I've tried many versions of this from youtube over the years. Some take hours to take effect. This one was the fastest - it was instant. Doing it for two minutes makes a big difference. I'm so grateful!
Yesterday, I rode a very rough wooden roller coaster...and got a little dehydrated. I woke up this morning, with intense vertigo. Several months ago, I went to an indoor concert, and was near the speakers. That next morning, I had very mild vertigo...not bad, just weird. I posted my symptoms on FB (cause I work in an Operating Room, and have hundreds of RN's Dr.'s and other medical professionals as friends...figured someone knew something...and 1 did). I google'd vertigo, and discovered Epley maneuver. I found this video, and did it myself. After I completed it, I threw up violently, and I am 100% cured. Thank you very much!
I've had dizziness one or two times a year for nearly ten years that occurs when looking up. The bouts last from a few weeks to sometimes months, and can be very debilitating. I was unfamiliar with any of this information, but after watching this video i gave this method a try on my own. My current bout was ongoing for the last two weeks, but after one attempt my symptoms disappeared. I'm both amazed and grateful to both you and your son. Thank you!
I just wanted to share my gratitude with you for sharing this video. I've suffered with poor balance for about 12 years. After watching this with my wife we went and applied what we learned in your video. It worked. I feel like I'm close to 100% balance wise. I can't tell if I'm a little off balance when I test myself by balancing on one leg with my eyes closed or if its just weak muscles from being somewhat inactive because of my past condition. It's always a treat and an honor to come across a true humanitarian! Thanks again! And infinite blessings to you and your loved ones!
I went to an ENT a few years ago and this saved my life! My vertigo was interferring with my daily life, but they did this procedure and I was vertigo free for a while and once it did come back I repeated it myself at home and no problems ever since. Those of you who are suffering this looks silly but it works wonders!
Spent almost 4 hours in urgent care today and ended up with no diagnosis even though I mentioned BPPV seemed to match my symptoms perfectly. Tried this maneuver following your very clear instructions and vertigo is gone - thank you VERY much for taking the time to put this together.
Holy cow, this worked! Thanks Dr. Johns!!!!! This same vertigo thing happened to me years ago in college, and I was in bed for 3 days. I was too freaked out to go to the doctor back then because I thought I had some inoperable brain tumor or something. No youtube at the time. I got it again 4 days ago in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. I went to bed just fine and woke up at 3 am with the room spinning. It was as if a switch had been flipped. After four days of feeling like I was going to vomit all over myself I found your video and my wife did the maneuver on me. When I tested each ear it was completely obvious it was my right ear as I got zero dizziness turning my head to the left and when I turned to the right, yack. So it definitely was one of those crystals floating around. She brought me down like you showed, turning head to the right, and major spinning. Then to the left and nothing for a minute and then whamo - sudden spinning room for 5 seconds, then face down and no more room movement. So did the crystal move out of the canal during that last 5 second period? Is there a way to prevent it in the future? Are there head positions to avoid to keep from moving the crystal back in the wrong place? Or does this particular crystal go back into solution, get stuck to something or otherwise never come back and bother me? Or could it have been the very same one that messed me up in college? I can't imagine how many MDs would have given me drugs and sent me home. I hope every GP and ENT in the world sees this video. I had a colleague at work get bad vertigo last year. He was maybe 30 and was walking around with a cane looking pretty miserable for a few weeks. I wonder if this was all he needed. I'm guessing from he hit count this is not an uncommon issue.
Thank you Dr John, most concise and clear explanation of the manoeuvres on UA-cam. I'm a chiropractor and giving patients info that is clear and concise is sometimes difficult. Thank you again.
I wish I had known about this three years ago! My vertigo recurred recently and Epley's maneuver worked great. Feels awful when you are doing it but for me just one maneuver worked. I do have that "off" feeling but expect it to go away. Your explanation and demonstration are very thorough and clear. As a nursing instructor, I have passed this on to my students. Thank you.
@SEEK TRUTH yes it did. Eleven years later I have had no more vertigo or woozy feelings. I work out, canoe, kayak, hike, snowshoe, and paddle board with no dizziness or problems.
I have been miserable with vertigo. I followed your instructions and I think it is gone. Thanks to you and your son. I appreciate both of you very much.
Good video and this maneuver really works. I had my BPPV for 4 weeks before I was able to get to a PT who specialized in vestibular treatment. It took two visits to get me clear, but I'm 100% better now. When doing these exercises, the vertigo will be intense, but just remember it only lasts a matter of seconds and will subside. I had severe vertigo on all three positions, and felt a bit dizzy sitting up. It was so scary the first time doing it, but well worth it in the end! I felt a bit worse for a day or two afterward, but a week later, I tried the Dix-Hallpike test again, and I was clear! Some people are clear after the first exercise. For some others, it takes several times. I now have my life back because of this maneuver. Thank you so much!
Thank you Dr. Johns! I didn't have a particularly severe case, but I believe it is gone with my first attempt. I'm so thankful I found this video and didn't waste any time and money in going to the doctor first. Best to you.
I did this at home with my husband's help yesterday and it worked for me the first time. I was on meclizine, but the sensation was still very intense. It was hard to hold the positions, and I did a lot of the "saying Aaahhh" that you mentioned. I held for the 2 minutes you said, rather than the 30 seconds some of the other videos say, and that gave time for the room to stop spinning. There was residual nausea for an hour or so after the maneuver. I am still slightly "off" this morning, maybe 2% of the dizziness remaining, but I am also still dehydrated from yesterday's meds. Maybe I will try the maneuver one more time. In any case, you saved me 5 days of misery and not driving, while I waited for my ENT appointment. I am so grateful!
The secret is in waiting 2 minutes b4 the next movement for the Epley to really work!! Dr. Johns after 4 months I can only say Thank you a million times!!!
I don't comment to often on UA-cam, but this method truly helped me. I appreciate you uploading this. If the technique is done properly it fully resolves vertigo. I do have a little dizziness still, but it's nothing like before, seems like it's clearing up nicely. Being able to lay my head back without my world blurring is such a relief. Thanks Again for the video doc.
Thank You !! A year ago I had vertigo for about a month. Last week I got it 10 times worse! I could not sit up or stand 60 sec without getting sick and throwing up. After searching Google I found your video and tried it by myself. OMG! You saved my life!!! Can't believe something so simple fixed an awful case of vertigo. You and your son are awesome! Thank you so so much !!!!
Wow, I just performed this on myself, exactly as instructed, supporting my head and I can't believe this, but it worked!!!! I have been suffering with vertigo for 5 months! Thank u so much!!!!!
@@pinkahboo925 There is some evidence that Foster's half somersault maneuver causes less dizziness/spinning than the Epley. I have never used it myself, as I find the Epley works just fine. If you have some over the counter anti-nausea medication, taking this before the Epley might lessen the unpleasant feelings a bit. It's easy to find videos on the half somersault..
I want to thank you so much for this video. My husband and I had to try it several times, finally with him taking notes, before we finally got it right and performed it correctly. I’ve had vertigo for three days (over a Friday and weekend when you can’t get professional help) but I think we are successful. It hit me around midnight Friday and I had to wake my husband because I was afraid I was having a stroke! Bless his heart he held me while I threw up and we nearly called 911, but I realized it was vertigo instead. Anyway, thank you and your son for getting thru a terrible weekend! ❤
This video is old, but I used it 2 years ago to help a family member and it really helped. I came back for a refresher...for a friend. Cured my family illness right at home
I think this actually has worked for me. Thank you!!!! I was starting to get very depressed that the dizziness would never go away. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this info available for everyone.
I second that!! At first, I thought "Could it really be this simple?". But, Peter, you absolutely nailed it. The vertigo was exactly as you described, went away after the first complete maneuver, and I did have that "off" sensation for a couple days (going away now). Wow! Thanks!
What's the OFF sensation you had for a couple of days? Dizzy? Losing balance? I'm with numb fingers and a bit dizzy (as if seasick) , that's why I'm asking. THanks for your kindness. Best Regards, RG
I developed what seemed to be positional vertigo this past weekend. I searched for solutions early Tuesday morning (3:30am), as I was so dizzy after getting out of bed. I learned about BPPV...searched youtube for Epley maneuver and...all I can say is wow. I did have a terrible headache with some slight vertigo throughout the day yesterday, but I think this healed me. Thank you so much for this extremely informative video...it saved me a trip to the doctor.
Thank you so much. I was still slightly dizzy after recovering from Motion Sickness, but the slight dizziness lingered for almost a week. I did the evaluation shown in the video which was demonstrated amazingly well. Now, one day later, my slight dizziness is gone.
My brother-in-law has recurring vertigo- he said this video is a lifesaver-- and that if you go through it once and still feel dizzy, that going through it twice he has never had it not work..putting it out there that maybe two rounds may be in order...I recently went to the outer banks- climbing lighthouses, riding ferries, ocean and wind- and came back all dizzy..I waited it out for a few days thinking it was just getting my land legs back..he referred me to your video and wow! I was functional before, but it was annoying feeling out of step like I was walking sideways. I am very grateful you took the time to make this video, it helped me a ton!!
I had spinning of the room vertigo when laying down, sitting up and bending my neck to look down. Performed these exercises on both ears (both sides) - helped completely after just one session! Thanks so much for posting it!
I did this to brother last night. He works nights and when he woke up had vertigo. It was his first time. We did the procedure exactly how the video instructed. Ten minutes after completing he had much improvement. This morning he is up and around. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge I did the Epley procedure on my 81 year old Mother today. She has suffered from Vertigo for many years and it worked! I was so pleased to be able to ease her suffering all with your help!
The Epley maneuver will work- 1. If you have posterior canal BPPV. 2. If you figure out which side is the affected side (as explained in the video) 3. If you do put your head through the positions by yourself. Then you have about an 80% chance of curing yourself. If it doesn't work the first time, you can repeat the maneuver, say twice a day for a few days. This increases the chance of cure over 90%. If you have another cause of vertigo than BPPV, or do it wrong, then it will not work at all.
I am now going through hell with Vertigo..vomiting! My son did the Epley Maneuver on me yesterday, I was ceeling much better until today Thurs..when I went and laid down next to my Autistic son to see if he would nap so I could rest..I was on my right side then as I was turning on my left, I thought the ceiling was coming down and the spinning would not stop..today his wife did it on me 2xs and I am still dizzy so afraid to get up. I heard that Ginger is good for this..has anyone tried Ginger?
Appreciate Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you ever tried - Schallingora Automatically Update Scheme (do a search on google)? It is a great exclusive guide for getting rid of virtigo without the headache minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my buddy after many years got great results with it.
Diagnosed with BPPV. Husband watched your easy to understand video. He performed the Epley maneuver on me at home. It took a couple of times but it WORKED! Thank you to you and your son!
I had vertigo 2x in the last week. Was feeling slightly dizzy for a few days. Came across this video luckily and tried it immediately. Felt better instantly. I was amazed at all of the positive comments so I had to try it. Glad I came across this video...Will post updates down the line
Thank you so much for this video!!! On Sunday I woke up with horrible vertigo. Come thursday it was still going on. Everything would spin when I looked up/down, but the worst was when I would lay down. I did this by myself and the vertigo is gone!! I still feel kinda fuzzy and everything's a little off, but from what I've read, that can take a few weeks to go away. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!
Thanks Peter, Two years ago I had the problem. My Doctor sent me for a cat can, and then after 3 months to an audiologist. The audiologist performed the procedure. A few months later I performed the procedure myself and it worked. My Daughter in-law had the problem and I showed her your demonstration and she was cured. Thanks again Ed
My wife had severe Vertigo and tried all sorts of treatment. I found your video and tried it on my wife! It worked!! Amazing! Gonna share this with my friends!! Thanks!!
I teach other doctors how to do this, and made this video for this purpose. Family doctors, emergency doctors neurologists, ENT doctors all see patients with vertigo. Some are interested in it, some are not. I suspect yours is not. Wouldn't be a bad thing to relate your experience and frustration to your doctor, and give them the link to this video. If patients can learn how to do this from my video, I know doctors can too, if they are interested. Glad to hear you are better!
Thank you for posting this video. My ENT PA did this for me years ago and I was shocked that it worked. I have since found and shared your video with others whose doctors just put them on medication! This is so simple and no medication is needed.
Thank you so very, very much for uploading this video. I just started having vertigo this year but it runs very strongly in my family. Anyway, my husband and I were taught the Epley when we went to a local doc, but it wasn't working for us this week. We watched your video and the main differences were the two minute waits and the ten min. after. It worked! Thank you!!
Hi, This definitely helped. and i don't get dizzy anymore when i lie down on the hallpike side. But now im slighty groggy even while sitting and standing. is that normal?
Last time did this with husband was 6 years ago, needs it again today. Thinks his problem may start with long flight. My brother told me to check UA-cam for this (6 yrs ago) as he had seen patients in emerg with vertigo when a younger doctor suggested Epley Maneuver. Demonstrated and it worked and old doc was impressed (first impulse was maybe some sort of surgery). Works, one could do it on self, if not feeling too lousy to watch this to learn how.
PowwowTime The otoliths are normal structures of the inner ear. It is when they are displaced from the utricle to the semicircular canals that the problem with BPPV arises. I don't know of any co-relation with diet.
Here is an edit 4 years later. In fact, there may be a co-relation between BPPV and vitamin D levels. Early days yet, but in the future we may advise people with BPPV to take vitamin D.
@@PeterJohns very interesting! Can dental work cause bppv? 2 years ago a dentist hit my nerve with the drill...I have never felt the same and all dr's say it's anxiety.
Millions of thanks for posting this video.. I've had severe vertigo for 12 days. Have seen 4 doctors, took medicines..nothing has worked for me! Thanks to you my vertigo is gone in 10 minutes after applying what you explained in this video! It is like a miracle..thanks so much Dr. Johns!!
I was feeling very dizzy everytime I moved my head and when I tried this I laid down and performed the maneuver to the right. It seems like it definitely helped, but after I did it I felt pressure in my right ear. Is that normal?
Hello Peter Johns I am suffering from BPPV on and off since years and this is the first time I was able with the help of my husband to fix it. Thank you so much for sharing this on You tube, you made my day! :)
Thanks Dr Peter, I had the spin going on for 4 weeks while turning right in bed, 2 doctor visits did not help and I came across this yesterday, did what you said twice and it's gone, I did not feel dizzy the second time and haven't since, really grateful and thanks for sharing this. God bless.
Thanks for taking the time do make this video. I was recently diagnosed with BPPV (terrible vertigo). This maneuver was performed in the doctor's office and it helped somewhat. So I watched your video and did this at home, and a week later...no more vertigo. Thanks again.
I had BPV for a month and my doctor said to make the dizziness occurr, but.....he didn't clarify it to be the Epley Maneuver. I just now saw your video ...I did what you showed on it and....it WORKED!!!! Thank you so much
Yep, this really worked for me. Vertigo is horrible and disabling. It is wonderful to have an instant, effective treatment. No more waiting for days for it to clear. Thank you so much.
I first had this problem about 5 years ago. It returned the other day. Your video is the best explanation on how to do this. I did the full 2 minutes for each turn and , although I felt a little out of sorts for the rest of the day, I didn't feel the need to stay upright for 48 hours. Thank you for posting!
My girlfriend just started to have the same symptoms last night this morning I found your video and followed your instructions what a great help it has been Thank you for sharing this with the public.
Thanks Johns, I live in Africa and was in bed for 5 weeks with a bad dizziness and slowly I got better. Next time when it started again I had done my homework and I decided to test the maneuver - and it WORKED!!!! You cant imagine what a relief it is to be able to cure myself. Thank you and your son for this excellent video.
Thanks a million, my wife has just had a shocking week, finally came across BPPV, tried following a couple techniques from other videos with no impact, your technique fixed it, lie back test produced no dizziness or eye movement, thanks for posting your video
Thank you so much Peter and John for posting this video. I have had BPPV twice over the past few years, occurring in the middle of the night. It's frightening with the nausea and everything, and with the help of your video technique we got rid of it both times.
My sincere thanks to you, and your son, for posting this! Been having bad vertigo for a week. Never had it before. My wife helped me do this, took one try and I am cured!
Thank You! I had an episode of BPPV about 5 years ago and it took over a week of exercises before the dizziness and nausea were resolved. So when I woke up Saturday morning with the same symptoms and had a very important business trip planned for the following Monday, I was worried. In desperation, I had my husband help me with the maneuver after watching your video. It worked after one try!
I was suffering from dizziness since 4-5 days and was taking MECLIZINE (25 MG) AND DIAZEPAM (5MG) every 8 hours as prescribed by my doctor. But it did not help. I tried this with the help of my wife and I coulnt believe the dizziness went away. Will see if it comes again in the coming days. Thanks a ton for this very good video. God Bless you!!
Thank you Dr. Johns for taking the time to make this video, it has helped me immensely and I am sure countless others. The technique removed my vertigo on the affected side almost immediately. However, I was left with a general sense of dizziness/nausea for a day and a half. I felt pretty bad during that time period, but on the third day I was back to my usual self (first time in a long time). I am now vertigo+dizziness free! I can play with my kids again without feeling sick. Once again, thank you!
A certain amount of residual dizziness is common after a successful epley maneuver. Here is a recent article on it. Residual Dizziness after Successful Repositioning Maneuver for Idiopathic Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo: A Review Giorgia Giommetti, Ruggero Lapenna, Roberto Panichi, Puya Dehgani Mobaraki, Fabrizio Longari, Giampietro Ricci, Mario Faralli Audiology Research 2017 February 1, 7 (1): 178 I'm glad you're feeling better!
Thanks!! My husband woke up with vertigo this morning, which has never happened to either of us. We live 2 hours from the nearest healthcare so we decided to try this and it seems to have worked. Others should be forewarned, though: the maneuvers may cause nausea or vomiting. He feels much better now though.
Thank you for the video, it worked!!!! My doctor had me doing the epley but I wasn't told to let my head dangle back at that angle nor did he explain how to decipher which side was the problem...so my vertigo continued for weeks! I had my husband assist me with your instructional video & I'm 100% better....1st try. We appreciate it very much! If there was a way to pay for your help...I would in a heartbeat.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting this information out to the public. I watched this video several times and finally decided to try the hall pike test. I actually found out my right ear was the positive side. I did the Epley Maneuver that night with the help of my daughter. When I switched my head from right to left....OH MAN....I was feeling another vertigo attack, but I remember in your video you said that if that happens, that just means the crystals are moving and the maneuver is working. So I hung in there and finished through with it. When I sat up I didn't quite know what to think, so I sat for 10 minutes there, then went and watched some TV and went to bed. When I woke up in the morning..THERE WAS NO VERTIGO!!! I even tried to see if I could trigger it, and nothing happened! So this is day 2, and so far so good. Thank you for your help! I've been dealing with this for 2 months, and wish they would have done this for me at the E.R. when I first had it!!
Correctly diagnosed as BPPV, I had over one week of all the nasty side effects. After viewing the video and repeating the procedure (I did it before bed time and sat upright for 10 min. prior to reclining for sleep) I've now had one week of NO symptoms of BPPV; will share the u-Tube link with my Physician and update him on the results. Thank you Peter.
Thank you Dr Peter John thank you so so much...this video helped me back in 2012 after suffering for months , today I woke up with vertigo and was scared to do it alone at home , then I watched the video many times ...then in the afternoon I did it and the vertigo is gone...thank God and thank you...for helping so many people😘😘😘😘😘 I am from Jordan
Wow, Thankyou Thankyou.. I thought I would try this today as I have suffered from Vertigo for Two months now... I repeated exactly three times... First two times were quiet violent attacks, third time now no Vertigo attack... You have no idea how happy I am, and grateful... Thankyou Peter.... Isabel
This is far and way the best video I have seen on this subject. All of my questions left over from watching other videos and reading other descriptions were anticipated and clearly addressed by Johns. Bravo.
Wow, thanks Doc. My wife helped me with this technique. I got my first vertigo imbalance this weekend and fortunately came across this video. Feeling better. Thank you for selflessly sharing.
Dr.Johns, thanks so much for sharing this video. It helped me treating my mom with suspected BPPV symptoms at home and she feels better now. Thank you again!
Thanks, I like how you explained how to treat both sides, as some people might not even realise which side it’s coming from as they just feel dizzy. Some vids only teach how to treat one side, so the person might try it and if it didn’t work, think they must have another problem, when really they should have done the other side etc.. this helped me a few years ago, and helpx me again today! Thank you.
Yes, dizzy experts that only show one side of the Epley maneuver underestimate the confusion that can be made if you don't show both sides. Glad this now around 15 year old video could still help you!
Peter Johns Yep, it’s the kind of thing that I would wonder about, but others would probably tell me, it must be just the one manoeuvre, otherwise they would have shown another, etc.. Lol! I’m glad you’re video is still up and no doubt helping others too. It was the first thing I though to watch when I woke, then sat up dizzy. It’s scary at first, because I thought it might be something serious, but then I remembered having a similar experience about 5 years ago, and I hoped that’s what it was! After following your instructions, it has definitely subsided. Still a bit groggy, but not waking around feeling like I have a giant ball bearing in my head swaying me about! Lol! Thanks again! 🙏
Thank you for coming from the past and give me the cure to this terrible problem, I think this video have the best explanation on youtube, again thank you.
I developed BPPV about 5 years ago. I was alarmed as the dizziness progressed over several weeks. I planned to visit a doctor but after researching online, decided to try the Eply maneuver myself. I did it at work by myself and it took about 30 minutes. WOW!!! It eliminated most of my symptoms after the first run. Just to be safe, I performed it again immediately. I can say that I not had ANY symptoms since!!!!. I think Dr. JohnEply is a genious!
i had a bad case of BPPV and didn't have internet or doctor access for a few weeks, so when i was finally back in the city, i found this video, followed it to the letter twice and it went away entirely. it is now 2 months later, and no reoccurrence at all. so - thanks!
This is a great video, well informed and accurate. This will help many people with BPPV. As mentioned in some of the other posts. It will not help all types of vertigo, especially if it is a side effect. Also be careful for geriatric people because of orthostatic hypotension, they may feel light headed dizzy or faint with quick movements.
I was bothered by vertigo for whole week, I don't like going to see doctors and hate taking medication knowing problem still there, I was skeptical about this epley maneuver at first but I was in so much pain and finally gave it a try, I can't believe it worked after just first try!!! Thank you soooo much for sharing this video!!!!!!
Funny enough, the whole reason I got interested in vertigo was that I heard about the Epley maneuver and I was skeptical and thought it must be nonsense, so looked up the papers and it clearly wasn't!
I Give You a 1000000% My girlfriend send me this video because I was diagnosed with vertigo and my oldest daughter did this exercise with me and never ever again got vertigo. God Bless You Doctor🙏🙏🙏
Hi Mr. Johns your video help my wife here in Brazil. No more drugs after The Epley Maneuver. Thank you very much by spend your time helping peoples. You're great! :-) Be happy!
Hello... I'm 65 and have never had BPPV before. Was quite surprised when it hit me in the middle of the night about a week ago (after a long viral cold - sneezing and blowing nose for over 4 weeks). Used Google to learn the problem... and found your video as a possible solution. I followed your instruction video - on my own - precisely: and the symptom immediately disappeared. Thank you very much! (aah... the benefits of the digital age ;-) -Steve
Thanks! I found that most of the other videos don't show how to determine which is the affected side, and also they don't demonstrate both the left and right ear maneuvers. Glad it worked for you!
This was so great, thank you! It was my third recurrence of BPPV and I was on Cape Cod, far from my doc, but your video allowed me and my three friends to diagnose and cure me. That was 3 days ago and no dizziness since. I was a bit exhausted for a couple of days but I feel fine now. Thanks! PS. I checked with my doctor before trying it.
This video is awesome!! I had been suffering from this bppv for about a month now I have not slept well and been sick and losing weight cause I can't eat from being nauseas I went to the Dr and he said what it was but said there was not much that could be done as far as treatment goes gave me meclizine and sent me on my way. I had the best night of sleep last night that I've had in over a month I was even able to eat breakfast and drink my coffee without feeling sick. Many many thanks to you sir.
Thank you for this video - I've suffered with BPPV since October 1999 (on/off) and have just performed this procedure on myself with successful results! Just brilliant!!
Hi Mr./Dr. Johns. Thank you so much for posting this video. I was diagnosed with BBPV a few years ago and given some exercises by my doctor similar to your routine, but not exactly like it. The routine given to me made the condition much worse without fixing the issue, so I dreaded performing the exercises. When BBPV hit, I would just have to wait for it to go away by itself which could be days or even weeks. My BBPV came back a few days ago and I was just limping through it when I found your video. Your exact procedure worked fantastic and now it is completely gone! I can't believe it ! ! ! Thanks to you and your excellent helper for taking the time to make this video! Cheers from Nashville, Bryan...
Peter Johns Yes, sorry. However, I think some docs aren't teaching it properly. In fact, I got a hand-out from my doc that isn't the same as the procedure you outline, although it is close (doesn't suspend head downwards and has me sit up and down over and over). Thanks again! Cheers...
Going to try this tonight. I have been suffering with BPV for a number of year now, off and on. My doctor told me that he needs to recreate the dizzy spells in order to do this maneuver, which is not accurate, so will try tonight with the help of my husband. Hoping this will fix my head!!
Thank you so much for this. I viewed a lot of videos demonstrating this technique and found yours to be the best by far. The inclusion of the Hallpike test was very instructional and gave me confidence that the Epley maneuver would work.....and it did! So grateful.
Thanks to this video i got better. I did it with my daughters help and it work 100%. I was sick for about 3 weeks could't do anything not even drive thanks to this video I got my life back....
Peter - Thank you for this very clear explanation for the Epley Maneuver. I had had a stroke when I was 36. For a few days before my 60th birthday I began feeling very dizzy just like my stroke episode. I was very scared, did my face test to check for a possible TIA and did some research on WebMD about dizzy spells which ultimately brought me to your video. This maneuver cleared my dizziness with only a slight residual feeling and by the next morning, I was right as rain. Thank you!! And congratulations on One Mill. hits!
I've had vertigo four 4 months and this video helped me cure it in 10 minutes. thanks so much for posting this.

Glad to hear you're better!
Really
Bob Shaw hi Bob. Did you ever get an answer about if the crystals go back into solution or if they can return?
Thanks
Much gratitude to you both! And what a gift to have a son willing to help you demonstrate.
Should we try this maneuver once a day? Mine should take several times, I'm still dizzy, but I'm afraid of repeating on some day and getting worse.
Glad to hear you're feeling better. Mostly people can probably get away with one minute in each position, but I don't think it hurts to do 2 minutes.
Keri Skorka Sorry to hear you suffered so long but nice that you're better. Continued good health!
@@PeterJohns is there a way to make this manuever less scary?
Tell me, please, did you have both semicircular canals affected? Do you feel dizzy when turning in bed and left and right? Thank you ☀️
I did this to brother last night. He works nights and when he woke up had vertigo. It was his first time. We did the procedure exactly how the video instructed. Ten minutes after completing he had much improvement. This morning he is up and around. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks again, It's been 8 months since your video cured me.
Good to hear. Today this video hit 1,000,000 views.
If it has helped even 1% of those who have seen it, I would be very happy!
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge I did the Epley procedure on my 81 year old Mother today. She has suffered from Vertigo for many years and it worked! I was so pleased to be able to ease her suffering all with your help!
The Epley maneuver will work-
1. If you have posterior canal BPPV.
2. If you figure out which side is the affected side (as explained in the video)
Thank you so much! My wife was suffering for two months. Followed your instructions and after one go it was gone! Thanks again!
This worked for me. I felt dizzy while doing it, but afterwards the dizziness has never returned. That was more than 4 months ago.
Jean L-J may aunt is suffering of this, did u do the same way? i will try it to my aunt..
I followed the instructions exactly. My husband timed me 2 minutes in each position.
Lucky you👍
Diagnosed with BPPV. Husband watched your easy to understand video. He performed the Epley maneuver on me at home. It took a couple of times but it WORKED! Thank you to you and your son!
Good to hear!
+Jeannette Brown Probably less than that. Glad to hear you're feeling better!
+Peter Johns You are officially my hero! Thank you again so much!
I’m terrified that once my head starts spinning during the maneuver it won’t stop. Is it possible
Great to hear that!
Amazing video ! I'm a med student and this helped a lot to understand the whole procedure. Thanks a lot
Very informative and clear video, this helped me- Thank-you! 3rd year medical student
You're welcome!
It sometimes last for a day or two.
Omg!!! This worked!! Thank you thank you so so much Dr. Johns. 😭

Thanks Peter. I am a Dr in the UK and have always struggled to do the Epley manoeuvre until now! Your video is very clear. Thanks again, James.
@@laurenawal33 I haven't heard of this.
@@PeterJohns thank you very much for the response!
Johns!!
You are most welcome!
I was feeling very dizzy everytime I moved my head and when I tried this I laid down and performed the maneuver to the right. It seems like it definitely helped, but after I did it I felt pressure in my right ear. Is that normal?
Same here. What to do???
Best description of the procedure on UA-cam.
Hello Peter Johns
I am suffering from BPPV on and off since years and this is the first time I was able with the help of my husband to fix it.
God bless.
Glad you got relief. Your comment about the doctors you saw is all too common unfortunately.
You're welcome
I first had this problem about 5 years ago. It returned the other day. Your video is the best explanation on how to do this. I did the full 2 minutes for each turn and , although I felt a little out of sorts for the rest of the day, I didn't feel the need to stay upright for 48 hours. Thank you for posting!
My girlfriend just started to have the same symptoms last night this morning I found your video and followed your instructions what a great help it has been
Thank you for sharing this with the public.
You're welcome!
Awesome, I’ve been using your technique for ten years, I’ve shared it with others as well, 100% satisfaction. Thank you
Thanks Johns, I live in Africa and was in bed for 5 weeks with a bad dizziness and slowly I got better.
+AnnA Excellent! Glad you're feeling better!

I'm glad you're feeling better!
You just did! :)
Glad you're feeling better!
I just spent days in a tornado and after repeating this twice today I’m on the mend. Thank you so much.
Thank you Dr Peter John thank you so so much...this video helped me back in 2012 after suffering for months , today I woke up with vertigo and was scared to do it alone at home , then I watched the video many times ...then in the afternoon I did it and the vertigo is gone...thank God and thank you...for helping so many people😘😘😘😘😘
I am from Jordan
Wonderful to hear, glad you're feeling better!
Thank you, Dr Johns, you are terrific. From neurology resident who spends half day in the ED
Isabel
Super! I wish you continued good health!
Thank you for giving me back my life!!! Never did I think something as simple as this, could make the horrible vertigo go away.
Glad to hear. Hope you have continued good health.
Peter Johns ps thanks to your Son for helping to demonstrate too! Great job!
Thank you for coming from the past and give me the cure to this terrible problem, I think this video have the best explanation on youtube, again thank you.
Thanks! I'm still here in the present!
I just wanted to let you know that the technique worked like a charm. I was amazed. Thank you so much.😀😀🙏
This is a great video, well informed and accurate.
:-) Be happy!
tetraetila ® Great to hear!
Really a good video, like the others of your channel. Thanks a lot Doctor, I'm a colleague and I will spend you teachings in my job. Thank you again
Awesome to see people using this even 11 years later
Peter this is a great, simple video, no fluff and very concise. Lets see the lateral canal work soon! -Dr.SS
Thank you so much!! My husband was able to cure my vertigo following this amazing tutorial. So grateful!
Good to hear!
Great to hear you're better!
Cheers from Nashville,
Bryan...
Thanks for your kind words, but it's not "my" procedure. You can thank Dr. Epley.
Thank you!! And congratulations on One Mill. hits!
Vicki Deschaine Thanks! Glad to hear you're better!
