can't we just do the cleaning without it using only wires, battery and spray ?
hey did this give u more power and throttle response and milage and such?? . or should i just go buy new injerctors... also what did u say when u went to buy a sorringe ? did they look at u like u were gonna shoot up lol
I am trying find the operating voltage of a Deka VII injector. Can I give it 12V from my moto's battery?
Sometimes you need to be an octopus, in the land of DIY makeshift maintenance.
Never thought of cleaning the injectors awesome video!!
Nice
ok when you conect your conector to the battery how do u know which side of the injector conector is the positive and which one is the negative or it doesnt really matter?
if anyone is thinking about doing this, don't use carb cleaner, use fuel injector cleaner, same spray can, its not damaging to plastics and rubbers.
That is a very good idea. Where did you get your syringe?
Nice! robguitargod1, are you Mopar guys 'blessed' with the 'almighty' BOSCH fuel injector? ...Should be the same process for "The Big Three"?
@fmmsss no gas will not clean them you will need them to turn on and off to be able to clean them you can try to soak them in carb cleaner but it may eat through the plastic caseing if left to soak
u r amazingly creative.. thanks so much for the tips
ooo damn that is a nice mist spray. nice job!
No one saw the black thing floating in the tube at 5:33 ? I think you just pushed a big chunk of dirt in there.
Berryman b12 chem tool. Would be an excellent solvent to use.
Thanks!! To think I was about to buy a new set of injectors..... :-)
Awesome video bro
this is a great vid, i have never thought of cleaning a fuel injector that way!!! looks like it works very well, :-)
great video. just want to ask does this work on any model fuel injectors for cars? or just for yours?
Worked great. I used a 9v battery instead and it worked just fine... Thanks for the vid
Thanks for the vid dude. Are the Dodge Neons the same? i scored 4 yesterday, but they look different than those you got there.
Rob, this is seemingly almost too practical. After a shot or two either way, could you tell any difference in the way the injector sprayed? Thanks....
Where did you get the plasctic needle
Im curious, is there any different in battery connection between clean & reverse clean? or you just supply the liquid in 1 of those fuel injector's ends ?
Hehehehehe, good Video. Another EASY way.... My Dad fill a Line Tube about 4" with Fuel Injector Cleaning Fluid and plug that into an Air Compressor. He connect the Positive and Negative like this Video and just BLOW it right through until the 4" Liquid is Empty, that was it... Took him like 10 Minutes most :D
nice i go to UTI and that is the same thing we do with the $5500 injector cleaner
I got the syringe from Petsmart I believe. I had to go to a few places to find one.
Yes carb cleaner is ok to use. It's a cleaner and is just to clean out any deposits in the injector. I've done this mod/cleaning on my '98 XJ Cherokee, and it runs great.
What is the operating voltage for this fuel injector. Mine are operated by about 5 volts. I want to use this method but am concerned about the 12 volt battery and whether any damage will ocurr to the fuel injector coil.
