I think Jesse is about the sweetest husband around. Always smiling, supportive and a great sense of humor. I love watching you two interact. Always kind and respectful. Never any attitude. I’m 70 yrs old and have been married over 40 yrs. In this day and age you guys are unicorns. I commend you.
Love it. I like when Jesse is with you - you have a comfortable, loving, humorous way of interacting with each other that gives me such feel-good vibes. Its infectious.
The bottle with the ballerina in it and the alcohol I ended up buying Funny thing is is it was on my bucket list. My great grandmother had one as I was a child. And she used to let me wind it and watch the girl dance. I nearly cried when I found it. Then was shocked when I was telling my best friend what I had gotten on the phone and she had seen your video. I was so surprised to watch it and see the bottle I had purchased.
The wooden windmill mold is for speculaas, a traditional Dutch cookie. PS. Jesse is the perfect comic relief in your videos. He's great at coming up with funny retorts.
I think the wooden bowl with the swirl is a yarn bowl. You thread the yarn through the swirl and put the yarn in the bowl so the ball doesn’t roll away. When you’re finished you can stick your knitting needles through the holes until you pick your project up again.
The bottom rim on the Japanese bowls were very clean and white... usually with age they darken with stains...they get marked from being moved back and forth on shelves/tables and cupboards. My guess would be these are newer.
Haha i agree! Normally I get laura’s aesthetic and can guess whether it’s in the trolley or pass and for sure I thought she would say they were hideously kitsch!
Wow, Jesse sure has come a long way. I remember when he was really shy to be on camera. Lol. You two are really fun to watch and I am really enjoying this series. Great idea Jesse now all you need is a jingle. 😊
The gold tone tray with lid could be a thing of the past…possibly a file tray for your desk. - lid for holding down papers and privacy. I’ve seen similar in my past years working.
Laura, the older you get the more you learn about yourself! I'm 55 and I love getting older, except the wrinkles, because I love the things I'm learning about me, and the older I get, the less I care about the little things. Btw, you changed my life Laura, I'm serious! And one day I can't wait to tell you, in person, how. Ty with all of my heart! Just know, that you do amazing things, and I'm sure I'm not the only ones that thinks so. Ty! Ty! Ty! 😘
I agree with this so much! Getting older is much different than I expected. I’m thoroughly enjoying it! Except the wrinkles 😂 I look forward to meeting you in person someday and hearing your story ❤️ -L
The brass piece with the flat lid you passed on is an office desk organizer for holding letters and communications. The lid is made to sit flat on the letters to shield and cover the contents.
I am new here BUT, I think Jesse is a hoot. He can show up anytime he wants cuz you two just make me smile. I’m working backwards through this Goodwilll tour. I LOVE this idea.
Arita Yaki (Arita Pottery) is from Saga Prefecture on Kyushu Island in Japan. They are famous for their pottery. I used to live near there. The 120th Arita Pottery Fair was just held from April 29th (Mon) - May 5th (Sun), 2024. It happens annually 🏺
I love Jesse too. OK, chiming in on the brass colored ‘in box’ you found that has the lid. So, yes, that is exactly how they were … you had an inbox on your desk and for confidentiality reasons, you, or your assistant, would put papers in it then you’d put that lid on top to keep people who happen to swing by your desk from seeing what was in there. It also weighted the papers down and just looked more neat. These were typically found on the desks of senior executives. I’ve never seen one like that, though. Usually, they were leather covered and I always loved how they made a desk look.
Thank you Laura and Jesse. Your knowledge and talent along with your adorable relationship and sense of humors make your channel one of the best! Thoroughly enjoy watching your videos .. I’m entertained and I always learn something. Thank you again for your professionalism, dedication to quality and hard work. 🥰❤️
"ballerina in a bottle": you got it correct, it's from the brand "Bols" - an Amsterdam brand with a long tradition for liqueurs. if that special one was not opened before, it is a very rare and expensive dealed one. Look it up :-)
I must say I saw you last night and watched most of a show, but I put it on hold because I wanted to see you tonight instead of all the work I had to do which probably would’ve taken four or five hours. I was mesmerized by your two shows going to Europe, 2024 and it’s entirety and now I am on the What you find or what you have found after the whole and in your shopping now you’re trying to hit all the local Goodwill in that area I guess in Oregon needless to say my point this is I would be so blessed if I could join you on your magical trip to Europe or one of the other places you were mentioning it’s amazing I would absolutelybe falling by this hope to hear from you.
❤ Everything about your Calla Lily clock find! That you and Jesse both love it; and that you now know your favorite flower, and I think how happy the designer-maker of the clock would be, to know how delighted you are, to make this clock a part of your happy home! That is a best-in-vintage moment ....one of many xox
Another great episode today Laura with your wonderful sidekick Jesse. You two need to be in a TV show together called The Thrifing Roadshow. Staring Laura & Jesse. Doing exactly what you two do best.
We have lots of Calla Lilies growing in our gardens (we live an hour north of Atlanta). My favorite flower is the Peony. I love this series, it's so much fun.😊❤
Love the bird art in the gold frames and the big pottery piece for Little Italy! Those huge 3 candle holders are so RETRO!!!! Beautiful blue and white ceramic Japanese bowls- new or old- very pretty!
I watched a show about old Japanese pottery. If you noticed the pictures of the old ones had a pattern painted on the base. Apparently old pottery had patterns painted on the bottom and not just a stripe going all the way around.
I love seeing Jesse in your videos!! He and I have the same view on PRACTICAL things being necessary purchases, but I love the eclectic items you find. You guys are awesome!
I loved all the pottery finds!!! Y’all did a good job of finding such great items!! Like seeing you and Jesse shop together!!! I believe that was Nessy!!!🤗
That glass round 'vase' with the tiny hole in the top is actually an oil lamp. I have one too. I love mine - I keep it amongst my glass ice balls like you were/ are collecting - I caught that glass ice ball fever too I think I have 6 now - actually found one today etched with Kosta boda. Loving this series! Blessings!
You two make a great team. It is always a joy when we can shop along with you guys😀. I wonder if those were the 3 wise men on top of the camel? It was very cute. I am loving this series of shopping all of the Goodwill stores in your area.
I just watched Jocelyn's channel and I notice that the general style of things, the design, the look of them, on your side of the country is totally different. More bold, colorful and swirly. In her area it's more modest/old/antique-y.
I want the Japanese bowl that you passed on at 23:56, with kind of a brushed brown clay in the center and green around the circumference! I wish you'd gotten it.
I think the pair of blue and white asian bowls could be newish (maybe vintage but not antique) because the glaze seems a little shinier than I think it should be. Either that or they haven't seen much use over the years. I absolutely love the wooden lily clock, but my fave piece is the wild horse vase thingy. A close equal second is the pair of small bird paintings. Really great finds today 👍.
The bubble vase is actually an oil lamp missing a wick usually polish glass.I really love it as a vase though ❤I'll have to try that with the one I have😊🎉
Yes, great idea. I have a beautiful blue glass oil light, I am going to do the same. Put some greenery or roses in it because I don't put oil in it, lol.
I would have bought that wood clock with the Calla Lilies too. I lost my best friend Calla five years ago. Every time I see a Calla Lily I think of her. This spring in Walmart there was a potted Calla Lily sitting on a shelf in the deli department. Weird right! It was in my favorite color purple. I felt it was a sign and it came home with me!
Bols bottle of liquor you found, i think you should have gotten it. I don't know what they wanted for it. I bought and sold quite a few throughout the years. People collect them. Bols do not go to that extent any more, if you look at their bottles today, they are absolutely boring 😅the ballerina one has a music mechanism and turns around, i sold an empty one for 55dollars, it was thifted for 3. Since then, i always pick and sell interesting vintage liquor bottles. It would be fun to open and try that one😅! considering the amount of sugars in Bols liquors, that one would probably still be ok😂😂😂
Such a FUN idea! I love this series a lot and look forward to the next episode. You two are a wonderful team. You clearly have such a great friendship in your marriage. Keep crashing, Jesse!
Love this goodwill series. Great idea Jesse! I've been following you for a few years now and these videos are reminiscent of the goodwill videos that got me hooked. 🥰
It's hard to find anything good at our Goodwill stores. They've gotten so expensive. I love that carved clock. The frames alone on those paintings are worth the price (unless they're plastic). I'm an artist. I would have bought them. :) I think that horse says "Luna".
I think that camels with the three "kids" are the three wise kings and that is a Christmas decoration. Did you notice the figures had crowns?
I agree! It's the Three Wise Men.
Thank you...I was going to comment on the same thing but you beat me to it ; )
I thought exactly the same in English it's three wise man but in French we are calling them "Les Trois Rois Mages" , the 👑 crowns says it all !
That was my thought too. 😊
🤴🤴🤴 💯 🤦🏻♀️

Can I just say…your hubby is a hunk and so sweet with a great sense of humor.
He sure is! 😁
I will add …: he gets better over time, like the good wine!
Chill lol
The bottle with the ballerina in it and the alcohol I ended up buying Funny thing is is it was on my bucket list. My great grandmother had one as I was a child. I googled it, priced at over $300!!!
I would have bought that in a heartbeat. Beautiful collector's item❤
I’m in Australia I have one of these I picked up many years ago in a thrift shop. The doll is red in the one I have.
That bottle could of been flipped for over $100
I Love this story! Hope laura reads this, thanks for taking time to post!
You are so.blessed that you have a sweet, calm husband who enjoys thrifting with you🙂
He is so calm! Mine used to cruise up-and-down the aisles by himself ... And then go sit on a couch in the back of the store and wait for me
You two are like peas and carrots. You compliment each other perfectly.
The wooden windmill mold is for speculaas, a traditional Dutch cookie. PS. Jesse is the perfect comic relief in your videos. He's great at coming up with funny retorts.
I agree I had dutch room mate made cookies with similar look 😉
My mom has hers hanging in the kitchen next to some British brass saddle medallions, all souvenirs from past trips.
Came to say the same thing...mold for speculaas cookies...🥰
I think the wooden bowl with the swirl is a yarn bowl. You thread the yarn through the swirl and put the yarn in the bowl so the ball doesn’t roll away. When you’re finished you can stick your knitting needles through the holes until you pick your project up again.
Jesse joining in videos are my favorite videos!! Your dynamic out and about is just delightful to watch!
Agree 💯!👍
It was a desk in box. Put your papers in it and weigh them down and have privacy with the lid. Very Mad Men.
I came here to comment the same thing. ❤ So gorgeous.
The thing that is clear that you styled as a vase is actually an oil lamp controlled bubble from Portugal. You got it in the Damascus GW.
I wish my husband would be supportive when I go to thrift stores
I don't know why he wouldn't be, are you thrifting to flip or like me taking stuff home unwilling to part with it?!😂😂😂😂😂😂
My hubby loves it more than I do
The bottom rim on the Japanese bowls were very clean and white... usually with age they darken with stains...they get marked from being moved back and forth on shelves/tables and cupboards. My guess would be these are newer.
Jesse is a huge help thrifting. Quite the fun enabler!
Laura, it’s so fun watching you and Jesse shop together. I think you compliment each other! I love the clock, what a great find!
Is it just me, or do the hands look to long?
I think the " Kids" riding the camel are the 3 wise men. I love Gustav Klimt. I have a print of The Kiss❤
The Kiss is one of my favorites!
I have a poster of The Kiss! Love Klimt!
the 'tape dispenser' was a kitchen item, you put your sponge across it resting each end in the cut out
Oh! I need one of those...
Ohhh I thought it was a cutlery holder. I have a Princess House crystal one that looks same shape
I thought it was for holding water and the slots for laying your brush across, for watercolor painting.
Yeah just so you know, I WILL watch a 10 hour video of you going to all the goodwills in one day
I’m here for it too!!!
The Goodwill's where I live, in rural northwestern Pennsylvania, are nothing like you are able to visit. You are blessed for sure.
I live in Florida in the Tampa Bay Area and our Goodwills are nowhere near as good as yours out there. Heavy sigh……
I think the cactus candleholders are HIDEOUS! Everything else is very cute.
Haha i agree! Normally I get laura’s aesthetic and can guess whether it’s in the trolley or pass and for sure I thought she would say they were hideously kitsch!

That glass orb shaped piece w the bubbles is an oil lamp from the early 80's. I have one just like it, they're beautiful when lit
The gold tone tray with lid could be a thing of the past…possibly a file tray for your desk. - lid for holding down papers and privacy. I’ve seen similar in my past years working.
Yes an in/out file box with a privacy/paper weight my mom use to have one on her desk when she worked as a court clerk mid 60's
Yes, me the same. The lids I've seen were for exactly as you state.
I also thought it might be for hard place mats and the lid id to keep the sun off of them. Maybe?
Laura Caldwell
Great video!
The pottery at 4:16 is to put your kitchen sponge across the slots and set your bottle of soap toward the back

LOVE that you mentioned checking for lead. So appreciate you bringing light to that very important part of thrifting!
How can one check for lead
@@honeybdream there are lead strip tests but not really sensitive enough. Almost all vintage ceramic has lead though soo I no longer thrift it.
@@vanessap386 Oh wow, thanks I did not know about that. I will keep that in mind!

The grey pottery horse with what looked like scales on one side is giving me Kelpie vibes.
Always LOVE seeing Jesse in the videos! Jesse, you add a cool edge to the shopping spree. We like your style! You're a perfect match with Laura! 💖
That big insulator is pretty valuable
That is the biggest insulator I’ve ever seen.
I thrifted a glass bubble with a cotton wick... the well is for fuel...a candle!
Yes, I believe it's Kosta Boda
Oh my goodness! Jesse calling for assistance- lol!! Love love love watching you guys ❤
I would have loved to see him call the number! LoL
I think the MCM covered paper tray may be complete-the top is to hold the papers down to keep them from blowing away.
LOVE the Calla Lily clock!!!

Don't they smell euphoric!
@Paulsofsteel They absolutely do! We have 7 Peony shrubs in our gardens and I wish I had more.🥰
Please oh please guide me how to grow peonies in AL? I have 4, no blooms.
They are my favorite 🌸
@@CopingwithGrattitude How old are the bushes? They don't bloom for the first 2-3 years. They need morning sun and afternoon shade. Good luck.
You 2 are hysterical that final banter 😂 so true! It’s funny cause it’s true! Enjoy that amazing clock
Love Cala Lillie’s!
Love the bird art in the gold frames and the big pottery piece for Little Italy! Those huge 3 candle holders are so RETRO!!!! Beautiful blue and white ceramic Japanese bowls- new or old- very pretty!
I love having Jesse come along on the trips. He provides a different perspective. Love your videos!
The tray was a holder for paperwork and the lid was the weight you put on top of the papers to hold them down in place.
That’s exactly what it was, on an executives desk so that what they were working on was covered 😁from a secretary in the 70’s
Oh wow! That makes sense now why the lid was so heave 😆
I was thinking the same...kind of like the napkin holders with the weighted tops. It looked perfect for 8.5 x 11" sheets of paper.
Love the light filling your home with the white. Makes it look bigger brighter and beautiful. You have done awesome and saved thousands😊👍well done🎊
I enjoy your videos so much, Laura. And, I love it when your hubby is with you.

This series was such a great idea Laura and Jesse. So much ch fun!
I lived in Sandy Oregon for a year that Goodwill is phenomenal. I found some awesome things there.
I live in Bellingham and I have been loving the rain. Anything that puts off the new normal wildfires
"dare I say we have enough?" Jesse had me laughing as usual with his comments.

Love to watch you two! So sweet to each other.
That large black & white vase at 18:30 is fabulous!
I think the glass “vase” with the bubbles might actually be an oil lamp, you just fill with oil and add a wick.
I don't know exactly what grade I was in, but we had to make ceramic dinosaurs in art class in elementary school. I vote brontosaurus! 😆
BEST SHOW YET!!!
Talking in the car about your mall experience, for moment you looked like an adorable 20ish girl...nice to see.
