He's done WONDERFUL with this series. And the two movies have been absolute love letters to Sonic fans.

Deem Brustow Eggman had plenty of silly too more subtle that people forget
I was really skeptical of this casting choice before the first movie came out but by the time I saw that end credits scene I have to say this is probably the best we could've hoped for in a live-action adaptation
Like many others, I also think he was the best part of the movies. Jim Carrey really fitted as Eggman. Despite generally being a comedic or emotional actor, he managed to make Eggman menacing as well, as he should be. What I like too is that his Eggman role is not as crazy as Ace Ventura, so it probably really makes it easier on him given his age.
Jim Carrey as Eggman is one of those things that sounds like the textbook example of miscast.......yet it wasn',t he didnt just nailed Eggman he BECAME Eggman, hell this is now one of my favorite versions of the character
I think it helped that they let Jim ease into becoming Eggman and through that helped the audience get eased into his version of Eggman. Look at him in the first movie, he’s barely Eggman. He’s not fat, he’s got hair, he doesn’t hate Sonic and he doesn’t even have a witty repartee with the blue blur, he has more lines with Tom. But he was still a compelling and interesting villain so people didn’t care, in addition they had that tease of a more accurate Eggman in the trailer so people knew he was going to eventually become him. They didn’t just dump Jim on us with a goofy moustache and fat suit, saying “here’s your Robotnik” they gave the audience time to accept him as Robotnik and show Jim become him
Feel like some scenes on the first movie when he speaks rapidly also feel like the Eggman's brilliance Yet, Jim did _amazing_ at portraying the actual Eggman on the second movie and that's just facts
Kudos to Jim Carrey and the writing, it really allowed him to take a normal bad guy and have him slowly become Eggman. Seeing the scenes back to back like this highlights the progression. Great stuff.
Glad he came out of retirement to fufill his purpose as eggman again in sonic 3. He knew that no matter what, he is eggman. And he must fufill his purpose
Jim would actually be a good replacement VA for eggman if Mike stops doing the voice. That end credits scene of the first movie sounds EXACTLY like Mike's eggman voice.
Jim Carrey has always been like the more loony version of Eggman, I mean if any of ya'll seen the movie The Mask you'll see what I mean. But regardless, yeah he really did started to lose his marbles the more Robotnik tried to get Sonic.

3:08 - Many sequences in these movies are eerily similar to Sonic X. You could almost put certain scenes side by side with each other. In fact, there are other similarities, such as GUN and Project Shadow being on Earth instead of Sonic's world, and Sonic and the others being from another planet. That “YOU can’t beat me!” Sounds so real and straight from the games.
At 0:07 you can hear Robotnik’s theme from the original Sonic TV show!
OH SNAP I never noticed that before
Snop PINGAS usual I see
2:06 more like "jim carrey becoming more and more like Ace Ventura as the movies go on"
2:34 He has officially reached peak Eggman.
I REALLY hope we see Jim Carrey in a fat suit for the third film. THEN we’ll finally have the most accurate Eggman to date
They didn’t just dump Jim on us with a goofy moustache and fat suit, saying “here’s your Robotnik” they gave the audience time to accept him as Robotnik and show Jim become him
All hail boss Eggman!
Hail.✊
Feel like some scenes on the first movie when he speaks rapidly also feel like the Eggman's brilliance
Yet, Jim did _amazing_ at portraying the actual Eggman on the second movie and that's just facts
Kudos to Jim Carrey and the writing, it really allowed him to take a normal bad guy and have him slowly become Eggman. Seeing the scenes back to back like this highlights the progression. Great stuff.
Yeah, first movie he’s just a brash egotist, second he’s a flat out nut job
some mushrooms are glowing
No wonder he lost his hair, If he ate the glowing mushrooms, he probs has cancer...
He shaved his head lol.
honestly Jim Carey was the best part of the 2 films, also the reason why I watched it, lol
2:34 "You can't beat me"
1:00 oh. Thats the laugh for the teaser. •_•
Glad he came out of retirement to fufill his purpose as eggman again in sonic 3. He knew that no matter what, he is eggman. And he must fufill his purpose
I love how we just see Robotnik going crazier and crazier as the movies go on
Jim as Joker would also be insanely good 😂
1:19 how did this Australian accent go over my head when watching this?
I love seeing an actor let themselves be cartoonish in a cartoon/game/comic adaptation
the pantera walk was great
Jim would actually be a good replacement VA for eggman if Mike stops doing the voice. That end credits scene of the first movie sounds EXACTLY like Mike's eggman voice.
One of the greatest actors of all time.
Jim Carrey has always been like the more loony version of Eggman, I mean if any of ya'll seen the movie The Mask you'll see what I mean. But regardless, yeah he really did started to lose his marbles the more Robotnik tried to get Sonic.
Dr. Eggman not Robotnik and losing his maid yeah same with the Archie comic of Sonic the Hedgehog.
@@Twilight17Petkoton I, never read any of the Archie comics, so I don't really know what's happenin over there; all I know is that the leadup to its current version was pretty wild and that the current Eggman got knocked out and lost his memories for a little while and was a pretty upstanding guy while in that alter ego.
And if I'm allowed to say this, the Eggman I'm more familiar with is the one from Sonic X, that was a fun show. =)
@Tommy Fox Yeah oddly enough I have Sonic X on Netflix and Hulu difference is that Sonic X season 3 is only on Hulu and Netflix getting the short end of the stick on 2 Seasons that it.
@@Twilight17Petkoton I always saw it in the On Demand section on Cable and I think there's more than 3 seasons, but I don't remember, it's been a while.
Um, whaddia think of the show?
He's basically just playing every other role he's ever done just slightly more insane
Slightely?
I love how he starts to sound more like Mike Pollock in some scenes in Sonic 2.
When I was little I used to play with my brother with sonic plushies, we used to discuss that Jim Carry would be perfect as Dr eggman, and that did actually happen
tbh when he was cast as Robotnik I was skeptical, especially seeing how he looked in the trailers in the 1st movie. But tbh, he has absolutely nailed the role and the progression from that initial look to his more accurate design has been handled really well.
My word, this man is a fantastic actor.
What a career of making me laugh for decades. LOVE JC
Sonic and Jim Carrey are pure 90's icons and I was ecstatic to see them together!
2:04 Jim Carry’s Eggman, Grinch and Scrooge impressions came up all at the same time 😂
I still can’t believe I grew up to watch Ace Ventura become Eggman.
Jim Carey, what an awesome actor!
So glad to hear he's agreed to come back again for the third one.
I gotta admit I was a bit nervous when they announced Jim Carrey would be playing eggman but damn he didn't disappoint.
3:08 - Many sequences in these movies are eerily similar to Sonic X. You could almost put certain scenes side by side with each other. In fact, there are other similarities, such as GUN and Project Shadow being on Earth instead of Sonic's world, and Sonic and the others being from another planet. It almost feels like there might be a reason for all the similarities, and that kind of scares me.
Robotnik's decent into his madness 😂
"Good people on both sides" -line got me. That was great.
