I think fundamental skills are actually where expert level skills are developed. I am new at disc golf, but have played drums for many years. When I was starting I thought I could skip ahead by practicing the really badass songs I wished I could play, but the reality is that treating everything like you are a beginner every time is where the gains are made. Your throws look effortless because you see the fundamentals behind what makes it all work.
OK, I admit there is 'Lots to Like' here because it's what I teach too lol. 1. YES get that pad of the middle finger jammed into the rim, (not the side of the middle finger!). 2. YES, get one of those 3 grips working comfy for ya: Stacked or Split or 2 fingers. 3. YES do NOT turnover your wrist....keep your hand upside down like serving a plate to someone. 4 YES start at the END of the throw. Easy does it and no walkup even. Just flick it out there to get that flat flight with no wobble thing down pat. 5 YES, lead with your elbow and 'flick' it off the middle finger last. 6 YES power comes from the flick and the easy flat throw, not the run-up and trying too hard. 7 YES the more hyzer/under the release, the more understable the disc. The more Anhyzer/over the release, the more overstable the disc so it will come back for you. YES this is a Great video.

I just started really playing this year, and have been trying to figure out why I struggle in the (RH) forehand with understable discs where sometimes (usually when I’m trying to throw it hard) they kind of turn left and then sort of flip verticle and ‘knife’ toward the ground. It hadn’t occurred to me that I might be turning my hand over like you said, more like the throwing motion I’d use in other sports. Thanks for pointing out that potential cause for me to look at and fix!
Your Welcome, I’ve gotten better lately at forehanding less stable discs, it definitely took some time for me, I hade to do some field practice and try throwing different disc stabilities with different angles. when I started it was always an over stable discs on an anhyzer. I bet with some practice you’ll get it down :)
I know I’m like 8 months late but you just got a new subscriber and great video just basics so yup I’m hitting the field after work to get my forehand better before Sundays bag tag tournament for me
Just try and focus on getting the disc to push off the middle finger or middle finger pushing off the disc with a little pressure. Imagine your middle finger cocking back then pushing forward. Usually when people are wobbling it's mainly because of their grip and release.
That's ridiculously smooth for a forehand. I feel I'm getting better at them, but I'm scared I'll pull my shoulder out of its socket... so I stick to little shots under 50 metres, 165ft.
It’s a throw that can lead to injury sooner If done incorrectly but if you find a way to do it correctly I believe it’s a great tool to have in bag lol

Is your arm pretty loose, without any tension, when reaching back? My wobble seems to stop when I'm superloose reahing back until the point of the flick/release. At that point I will apply pressure and hold the disc tighter. Not sure if I'm loosing distance that way.. Great vid btw!
Yea it’s pretty loose on way back, when it comes forward I use more muscles so it does get tighter in that sense but it’s still not ever really tight, if that makes any sense lol

I'm new to the sport, and I have hyper extended my elbow a few times with improper form. As my form is getting better, my elbow isn't hurting. I still wear an elbow brace to not aggravate it while I play
My job is physically demanding and I got severe tennis elbow a while back. I couldn’t make a fist or turn a door nob, it was bad. it’s better now I had to take 3 months off and be on light duty, I wear it now for precautionary purposes. I don’t want it to flair back up. I’ve read it’s easier to come back up if you have had it before. That’s the reason
Just because I wear a sleeve doesn’t mean my forehand isn’t effortless.. it’s not what caused it
@@DiscManiac28 I kid. You gave good tips.
Throw the disc more. 9 minute vid and you only show viewers you throwing the disc twice.
My elbow hurt watching this lmao 🤣 I need to wrap my shit up for forehand shots
Lol 😆
