I pray the Russian people save their country and the world from the horror of WW3. The guy has lost the plot totally. If it's true the casualty figures that are surfacing this is turning into a first class military disaster for Russia. 3,500 dead in one day? If it's true the Russian people are going to freak out.
"Russian people"? Oh, really, my fried? 35% of Soviets Troops were Ukrainians, other Soviet nations were represented too. And naturally British and Americans did not save the world. Russian people are going to freak out? They won't give dumb, they will think what POotin tell them to think. Military losses is top secret in Russia, this is the law.
Shout out to UK MPs Rory Stewart and Tobias Ellwood. They warned us about Putin for years, they understood him, he was never interested in talks or negotiations. Tobias wanted to put troops and a no-fly zone in Ukraine in December because he saw this coming.
Shout out to Tony Blair for destroying Iraq and killing of millions of people. UK and US dont have moral right here to say anything. Well we gotta sell those weapons and make profit for the super rich, dont we?
Many people have "warned us about Putin". However, there has been an unwillingness to engage, militarily, with one of the biggest armed forces in the world which has nuclear capability. Here in Germany, we have been well aware of the potential danger he posed but believed that through diplomatic and economic means (Ostpolitik) he could be controlled to a certain extent and, for a long time, it appeared to be working. With regard to "no fly zones" or other pre-emptive action, all that would have done would have provided him some legitimacy in his opposition to NATO and it's expansion. I have some grudging respect for Steward (none for Elwood) but sending NATO troops to Ukraine would simply provoked Putin into more forceful reaction. The truth is that every military analyst I have heard/read has said that the main reason no one took the threat of invasion seriously was because Russia has insufficient materiel on the Ukrainian borders to carry out a quick, successful but overall cheap, victory. Victory? Probably, but at the cost of thousands of Russian lives and billions of Roubles and, frankly, no one thought he was crazy enough to actually carry out the threat. We'll find out over the next few months what the outcome of this policy will be.
