Bubble Column Based Multi-Floor Elevator Prototype

I've always wanted a cheap but still fairly functional multi-floor elevator in Minecraft.
The trouble is all the decently functional elevator designs are just way too big and expensive, and all of the small and cheap ones are only a minor improvement on ladders.
I think bubble columns offer the most potential for striking that balance between cheap and functional, you just need a decent way of controlling where the player gets out.
So, I've constructed a super bare-bones prototype to demonstrate the major components. I think this will work quite well... I just have to make it smaller.
