I think about this a lot. The Mets obviously have a lot of guys with really high ceilings but they usually don’t reach them often or at all and are generally just good or slightly above average during their time with the Mets. I’m worried about letting guys like Syndergaard, Nimmo, Rosario and Matz go, because while they aren’t always that great, they were once seen as top prospects and continually show flashes of elite talent.

Born and breed in STL. I’ve said this very thing without being able to articulate it as well forever. This is precisely why the Cards are a dynasty and a lot of the best qualities from St.Louis city (yes there are some) come shining through in the development of its players. It is a working class town and to me personally that’s something I’ve always been proud of. We constantly earn it, we don’t buy it. Yeah I’m looking at you in all of your self righteousness Chicago, New York, Atlanta and so on. No you are not better than us and you never will be.

Catching in my Show franchise has been anemic league-wide, only Mitch Garver has been in the top 50 in any offensive category the past two years.
Going to move DeJong to catcher, maybe 60 blocking is fair, lower his arm stats to account for body position.

Can you do one on the Mets farm system? It seems like we never have a very good farm system, yet we developed deGrom, Alonso, Wheeler, Matz, Dom Smith, Rosario, McNeil, Conforto, Nimmo, and anyone else I’m forgetting. I don’t understand how a team that is typically considered below average in farm systems can develop that many excellent players over the past few years.

You know, I like to keep up with prospects a lot, and after seeing this video I’m just now realizing I never saw Tommy Edman’s name before he made it to the MLB, yet now he’s one of my favorite players. Devil magic, I guess. Also, you said your favorite team was the Phillies when I asked in a comment, so now I’m wondering: what do you think of the Phillies pitching staff? On the surface, they’re alright, if not above-average, but I feel like Eflin and Arrieta are underperforming and could definitely be better, and the Phils could have a surprisingly good rotation. What do you think?

    • @outtaherebaseball3205
      @outtaherebaseball3205  4 роки тому +1

They won't be an elite rotation, even if Wheeler ends up being great. Arrieta seems more like an average pitcher at this point and Eflin has some upside but I don't think he'll ever be all star level.
Their rotation won't be bad, but their ceiling isn't at the level of their rivals

I'm 29 and have been a lifelong Cardinal fan. In my youth, it was the Mark McGwire show, then when I turned 11, thus began the decade long run of the Albert Pujols saga. I've seen 4 World Series, and sadly over the past 5 years a radical decline in a team that clearly hasn't a clue how to move forward. The last of the old generation in Wainwright and Molina are on the verge of retirement. We're entering a rebuilding phase for sure.

Nah my guy we are still going to be good. We have Dylan Carlson and Nolan Gorman almost major league ready + Flaherty at the top of the rotation and Liberatore also on the come up. Give Edman and Dejong some more time to mature + Wong and we’ve got one of the best infields in the league. Also we have Hicks and if Reyes stays healthy then we’ve got one of the best bullpens with Gallegos as well. The only potential hole is at catcher but Knizner could end up being great as well

Pitching/Run Prevention was the key of the cards success. No losing seasons in the decade. Most of that goes to the credit of Yadier Molina and Adam Wainwright. Those were the guys that could steer the ship all season. Just look at last year. the Cards relied on Uncle Charlie in the postseason and he delivered(for the most part). Yadi has controlled the pitching staff for most of decade. That is why he will be a HOF

Here's a line for you. The cardinals rarely go big in free agency. If you look into the history of the cardinals organization, most of our stars have been drafted or acquired via trade.
    1. Pujols. Drafted by the card
    2. Edmonds. Trade with the angels
    3. Rolen. Trade with the Phillies
    4. Ozzie. Trade with the padres.
    5. Wainwright. Trade with the braves
    6. Yadi. Drafted by the cardinals.
The cardinals usually go for cheap utility players to fill out their roster, and it works. Go cards

Can you do a video on the failure of the Pirates. They haven’t won a World Series since 1979. What went wrong from 2010-2016. The Pirates had some good, young talent, but it went to waste.
