It was very painful. It was not until I took over my physical therapy that I got better. I joined a gym and work on straightening out my neck with exercises that improved my posture. As your family life goes, the main thing is to take care of your self first and foremost. If you don't you can not count on anybody else to do for you. My life path has been similar to yours. I know you can and will get will get better and come out stronger. You and your family will be in my prayers. Thank you for all you have done for me and your over 1 million subscribers. Just one piece of advice :
As we all do coding through out the day it is extremely important to do yoga early in the morning or if possible then joining the gym to stay mentally focused and healthy.
I recently started doing yoga in morning and I'm feeling really well even after seating 6 hours continuously in front of my computer screen. My eyes are also not getting tired. So try this at least for a week.

When I see the "Traversy Media" logo in the beginning of a video, I know it'll be the one that will clear all my doubts and I won't have to look at other videos - at least for the topic being discussed.
Be healthy and come back soon. The world needs more educators like you (and Jeffry Way, and a few more).

Hey Brad. First time commenting but long time subscriber. You've helped my career so much. I actually started off with freeCodeCamp and your tutorials back in 2017 and through that I became a Junior Dev since late 2018. I'm finally making the career jump to senior dev later this year. I grew up in poverty and becoming a developer changed my life, this channel was instrumental in making that happen. Thank you for all of your work.

Brad, you have given an enormous amount of your time and energy to your career and you definitely deserve to have a better life/work balance. Though I am just at the beginning, I already appreciated your tutorials. You are one of my favorite authors!
I want to express my symphathy to you. I have been in your shoes when I worked at a TV channel and spent 8 hours straight in front of my computer. My neck hurt, and I used to have a headache every day, fist it would start at 7 pm, and then at 5 pm. The tests showed I had laboured blood inflow and outflow in my brain resulting from diminished heights of intervertebral disks.
I was really lucky to find a good doctor (osteopath) who specialises in myofascial releasing and microkinesitherapy. I suggest that you give these types of therapy some of your attention.
In Ukraine we have therapists certified by Tolstonosov school, but there are also French researchers who develop similar technique. There are some key ideas about the therapy (how I understand it):
    1) Muscles are layered in a human body, and the deep muscles (that keep the bones together) can be too tight because of a spasm. This reduces the blood supply to the tissue, so degenerative processes take place. Once the muscles are relaxed to the normal tonus, blood circulation is restored and regenerative processes start. The problem with the deep muscles in that they are very hard to reach by means of a conventional massage. This is where myofascial releasing is helpful.
    2) Most muscles in a human body are interconnected and the excessive tension in one muscle can translate into tension in other muscles. In cases of spinal deformities the problem is often not the deformed bones, vertebras or disks, but the tight muscles that keep the bones in the unnatural/unhealthy position. When a spine is forced to an unhealthy position, excessive pressure is exerted on cartilages, such as intervertebral disks and joints. When cartilage tissue wears thin, bones have no proper support and this causes further disfigurement of the skeleton. When intervertebral disks become too thin, nerve tracts between them get pinched and the signals from the brain get distorted. So the brain cannot adequately direct the processes to sustain the tissues penetrated by these nerves. Another effect is that vertebras clash together and get damaged. This is how disk prolapses and protrusions happen. By giving muscles proper tonus (not spasmed and not feeble) you let your bones take a natural position, stop the damage to spinal disks and slow down deterioration of the body with age.
Myofascial release focuses on relaxing muscle, it really became my rescue, however it takes a very qualified osteopath to do it right. For strengthening muscles I discovered yoga. A gym turned out borderline harmful. Unlike a gym, yoga is a full-body experience. It helps me keep my back of healthy tonus when I don't attend the therapy. First 30 days of Yoga with Adriene in my view is the best. If your doctor allows, give it a try - Adriene is great!
My apology if this post felt too personal or intrusive. It was meant with good intentions. Knowing this stuff could have saved me a lot of pain back then. Please get well, enjoy life and treat us to some more of your awesome tutorials once in a while! :)
