Thrift stores are mostly dumping grounds for junk. The fantasy of a hot find is mostly gone.

I hate thrift store resellers. They really are the worst thing to happen to the industry. I think another reason prices have increased so much is that people will look at eBay prices and just assume that it is worth the highest sell price when it’s not. I work in an antique store and when people price things based on eBay they usually don’t sell. I just don’t think eBay prices are accurate to every market.

That’s A Great Point I Didn’t Even Consider Inflated Prices On The Online Secondary Market

Yes, eBay sold-listing prices reflect the maximum that people are willing to pay nationwide or even internationally for an item they specifically sought out online, in competition with anyone else who finds the listing. When you ask that same price in a store, there's very little chance that someone within the catch radius of the store will pay it. Chances are, prospective buyers are not seeking out that specific item, or they would've just gone to eBay. If you want eBay prices for your stuff you have to sell on eBay and deal with shipping etc.

@@CortezEspartaco2 I love “if you want eBay prices then sell it on eBay ” that’s so real so many resellers and dealers don’t realize this. At the store I work at there’s tons of old price guides for all kinds of different things. Of course they would be out of date and off on price now but these are never opened or even looked at anymore. Instead there’s an iPad to look up the prices of items. At antique stores and thrift stores customers want to feel like they’re getting a deal. If they don’t feel this way, it is unlikely that they will return to the store. When things are priced based off of eBay, customers definitely don’t feel like they’re getting deals, because they aren’t.

Yeah nope. Thrift store companies do not have to raise their prices for any reason. No one's forcing them. Cute how you and whomever wrote the script for the guy in the video are blaming the consumers and resellers.
Nice try, but the company is in power over the prices and they choose. This was their doing.

Broken robot, yes your show should find anyone to blame but the people actually at fault. The companies who set the prices. Well done.

Dont even get me started. When it got to the point there was a mad daah into the stores at opening i pretty much gave up. I was thinking about the death of the thrill of the hunt the moment you mentioned it in the video.

Resellers didn’t ruin Thrifting, corporate greed did.
