Hi, can someone confirm for that that the animation starting at 1:27 is accurate? I can't make sense of it.
When the affected ear is facing down, the crystal should already be falling toward the midpoint of the semicircular canal, no? Also the animation of the vestibules is rotating in the opposite direction to the animation of the patient, which makes it confusing since directionality is so important in understanding these maneuvers

THIS WORKED FOR ME! I’m a 48-year-old male from the UK. I developed what I soon realised was vertigo on a Friday evening whilst laying in bed. It was horrific, spinning followed by vomiting more spinning and vomiting. I’ve never felt so out of control in all my life, completely debilitating and exhausting. This went on all weekend until on the Sunday when I was able to sit down and have a look at some UA-cam info on the condition , I found the Epley manoeuvre and gave it a go immediately twice on the right side with no obvious effects and then once on the left. As soon as I rolled my head over I could feel the spinning and my wife said that my eyes were twitching like mad, I just managed to control it so I wasn’t sick. I went through the manoeuvre holding for 60 seconds in the 3 positions, until I eventually set up. I still felt terrible and it didn’t immediately stop the nausea side of the condition so I went to bed sat up slightly. I woke up at 2 o’clock in the morning for the first time without the room swimming in four days I could’ve cried! I rolled over where I would normally have been back in a flat spin. I went straight back to sleep and woke up like nothing had ever happened. Thank Goodness, my relief was insane. I’d encourage anyone to give it a try.

I am having mild dizziness and off balance sensations from last one month. I have been diagnosed with bppv 2 weeks ago and I've been doing all these exercises(Brandt daroff, epleys etc) daily since then. I can say the condition has improved but there are days when I get slight off balance sensations all day long. Hoping to this gets well soon.

The first time I had BPPV, about five years ago at age 45, I didn't know what was going on--thought I had a brain tumor or something! My ENT told me to do "pendulums" (sitting on edge of bed and lower head to the left side, touching the mattress, come back up, and then go down on the right side)...about 10 at a time, to loosen up the crystals. Took several days for the vertigo sensations to stop. Yesterday, the vertigo came back out of nowhere, but after watching this video (Lempert (BBQ) Maneuver to Treat BPPV Vertigo) AND the video by Fauquier ENT called Hanging Head BPPV, this makes perfect sense! You've got to completely rotate the head to get the crystals to move out of the canal. I just did the move above 3x on my bed, and did the hanging head one (since I was feeling vertigo when I tilted my head up)...and now my vertigo is completely gone! Keeping fingers crossed that it really worked...but as of now, I have no dizziness and my head feels good. Earlier today, my head was hurting so bad...now that pain seems to be lessened/gone. So happy I found this video!!

My deepest gratitude goes out to Dr. Chang and Fauquier ENT for producing these series of videos. It was very worrisome to have spinning and the accompanying nausea come on without warning. I spent a couple of days feeling very ill, but during that time, was so fortunate to come across good info that pointed to BPPV. The diagnostics flowchart and Dix-Hallpike made all the difference, as I'd been trying the Epley Maneuver, based on other Drs.' videos, but with no effect. After doing the Lempert Maneuver once before bedtime and again the next morning, the vertigo resolved itself. It's not easy to make yourself do the maneuvers when any movement precipitates such an ill feeling, but the alternative is to lengthen the hours and days you're suffering. I'm only so grateful to be myself again. Thank you again for these phenomenally well produced videos that have helped so many people through the fear and suffering the BPPV causes!

@@chaimaetachi_ I just followed directions in the video. I think it says to just hold each position until the spinning settles down/stops. That would be when the crystal reaches it's furthest point in that position. So you don't count seconds, just however long it takes. If you can't take it, try closing your eyes and then open them after maybe 30 seconds to check if no more spinning. Then move to next position.

I was uncertain as to which tube the crystal might have settled into. After having tried each one, I started to feel better and the dizziness subsided. I am still dealing with 36 hours of the aftermath but feel that I am headed in the right direction. Thank you for posting these videos. Even my physician said that this was the place to start. I also took one Dramamine at the start of day 2. This really helped me cope with the nausea that came with the head movements in the exercises. I hope that these help others. There is an underlying cause that you have not been properly tested for yet. It is "not" cancer or COVID. If you or anyone else would like proper guidance for free, please send me an email. My email address and a brief summary of what I do are in the "About" section of my UA-cam profile. Epley maneuver really works. But first you must confirm which side of the ear is the bad ear. and when you do the maneuver, please make sure your head must be lower than you chest when you lay down on the bed. And please have someone, etc wife husband brother or sister which can support your weight assist you because at then end of the exercise i fell backwards and black out for maybe few seconds. at midnight, i am feeling very dizzy and cant sleep whole night but gradually improved by lunch time the next day. today is the 2nd day after the maneuver and no more dizziness. i hope it is cured. otherwise i need to do it again and the feeling was so scary. You actually seeing the room spinning while you thought you are sitting upright but actually you are falling backwards then all goes black.

I am confused. For the first step, the narrator says to move your head 90 degrees while the body is laid back but the animation clearly shows that she starts with her head turned all the way to the right and then turns it all the way to the left (180 degrees). I’m not sure which I should follow, the narrator or the animation. Hopefully you can clear this up for me. Thank you.

I have never had vertigo in my life. Im 23, never drink alcohol and have no gotten into any injuries. This morning I woke up and fell to the ground after waking. I am fine if I don't move. I tried your maneuver and was fine for 1 second before having debilitating nausea and vertigo which subsided after 30 seconds. I then moved to the next position and the vertigo continued until I stood upright again. The symptom that is concerning me is that I get super hot and drenched in sweat. Is this normal? Why is no one else talking about the profuse sweating and heat during the vertigo attacks.
