    I own a 2014 Street Triple 675R, I just love it. Its light (compered to many) Sounds great when opened up. I had the bikes suspension set up by a pro, (For my weight) run the back ...Pirelli Diablo Corsa... tyre at a slightly lower pressure. The bike handles beautifully on twisty roads.... Fortunately, here in Spain the roads are better maintained, rough and potholes surfaces are not a problem. I believe the striple series of Triumph are just great.....Interesting to see how these bikes have progressed in the last few years though..I'm 73 so I suspect my hooligan days are numbered but to finish my biking, from 1963 to present riding the triumph is a real pleasure..

    Ah, The eternal question.
    I think the Speed doesn't egg you on as much as the Street to go nuts. When I get off my Street after a ride I always feel like it's disappointed in me because we could have gone faster. I don't think the Speed is as judgemental. 😆
    But no-one will ever have the answer to this question.
    Great video.👍

      @mirlin235 I had an R model 2010 but changed it for a Daytona, Great bike but very uncomfortable. Then some silly old bloke knocked me off it and wrote it off. He nearly wrote me off as well. Two Broken vertebrae in my neck and a broken ankle. I've recovered ok though. Got a Z1000sx now, lovely bike.

    • @tigerick7291
      @tigerick7291 3 роки тому

      @mirlin235 Sorry, I meant the Daytona was very uncomfortable. The Street Triple as you have said is very comfortable. Probably the most enjoyable bike I've ever owned, and I've had a lot. Indeed I am considering a new version RS but the new Ducati Monster is also interesting me. But deep down I am a Triumph fan.

    • @tigerick7291
      @tigerick7291 3 роки тому

      @mirlin235 yes I think you're right about the Ducati but that engine is a belter, I've ridden a supersport and multistrada with it in and thought it was great. I haven't tried the 765 engine,though I'm sure it's great.
      I'm really thinking I want a naked bike again, the SX is excellent but it's so good and faultless it's quite boring/soul less if you know what I mean. Where do you live? Just wondering.

    • @tigerick7291
      @tigerick7291 3 роки тому

      @mirlin235 well I'm not close at all. I live in West Yorkshire, England but I imagine the climate is similar. Ducati maintenance is expensive here too. Triumph have got more expensive here recently due to their popularity and premium image but not as expensive as the Italian exotica. It's a small world isn't it.😀

      So.... @TheMissendenFlyer @Lambchoprides - I am on the look out for moving up from (my 2nd...) Street Triple RS 765 (the first one) to a Speed Triple RS. The Speed, is the engine more of a 'lump' bit capacity, or does it like to rev out? Not thinking it's as revy as the Street Mind. But a sense of urgency - The last big capacity bike I owned a K1200s BMW was just 'an engine' - fast, but uninvolving

      My partner has a Street R which she loves, my son has the Street RS but is disappointed in it, possibly due to the fact that the addictive induction raw keeps getting him into trouble 🤦‍♂️. I rode the Speed RS a couple of years ago and it blew me away, absolutely loved it. I tested a lot of bikes that year and without hesitation I wanted one....so what did I do? 🤔 I bought a Tiger 1200 XRT as we were looking for a bike for the two of us for a European tour. The bike was amazing but my lady said that she would rather be riding her own bike now so maybe a Speed is back on the table for this year 🤞

Key reasons, cruise control (great for longer rides), imu, far better display and the higher spec ohlins. You get use to keyless start too. Throw a low boy on her and you lose 7 kilos of upsprung weight too while the ohlins make it easy to adjust!! Roll on the 1160 :)

    Then I realised I had my bike in the front room sight next to me haha...

    I just bought a 2020 Speed 1050RS after owning a 2015 Street 675R for a few years. I thought the 675R was nimble and easy to throw around... until I rode the 1050RS.
    On paper it is 17kg heavier, on the road however it is completely different. It holds the corners better, absorbs the bumps better, smoother acceleration obviously without having to be at WOT to get it to move.
    It's honestly the bike I should have bought when I got the 675R, but I am glad I have finally gotten myself onto one now.
    It is an absolute dream to ride, and the de-baffled SC Projects muffler with mid pipe just sounds incredible (ear plugs needed for longer trips though!).
    Keen to get it tuned, as these engines respond very nicely to some extra timing!

    Over many years of Triumph ownership I had several Speeds & Streets as loaners while my Tiger was being serviced. When I wanted a 2nd bike I got a Street without hesitation = lighter, nimbler, more engaging, and more fun. Speed might have advantages but only in rare circumstances. Street is the real world winner.

    Did you give the speed the beans and what was the verdict? The traction control on it is quite agressive in twisty road mode it doesn't let the front up.

    You mentioned deals to be had on the speed RS at Triumph dealers now. I was looking around at one one of these as my next bike. I spoke to my local dealers who offered me their ex demo with 500 miles on it for £10,500 😳😳 I hadn't tested the Tuono or Ducati Monster 1200s yet so I turned it down. Put my money on a new 1200s Monster in the end. Waiting for the Sept 1st new reg to pick it up. Keep up the good work, enjoy your videos mr LCR 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Got speed and had street for a courtesy bike just yesterday and riding back to back. Street sounds better and is lighter but the speed like a grown up bike. Street suspension softer and I like that. My speed suspension too stiff for my 13st but good 2 up. Definitely speed for me all told and no regrets

    I've owned the street triple rs and it was one of the best bikes I've owned.
    I found it to be involving, fast, good handling and comfortable.
    The only criticism I made was it was way to firm for the UK roads (even with the shock adjusted)
    I now own the speed triple rs.
    I find the ride quality to be far better, it just feels so much more complete package.
    I love the attention to detail, the carbon parts, the arrow cans and the ohlins set up is utterly brilliant.
    August 2020 prices :
    Speed triple rs £13600
    Free quickshifter (£300 option)
    £1000 deposit contribution
    £500 clothing voucher
    1 years rac cover
    1 years road tax
    So in comparison to the £10500 Street, it's not so much of a big step financially for the top of the range.
    Either bike is truly amazing whichever you decide!

    Great review.
    I just bought the 2022 Street RS, and I love it.
    I didn't consider the Speed because I'll always go for light weight over power when it comes to "sporty" bikes.
    Glad to see some one else shares my hate for the dash on the Street, it's the only thing I don't like about the bike.
    I have actually written to Triumph, asking someone to find the graphic designer responsible, then give them a big slap.

    Love my 2018 Speed RS ... went to Assen BSB on it last year ... cruise control, heated grips and auto blipper are fantastic and a triple engine litre bike makes cruising and lazy riding a breeze !!! Took the underseat exhausts off and fitted single low sided which I think improves the looks .... great review as ever 👍🏻

      Oddjob6120 hi mate ... yeah I took off pillion footpegs and dual exhausts as didn’t want the aggro drilling out baffles etc ... I fitted an SP Engineering carbon which, sounds great and so far has kept its looks .... looked at the Austin & Sc Project which both also looked good but both louder than mine .... Totally agree about colours ! I thought the 2018 debate of gloss white v matt black/red (which I have) was fierce but that flouro 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

    Destination Triumph, Washington pointed me over here. Having been on both, defo felt like the speed was a more “mature” choice, the street felt harder to relax on and a lot more “racey”. The speed felt like it was being what it I wanted it to be. Excellent review btw!

    I had the 765 RS and recently upgraded to the speedy and a couple of items not mentioned so far is that the speedy certainly runs hotter and the fueling is not as good at low RPMs. I could also ride the 765 on instinct and the speedy requires more attention. a much more serious ride. That said, I love the extra torque on the speedy (especially with a passenger) and am happy with the switch.

    I have an RS street triple and the weight at rest, specifically at a traffic light, I love it. I turn up at a light and look around, no plans, and leave, as much as I was on a mountain bike. I had a tiger 1200 when I felt I needed a 15 point check approaching a set of lights to make sure I didn’t drop it or kill anyone, my street triple (relatively) feels like I can point it anywhere and still recover any misdemeanour

My BMW S1kRR was nice and i almost bought it after the 3 yrs were up but I always worry when parking when the police are around or if i stacked it. None of which i have with my trusty STR.

    Thanks guys a great review. As a first litre bike coming up from a smaller bike, the Speed is a great option. Easy to ride, smooth, enough naughty but also a gentleman. I have enjoyed owning the 2016 Speed R and highly recommend it. I think I'm now ready to move to something like a KTM SDR next, 2020 model. In comparison I found the Street Triple like an excitable teenager, energy, agile and it made me want to throw it around a lot but I got over wanting to ring its neck and ultimately I was happy to get back to the lovely planted feel of the Speed. Both great bikes for different reasons.

    Curious about the ongoing comments about suspension and stiffness? Given they both have adjustments - is this an observation that could be adjusted on the Speed (dialing back compression and rebound) or is it just the difference in Spec of the Ohlins on the Speed vs. Street?
    I'll be upgrading bikes in the near future, and am interested to know is this a Spec difference, or just set up difference?
    Great video, very much appreciate the side by side comparison as its not widely done. Thanks!

    Happy with my recent purchase of a Brand New Speed Triple 1050 RS for £11.5k which included autobliper and heated grips. Turn off the traction control and it will wheelie on demand. Only downside is useless rear hugger which doesn't stop road grime covering the rear seat when out on a wet ride.

    Many pro bike testers actually prefer the Street R to the stiffer and peakier Street RS. The suspension is better suited to the roads and it has a bit more low and mid range grunt. The 2020 version is even cheaper than last years and has a proper analogue rev counter [hooray]. Would be interesting to get your thoughts on a direct comparison between the 2 [or 3] Street Triples. Great vid Chops [as always], take care mate and ride safe.

    Great vid but if I may make a suggestion - you both refer to the bikes as "this" & "that" and it's hard to determine what bike you are referring to. If you use thier names it sould be easier to keep track of that bike you are commenting on.
    Still a great comparison 👍

    I own the street triple rs 2020 and i can see the dash and find it at least usable. Id definitely prefer the dash from the 2018. Theres an option so you can have the tachometer at the top of the screen to see in clear numbers what revs you are doing

    I'm considering getting a 1050RS, but I'm wondering if a Street is enough for me. My Guzzi Griso is a great bike but on group rides the 1540mm wheelbase makes it a bit of a maul. So I plan to keep that as a cruiser and get a more sporty second which still has some luggage capacity. This video has really helped me, I think I need the larger midrange of the Speed. The Street has less torque than the Guzzi.

    I had the 2018 Street triple R (with added quickshifter) but after watching and reading a lot of reviews on the 2020 RS I decided that I might buy it if my test ride was favourable, so after an afternoon spent riding around the north west of N.Ireland (were the N.W. 200 is run annually) and down to Enniskillen, I found that Triumph had genuinely beefed up the RSs mid-range and improved the ride quality to where it no longer felt like a stripped down supersport bike, I was on the verge of trading in my R when the dealer asked if I'd like to ride the 2020 R , I hadn't seen any tests on the new R and the only thing I knew was the new bike had the Bi-Directional quickshifter as standard but thought I'll give it a try, Phew! I'm so glad I did , Triumph have made just as many improvements to the R as they've made to the RS, apart from the quickshifter they've changed 1st and 2nd gear so that acceleration is improved, the body work changes replicate those of the RS, IMO the R is still the better every day bike right down to its Pirelli diablo corsa II tyres, which suit all conditions. you'll have no doubt guessed I didn't after all go for the RS, I opted for the R and I'm very pleased with my choice ,the only negative being the lack of TFT screen which has been replaced by the old 675 street triple dash, though the bi directional quickshifter more than compensates for this.

    • @Zweefduiker
      @Zweefduiker 2 роки тому

      Went for Street triple R myself. New rider….
      I would not see the lack of the TFT as downside. As it is not nearly as crisp as a BMW for example. And it shows too much information and is not as intuitive. I got the R and really love the LCD/analog dash combo. Get the info I need in an instant.
      And get real, most of the RS specs over the R are more suited to seasoned race track riders. And I am to old for that. But not too old to get a total blast riding the R. The R offers plenty. Also, the tires on the R are more all weather suited.
      Power on the RS is not the issue. I did like the RS on the test ride and it was still me riding the bike. The R does not feel lacking in any way. It is just the price difference of the RS vs the R and perceived value for money.
      For a few bucks the R can be turned into an RS lookalike. Belly pan, bar end mirrors and upgraded brake reservoirs.
      And with some ecu tuning the engine power could be made to match the RS… so I do not see any reason to buy the RS….. unless you are an experienced rider who can put the upgraded suspension and brakes to good use…..
      Now after putting 1000 kms on I know this is just the bike for me. Light, easy to ride, great sound and nice to look at. And plenty of potential to discover.
