The great thing about Carrey's performance as Eggman/Robotnik is that, in spite of being such a silly character, he does have a very noticeable arc between the three movies. Jim Carrey is known for turning down sequels, but it makes total sense as to why he keeps coming back for Sonic- Dr. Eggman is in such a different mental state with each film that it never feels like Jim is playing the exact same character. And in the case of the third movie, he's also literally playing a completely different character with Gerald Robotnik, who (while quite a bit sillier than his counterpart in the games) is much more malicious than his grandson. The movies are a fun time, but keep in mind they've gotten better with each entry. The first film is a solid kids' film that's enjoyable to watch, but it's easily the weakest of the three. The third, on the other hand, is generally considered the best. In other words, it's best to stick with these movies, as 2 and 3 address criticisms that viewers had of the previous films, until the point where it's actually really excellent.
The best moment of the whole movie. I'm glad I watched it in the cinema. I haven't received such a charge and positivity for a long time that I wanted to dance at this moment. Give Jim an Oscar for that dance, he absolutely deserves it.
There is so much to be said about this scene and this performance, but I really love how Robotnik just pushes Gerald in to test the suits.
