Never noticed this before, but the two pistols Rocket picks up at the beginning are nerf blasters. A nerf recon and a nerf nite finder, cut up and painted different colors to look the part. Hilarious and awesome use of toys from the props department. Sells the look well.
There was some post on one of the social media sites I frequent that matched up the guns in multiple movies with different Nerf guns. From what I understand a decent chuck of sci-fi and 'vaguely militaristic' guns are all repainted Nerf and it amuses me ever so much when I spot one in a movie.

When you sit down and actually analyze this scene closely, you realize it’s doing such an amount of heavy lifting in only 3 minutes. It absolutely cements Yondu as a stone-cold badass and why 80% of his crew had to revolt at once before they had the combined cojones to even confront him. The fact that he uses Quill’s music to commit his happy little jaunty mass murder gives you some insight into their relationship, how close they actually are, how much they’ve influenced each other and even the fact that Peter takes after him in a lot of ways. And then it shows you, and this is important to give more weight to their later scene together, that Yondu and Rocket are A LOT alike. They both had no trouble whatsoever casually walking through the ship murdering a bunch of people and enjoying it. Such competent, efficient and yet enjoyable writing from James Gunn.
Except in typical hollywood manner, it is not his competence, it is their incompetence. There were multiple times when he could get shot, he was just a free target, no hiding, no crouching, and no one even attempted to do that.

@Michael Trettin except people did die fighting Thanos. Black widow had to sacrifice her life, gamora was sacrificed by thanos, vision was killed, iron man had to sacrifice his life. Even captain america is no longer a hero. None of those heroes were given plot armor. Yondu dies in volume 2. Your statement makes no sense when you think about it.
@Michael Trettin thanos technically still killed iron man and black widow. It was his actions that led to them sacrificing themselves. If it wasn't for him, they wouldn't have to sacrifice themselves. So he technically killed loki, black widow, iron man, gamora, and vision. All main characters whose "plot armor" didn't save them. Marvel kills main characters all the time. They don't treat them like invincible heroes. Throughout the comics, movies, and tv shows the hero's die. Find something else to complain about 🤣

That's why Tazerface realized that "Yondu's got the fin!!" That specific music must have been played at some point before in a similar situation, or something.
For those wondering, yes Michael Rooker really did the whistling. He had to learn how to whistle with the fake teeth in. Confirmed it when meeting Rooker at C2E2 2022
Mini analysis of the final part of this INCREDIBLE scene: This is Yondu’s ship, from the start we knew that from them being already in the mechanics room and the fact that they went directly to this camera room, it’s pretty reasonable that he knows its hallways, secret passages and so much more like the back of his hand so him being able to control his arrow through the corridors and very walls isn’t too insane to believe (though still insanely impressive, he went on a killing spree using OG Resident Evil controls and DID NOT MISS). What’s equally (if not more so) impressive is Rocket watching Yondu’s arrow through the cameras and gaining a near equal understanding of the ship’s build in SECONDS. You can even watch Rocket’s facial journey of “So if that guy’s there and I aim… here” before firing and looking over and grinning because he knows he’s figured this out and is free to take out any and all Ravagers he wants (thank you animators, y’all are CHAMPS). Then it’s just two mad geniuses shooting fish in a barrel cause no one else on the ship is THIS clever. What a scene, what amazing action and story telling all in one!
Notice how brave they are until they hear him whistle and realize they just made a huge mistake. Classic.\ Edit: Ty all for my first comment passing 1.2K

Far and away one of my favourite mcu scenes. Just the concept of that weapon is so cool to me and after seeing the little teaser we got of it near the end of Guardians 1 this felt like a really good payoff. Yondu is straight up lethal.
James Gunn seriously has the best track record with comic book media. Gotg, TSS, Peacemaker, and now he's in charge of DC Studios. I hope he brings the same heart and passion to these films, and I am honestly hopeful that he will.
The arrow is my favorite weapon in all of fiction. It's unique, lethal, fast, simple and best of all it's not unbelievable. This weapon seems entirely possible with this level of technology. sure it probably wouldn't have the red streak and would likely look different but how it works would still stay the complete same.
Considering how effortlessly he slaughters people just while walking and not turning his head, it really makes you think about how many people yondu has killed, not just individuals but probably small armies aswell
Originally Yondu was from a primitive tribe of Hunter's who had experienced multiple essentially raids on their planet. Most of them were wiped out by one of the Kree's warrior races. This was in like the comics in the 60's. I don't know if this is considered canon in the MCU and they just never say it but I doubt it. Especially since they messed up the mutants and X-Men. This is before they essentially rewrote all the comics in the 80s and 90s. Yondu was one of the original members of the Guardians alongside Vance Astro. Yondu was basically written off the team when they abandoned a lot of the old plot points. Star Lord and this iteration of the Guardians only really started in like 2007. Which they essentially became the prime universe Guardians.
I LOVE how at 2:36, he could have just killed the guys running away with the Yaka arrow. Instead, he uses the arrow to cut the spaceship loose from above them, and it crushes them. I laugh every time I watch that part, and the amusement he took in dispatching all those who took part in the mutiny.
And the fact it looks like the arrow itself decided to do that almost like it went "Nope, I've got a funnier idea." And at 2:40 It goes through the guy's mug like "Fuck your beer. Now die!" The second part being when it comes back.
I love how creative the action/combat sequences in every GOTG movie are, even and especially when compared to other films in the MCU. This is one of the most out-of-the-box and fun action sequences in any action/sci-fi movie I've ever seen

Never noticed this before, but the two pistols Rocket picks up at the beginning are nerf blasters. A nerf recon and a nerf nite finder, cut up and painted different colors to look the part. Hilarious and awesome use of toys from the props department. Sells the look well.
Watch Adam Savage repaint a Nerf Gun. Man that is was one hell of a intro on how to make it look much more awesome

Nerf or nothing!
I have seen that video Adam Savage turns a nerf gun into a Heavy Bolter from 40k
There was some post on one of the social media sites I frequent that matched up the guns in multiple movies with different Nerf guns. From what I understand a decent chuck of sci-fi and 'vaguely militaristic' guns are all repainted Nerf and it amuses me ever so much when I spot one in a movie.
I know it’s Yondu’s moment, but having Rocket and Groot there makes it ten times better, if any of the guardians deserved to be in this awesome scene it’d be them. Perfect mix of the natural storyline and a great stand alone scene.

Mini analysis of the final part of this INCREDIBLE scene:
This is Yondu’s ship, from the start we knew that from them being already in the mechanics room and the fact that they went directly to this camera room, it’s pretty reasonable that he knows its hallways, secret passages and so much more like the back of his hand so him being able to control his arrow through the corridors and very walls isn’t too insane to believe (though still insanely impressive, he went on a killing spree using OG Resident Evil controls and DID NOT MISS).
Baby Groot's one and only kill
This scene is probably the single most badass scene in the MCU. Yondu's fin is the coolest weapon ive ever seen
*2:33*
*My favorite scene: Blackout*
*LEFT CHEEK!!!*
The song absolutely makes this scene.
Yep, music makes this scene a few times better.
They could not have chosen a better song for this sequence ❤️
Until Daniel Baxter (the guy from HISHE) made "Here comes my arrow".
2:41 this moment 😂😂
1:55 ヨンドゥの耳たぶ掴んでるグルート可愛すぎるぜ
coming here after watching vol.3. imo this scene will be always remebered as legendary and there would be no other like this scene
"Use your *heart,* Boy."
Yondu giving Kraglin the Ravager salute is also really great in that scene.
I like how he casually pick his teeth after killing the two guards. Kinda like an appetizer before the main course
I always felt bad for the guy who just drinking. Like, let him enjoy a last drink before killing him.
That sounds awesome in theory.... But no.... And here's why....
He doesn’t deserve it after what he did to Baby Groot
@@ComradeCoop that was just evil, lol
I thought it was hilarious lol, its like the arrow missed the first time and was like "wait shit gotta turn around"
He wanted to smash griot with a rock, he doesn’t deserve a last drink
There are only a few movie theater moments that go into your core memory bank and this was one of those moments. The whole theater was in AWE
And the fact it looks like the arrow itself decided to do that almost like it went "Nope, I've got a funnier idea."
And at 2:40 It goes through the guy's mug like "Fuck your beer. Now die!" The second part being when it comes back.
2:02 Terrifyingly adorable!
they forgot to lock Groot now he caused Yondu's music video montage
Underrated comment!
I love how creative the action/combat sequences in every GOTG movie are, even and especially when compared to other films in the MCU. This is one of the most out-of-the-box and fun action sequences in any action/sci-fi movie I've ever seen
no one...
