Finally a good video. Only took like 10 tries before this. Thank you!!!! Had all the info I needed. Specifically the distance from blade to cartridge. Thanks again.
Had my saw stop fire off by me being dumb. Cutting thick narrow stock and the blade was just breaking thru the top with the blade all the way up. Well the blade next to the table was back about 3 or 4 inches from the tip of the blade which I could see and the tip of my thumb just got nicked and it fired off. Scared the snot out of me as it sounds like a shotgun when it energizes. Thought I had an inch or more before I would use a push stick.Never even left a mark on my thumb. Best investment ever for this old man. Thank you for all your videos
I just meant with the regular blade I use I have to tighten it all the way. The dado stack I use is 8" and that's one of the reasons you have to use the different cartridge.
If you wanted to, could you just leave the regular blade cartridge on the saw, install a dado stack and then put put the saw on bypass? I know you wouldn't have the protection but it would save a lot of time.
Exactly the predicament I am up against right now. Unfortunately, as a sawstop owner it appears your total investment for a dado stack setup will be minimum $280 before taxes. I just bought a $100 Freud dado stack thinking I can finally start making proper dado cuts. Now I'm finding out I also need to buy a Sawstop dado throat plate ($60 in 2024) and a dado brake cartridge ($120 in 2024). I'm attempting to make my own throat plate but I can't make a dado brake cartridge

Wow! Glad you're ok! I use this one at home and a 5hp at work. I'm sure I'll eventually set one of them off lol. Thanks for watching!
Very helpful, thanks!
Thanks! I'm about to hook up my dado blade for the first time and this helps a lot!
Thanks for the info on this. I just bought my saw and this verified the process
Nice demo! Thank you!
Thank you. I'm getting a new Sawstop next month. Now, back to waiting...
Haha it will be worth it!
Its worth the wait.
Can you use a regular 8" blade with the dado cartridge?
Nicely done 👍,,,,
Thanks!
Thank you awesome!,, helpful
What brand is your blade? Thanks for the info
Amana.
Hey Brandon. You said you had to tighten the adjustment all the way for your blade. How does that allow for a 6" or 8" dado stack?
Bill

You can't because the dado stack is a 8" and the cartridge is to far away. Trust me I tried haha.
It won't allow you to put it on bypass unless the cartridge is close enough to the blade.
@@WalkersWoodworks man that's a bummer. That's a borderline deal breaker for me.
Your time is never a trade off for your safety.

I can’t get the red pin to go back in
Nvm I’m dumb, I needed to raise the blade 🤦♂️ literally spent half an hour trying to figure that out
Ah dang lol. Sorry I didn't see this sooner.
