From regular golf, I’ve always let my leading shoulder push my head back and then when you throw, your lagging shoulder pushes your head forward for a clean fluid movement.
Was scrubbing through your throws frame by frame and noticed you sometimes do something on your pull through that is very similar that I see in my own form. At 18:42 you can see your left shoulder starts to scrunch up while the disc becomes 45ish degrees with backside of disc up. I do this EVERY TIME when trying to crank on a drive, even when I try to focus on not doing this exact thing. Have you found ways to try to fix/minimalize this in your field work and practice?
Hi I enjoyed watching this video and will give the advise a try. I do notice you do not rotate over your heel at the end blocking your knee which will lead to knee issues.
Scott Stokely in his clinics says to not worry about where your head position is. If you do the 5 steps to a backhand correctly, all form will take care of itself
For some, that may work. For others, it may not. Every sport I have played or coached has had some element of making sure your head is under control, though. It's just the way it is.
@@discsmd I gotcha. Don't you also believe it's important to not have many swing thoughts though. Put head down, power pocket, explode hips, follow through, get snap, nose angle, hip elbow shoulder, and 20 other things all in under .5 seconds. No one can be successful doing that.
Keep that elbow lower and tighter and use it to drive your body around. With your elbow higher your center of gravity is higher which can cause you to fall into your brace instead of rotating into and through your brace. If you are having trouble doing it, then bend your knees more and bend over at the waist a little more so you can really feel the difference. When it comes to form, don't try to break it down one thing at a time, it won't work. Learn to feel your form, it should effortless. Everything is a lever, if you lift your foot up and move your hips forward your elbows are going to come back and your shoulders will rotate... if you keep your off arm low and drive it through your hips will follow... if you keep your head low and don't bring it up to watch the disc your shoulders won't lift causing you to sky a disc. Learn how all the levers work together then start messing with different things like pull through speed or driving your hips early or late. The best disc golf teacher is yourself, you need to know what feels right for your form. Some people are better with that compact run up like McBeth, other people are tall and lengthy like Gannon or James, some people have ape arms and can bring a disc back so far you would think they are stretch armstrong. Learn what works best for you based on your timing. Timing is everything.
Exactly. Don't let the head get ahead of the disc.
Good to see you back in the comment section, brother. ;)
Great drill sequence Bunny. Will be trying for sure!I need to back track on your vids.....
So much good content to watch! It's tough to see it all.
Great insights! Thank you.

Yep, that's the idea! Thanks!

That is next in my list to work on! So a video will certainly be coming for that.

Yep, I am building a tee box for the house because of this. My grass doesn't let my toe rotate. Glad you liked the video!

Throwing with your head is one of the worse things.
Gotta stay head neutral so the body doesn't try and follow the head.
