You lucky sod! Having ridden the old Street weeks ago they've literally addressed the three issues I had with it. The lights, a blipper and the dash. Plus more torque and for the same price? Take my money! Nice review sir.
I’m in my sixties and getting back into biking and am finding your channel really useful. The videos are first class informative and balanced. Really enjoying your work. Have a Harley currently but am thinking about a Thruxston R in the future as I have some great roads here in the Pyrenees.
Cheers Philip - really appreciate that. Love the Thruxton R but I’ve got to say, the Speed Twin is a cracking bike and possibly more of a versatile setup, so make sure you try one first. Also Triumph have a lot of bikes coming out at the moment. EICMA is only a month away so maybe wait to see what comes up then 🙃
'seasoned rider'? he has never even been on track before this review...so he couldn't really review the bike properly and touch on some relevant key points; he was too busy trying to impress...
Excellent review. Humble, honest and a new perspective. Love it. You've got my sub. Been to several mini-bike track days. Attending my first big bike track day tomorrow! So excited
Definitely worth a try. You can push to the limit and beyond without much consequence. Helped me learn the bikes behavior when of approaching (and going over) the limit of grip.
I Wish you made all of the bike videos i love to see because i absolutely love your video style the HQ of the image and your clear voice and how you built up your videos structural wise. love to see more :)
There’s a bit of gap between the front fork and the “head” where they mount the front lights which made it look a bit weird when you look at it from side view. Other than that it looks good and I’m sure performance wise people are going to like it.
MOTOBOB thanks a lot !!! I will enjoy at the end of this month the new first one : Thruxton TFC and will receive the second one Street Triple Rs middle of december :-) my two dreams bike in reality 🤪🤪🔥🔥❌😝🔞🔞
Do remember if the stripes on the tank under the gloss? Haven't seen any accurate photos of the black one. Would take it if it is stickers only. Great review as always
Great review. Nice to get one from somebody who like me isn't a two wheel God! Like those headlights and the standard exhaust is very tidy. Bluetooth GoPro connection is an awesome addition.
Look at you with all your new kit on, you’ll be getting ya knee down next, mate 😎 Is it me, or do those lights remind anyone else of ‘Jonny 5 alive!’, from the movie Short Circuit? Nice review, as always, Bob. Andy 🏴
I think Triumph are definitely leading the pack in regards to listening to what the riders are saying whilst also not sacrificing their own creativity. I now love the new headlights, I think people are way more likely to notice a scarier set of lights peering through the darkness at them. Other than putting a tail tidy, open exhaust (something like a Racefit) and maybe deleting the pegs, I wouldn't change much about this bike. Indicators don't look as shite as most manufacturers' indicators, bar end mirrors are perfect and it generally looks mean as fuuuuuuuuuuck. And, best thing about it, Triumph didn't follow most other companies and didn't raise the price whilst vastly improving the bike. If only I had an A licence, I would definitely be considering one of these. But an MT125 will do for now
Agree on all counts mate. I spoke to the guys at triumph on the trip and they do run focus groups etc. But also they built the new Rocket 3 which is pretty wild and not really the product of market research. So I agree totally - they’re doing both really well
Congrats on your first track ride! Curious if the new RS has the track map...it was removed from the original RS after software updates. Really like your videos, man. Thanks!
Paulo Cabral hard to say without riding one directly after the other. It feels strong through the mid range but then again, the old bike did too. Probably not worth the upgrade for that alone, but maybe test ride one when they come out and see what you think!
i wouldnt touch 1 with a barge pole before just because of its looks. Headlights look so much better now (good job) but still sticks out the front way to far, back to the drawing board triumph
Why won't triumph mount the dash and headlight to the triple clamp like everyone else? It looks so stupid mounted to that extended frame, sticking out two feet in front of the bike. It pisses me off to no end because I want this bike more than anything but I just can't get past that weird look.
@@grenphelps7455 I'm not doubting that there's a reason for it, I just think it looks awful, especially from the side. Side mounted intakes would definitely not hurt this bike, aesthetically
Yeah it just has a cover on it which comes with the bike. They actually lifted the seat a little which means the passenger should have more leg space than the last model
Nice review, I do like the bike and am pleased with upgrades, not sure why so many complain about no imu, a good châssis and suspension has always been good enough, now everyone wants rider aids, if you are a good rider not many bikes offer electronics that don't intrude, imu or not, so I for one am happy with the choice, if u want top electronics then you have to get something like the new s1000rr from BMW. Al Fagan from 44teeth will give a good perspective on the track part for the triumph
Agreed. He’s a hell of a good rider, as were a lot of the other lads on the trip. That’s why I didn’t want to comment too much on that angle as they’re best placed. But I’d agree that an IMU isn’t necessary on this bike. Just learn to ride it eh!
Another great vid Bob👍🏻 It’s good to see the “average” rider now being given the chance to go to the launching of new bikes etc.. Really like the way you are putting together your vids now 😁 Oh ... the bike ain’t too bad ether!!
Change the fuel ratio by Vuj- Go Tuning and it will kill Duke 890r under 4000rpm too!! 💪💪🤘🥳 Over 6000rpm and 8000...AND 10.000 RPM it kills the Duke 890r much more then before!
Great video but honestly-are we really to take advice on a bike to buy from someone who’s never been on a track before? Edit: Got to the 8 minute mark and I get your perspective-like many will request that haven’t ridden track for years but are shopping the bike. Cheers!
This was asked at the technical presentation the night before the ride and the answer was “we’re here to launch the RS” so take that whatever way you will. EICMA isn’t far off tho so I’d expect to see more from triumph there if not before the end of the year.
@@motobob thank you, im guessing that its probably going to be the visual updates for all, and the old R/RS dash for the S and the new dash also for the R
@@furiosarana1857 I looked on the Triumph Configurator a couple of days ago and it showed the 'new' RS and the 2019 shape S & R starting at £8100 yet today you can only configure the RS but they are still listing the S & R however when you click the link it brings up the RS only. The Street Triple section on the Triumph website is all over the place ! @@motobob Definitely lots of torque on a Speed Twin, sometimes it feels like I'm on a medieval rack having my arms ripped out ! In a lot of ways the Speed Twin is an ideal bike for riders that are often in the wrong gear. It always pulls.
There's not a lot of difference in the spec from last years RS..same shock, same brembo m50's apart from the new styling and a up and down quick shifter (which I have on my GS 😎) there's not really much of a difference...I also think triumph need to give its customer's some nicer colours, I mean boring flat black and a older colour from the first RS albeit in a gloss finish, it's all a bit hum drum
Agreed re the colours. Whatever happened to Roulette Green, Neon Blue & Lucifer Orange ? Triumph always did some fantastic paintwork on the Street & Speed Triple models but sadly not anymore. The alternative colour on the 2020 RS is matt black with lime green stickers just like they've done on the 1050 Speedy. Not good !
@@VMKAROUND365 What I am saying is that a person that do not know how a bike feels at fast and slow speeds dont know how the bike handles. A bike is very sensitive to settings, like preload, rebound and what kind of tires it has. How can a rider that never experienced these kind of stuff have a clear verdict on how the bike handles/behaves. It isnt as noticeable as the older lights but still gives it a buggy look.
Those headlights are horrible..looks so disproportionate..
