LOVE to ALL of you
A good friend of mine retired from making guns. The last one he made was a custom rifle for me that I called Vera. He had the "Pretty floral bonnet," engraved in a secret spot on it. I died from laughter when I found it lol
Lol. Her heavy editing hand cut out your favorite line. Hahaha. [sigh] I was disappointed too.
Nice.
❤
Following this show made you feel like you're part of the crew. It was painful when it ended. Too soon as well.
The thing to realize about Mal's barbed comments to Inara is that its never about her, its about her job, which he finds repulsive. And i dont think its because hes puritanical, hell i think Mal would have an easier time if it was just sex she sold. But she sells companionship. . Mal values love and intimacy and Inara treats those things like a commodity. Worse (to Mal), she sells it to the elite of the alliance - to the rich and powerful people that represent everything he hates. In his eyes she is taking the thing he values most and auctioning it off to the people responsible for the war that broke him.
Not trying to excuse his behavior, but i think its important to understand why he does it.
Yup, it's the "rent a friend" part that stings. Great comment!
SPOILER: After his encounter with Nandi-whom Burgess says is "just a whore"-we never hear Mal call Inara that again. Granted, there's only one episode and a movie after that, so in fact I never even noticed it myself. But I read on another yt comment that the intention was for Mal to not cal Inara a whore in future seasons as well.
Precisely, but we all know that Mal could use a bit more tact ... well said !
He does it because he can. So making excuses. He’s an utter bastard to her because he knows he can get away with it. He’s an ass, played by a pretty white man. So everyone forgives him.
I'm a professional brewer, and i made a beer called "Pretty Floral Bonnet." It turned out pretty great too.
A "special" episode
For all of the great lines in this episode ('...pretty floral bonnet...' '...special hell...' '...days of taking you not serious .. coming to a middle...') it also features perhaps my two favorite silent takes in the entire series: Mal, after Saffron offers to wash his feet, and Inara after Mal says "I knew you let her kiss you."
Not Mine, but we haven't gotten there yet.
Enjoyed your laughter. It’s about now people start saying after every episode, “This is my favorite so far . . .”
I have 4 favorite episodes of this show that I consider tied for #1. This was the first one.
The show is great in that it doesn't have any bad episodes (or even so/so episodes), but episodes 6 and beyond are stronger than episodes 1-5.
Honestly, My favorite episode is whichever I happen to be watching at the time.
I always liked the fact that Inara cannot tell Mal the truth without telling him the TRUTH. So, she has to stand there and let him think that she got played. Now that's good writing.
I wonder if that is what she is thinking. I always interpreted it as complete bafflement as to how he could so miss the obvious and probably not a little frustration as she had sort of committed herself to facing the truth between them and then he completely ruins the moment.
@@voiceover2191 I think that is very possible.
But from her perspective she was caught red handed. He has her at a supreme disadvantage.
She kissed him while he lay unconscious. There is no way she can avoid the ramifications of that act. And knowing Mal, she knows he's going to use that to his advantage. And for a Companion that's a BIG problem. As this episode illustrates, they are trained to read body signals and to manipulate men which is what gives them their power.
Revealing her feelings for Mal without him reciprocating would really crush her self-esteem.
So, yeah when he mistakes her response and in essence is lets off the hook she could just be shocked into silence.
But I like to think it is a combination of emotions. On the one had she'd like to tell him the TRUTH but on the other hand she wants to remain aloof.
It really is good writing. These characters are very complex for a TV show.
Edit: Of course there is always the real possibility that Mal didn't make a mistake. It is possible that Mal knows she kissed him and got drugged and when she is brave enough to admit it HE decides to let her off the hook so as not to "complicate" their lives at this moment.
@@robertanderson6929 Yes, all good points!
Mal knows the truth. He let her off easy but he knows. I think 😂.
@@NickB5882 Probably. Of course then that sort of makes him a coward because he's afraid of what will happen if he has to face his feelings for Inara when she reveals hers for him.
A mickey is usually slipped into a drink, not spread on the lips, but it's the same general idea (and result).
One of my favorite episodes, too.
I think this knockout drug is called a Nickie.
This assumes the person who uses the lip balm is not knocked out themselves.
There is a drug derived from plants in South America that renders people extremely suggestive. Some chrookers apply it over their lip gloss. Then, after a kiss, they talk their victims into giving them everything of value that they have. Jayne was right, never kiss them on the mouth.
My second favorite episode of the series. Fun.
2:19 "But if I see your hand touch metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you."
3:10 Yeah, my middle school owned a reason stuck for the school band to use, we had a massive percussion section, so just so they didn't overwhelm the rest of us they ended up using quite the variety of instruments.
My rifle bag is adorned with three Firefly patches, one of which shows Jayne's rifle, and says "It is my favorite gun. I call it Vera". And yes, I do call my rifle Vera!
“This is my favorite episode so far” you’re gonna say that after every episode is my prediction . Lol
And you’re right Mel is an idiot where it comes to Innara .
See ya next time Luv u
One thing that I think is often overlooked is that Mal didn't break until she appealed to his sympathy. It wasn't all the sexual talk that got him (although he was definitely struggling). It was "Let me have my wedding night".
Welp, it's the Special Hell for me.
Although Jayne is right...Vera is way more worthy.
Christina Hendricks most iconic role is as Joan Holloway in another one of the great series of all time, Mad Men.
Yes, was going to drop a similar comment.
My favorite episode also.
Perhaps one of the best episodes, in the top three.
All the best.
Cheers.
I'm still wating for the perfect real-life opportunity to say "I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you" 😅
best reading of the bible EVER!!!!!😁😁
My 2nd favorite episode :) Next one is my favorite (I think).
Hey there Kazzy! Hope you're doing well today 💕
It's "Mal", as in "pal"
This is my favorite episode but "Trash" is a close 2nd.
And now you can see in Inara’s eyes that she has serious feelings for Mal.
hi kaz , hope you laughed , we'll see
My favorite line in the episode:
"Ooooh, Im gonna go to the special hell". LOL
Captain Reynold's first name rhymes with "pal", not with "Saul", "tall", or "wall".
His name isnt Mall. Its Mal. Short for Malcolm.
Bad, in the latin.
@@Desdemona-XI
Yes; and sick (ill, unwell) in French.
The joy I feel watching you watch this for the first time is beyond measure. I feel the same joy I did when I originally watched it. :)
Hi Kazzy, you have got to see see The Expanse, it's really great. I'm sure you'd love it.
first person I ever heard pronounce Malcoms name as Mahl. Is this going to be like Star Wars where the world says Hahn but Lando says Han. LOL
A wonderful episode even if “the plow” verse is NOT in the Bible. This show could have had a nice long run. Keep’em coming!!
Hugis happy Monday?
You should wach godzila x Kong they team up
Firefly doesn't have any bad episodes!
Many people name this as their favorite episode.
Christina Hendricks is also In Mad Men, which I haven’t seen, and a more recent great series called Good Girls.
Firefly has a lot of good episodes but this one is exceptional. Easily top three. Watching you watch this makes me think what this show could have done if given the chance of 3 or 4 seasons.
Hendricks' biggest role was on Mad Men.
While my favorite episode is still on the way, this is definitely my 2nd favorite, but all of them are great. Outside of your incorrect Twilight references (I can't judge since I've never seen them), it was another great reaction!
The problem with Firefly is, every episode is the best until the next one, but yeah, this one's a beauty.
Have you seen Stargate SG-1? Fun and sometimes intense.
Missing something? Well look here - Something.
Our Mrs. Kazzy. :) Many know her from Mad men.
Vera to the rescue. I love the point where Inara discovers she's in love with an idiot.
Since they’re uploading reactions from 2 1/2 years ago and the patreon hasn’t been updated in months, I take it this channel is largely done?
She's having health issues. I believe she posted a video about it.
Best episode to watch reactions. Does her story work on ya, or do you see its full of holes. If you fall for it, we now wait for the kiss.
How can you shame me like that? You're not the man I met awhile ago.
Christina is way too good of an actor to be in Twilight movie
"That was the most intense opening I've seen in the show so far" -- wait until episode 8, "Out of Gas"
This one is my favorite episode.
Awesome reaction to an awesome show
Welcome to Las Vegas Mal.
Mal is so pleased "figuring out" Inara let Saffron kiss her xD
10:13 #TheSpecialHell
Your laugh cracks me up every time 😂
Since FOX originally showed the episodes out of order, skipping the pilot entirely, this was the episode that I see most people say was where they got hooked. Everything came together in this one and the show kept that high quality through to the sudden end.
TROUBLE
❤🧡💛💚💙💜
She laughs in all caps she's like HAHAHAHA!
I don't mean this in arrogant or self-aggrandizing way, but this show and "The Office" are a good way to measure a viewer. Honestly, intelligent people love these.
I feel the same way about 'The Prisoner'......Patrick McGoohan's masterpiece...=))
Thank you Pete, Jack and Rick!* And welcome!🙋🏼♂️
Nice reaction. That's funny, I'm wearing forest combat gear with a Serenity T-shirt, less mariny than yours. Kind of jalous, those pants are awesome. But I'm sick as a dog, with angine, temperature falling down so I have two military jacket on me, plus a jean jacket with a patch that say Enterprise. And a scarf. Every thing other that the Firefly T-shirt stamped NASA. and of course, Doc Mateens. The parallel was funny. (I have much longer hairs than yours, though, sorry.) Just trying to plow through, but that was cool.
I appreciate you and thank you for making content.
Our misses Reynolds, Trash and objects in space are the best ones
A lovely reaction. Have a great day.
I know it's been many years, so can you spoil stuff? Not really, but i really hate spoilers in titles of videos. I watch a lot of Firefly reactions, but on principle, I won't be watching yours. I have paused your video to write this comment and will be removing your channel from my feed.
Mal...It means 'Bad'...in the Latin...=))
If you take advantage of that girl you'll go to the special place in hell reserved for people you speak in the cinema
Just a sad, sad episode.
Watching your face when you are reacting to this show it almost seems that you are enjoying it more than I did. (not sure that's possible but I love your reaction to this) 🥰
