- What sets MotoGP champions apart from other riders?
I list 7 things MotoGP champions have in common. Including introducing new riding styles, having a will of steel, riding dirt bikes and having a golden ass.

"Champions show up to be fast during the race and not during the practice"
Vinales: 👀
Hahahahahhaah
Quartararo: I'm in danger
Yeah hahahaha
sunday racer 😁😁 not a saturday racer,.
Raul Fernandez too
Number 8: they’re all extremely cool
number 9 : they're not human
number 10 : their moms arent gay
number 11 : bikes go brrrt
What a timely video. Poor Nakagami.
Nakagami's crash was heartbreaking T.T
The pressure is real. Hope he would get that no. 1 podium!
Im always cheering for him. I think he will do really well in 2021
Will of Steel - This is why Rossi can't stop. He's a champion. He rather dies trying than quitting. It's a kind of madness we mere can't comprehend.
Dani Pedrosa had all of this, but he was extremely unlucky :(
That's why I find it annoying when virtue signaling dweebs say "You create your own luck".
You don't.
🤕🤕🤕
Yeah, whenever he was fighting for the title, he would crash and break something in his body or his bike would have some kind of problem or both, poor Dani, still a legend, 3 times world champion.
@@Maidenintime86 people would crash into him.
@@WestbrickFansGotNoBrains yeah that's true
Marquez was aggressive because that time his age was less. Every person knows aggression reduces with age and experience increases with age. With experience riders style becoming more and more smooth
Not just age and experience, but accidents, snd when you are young you dont think about the risks because you never lead with them.
Theyre all beast and tactician in the same time when they are on the track.
Fast during race not fast during practice😂.
*WRITE THAT DOWN YAMAHA*
As always Great video mike! 👍🏼👍🏼
Keep up the good work❤️
I love your motogp content. Subscribed!!!
Dope channel! Thank you for making content!
Golden ass remind me of Niki Lauda scene in Rush movie
Thanks. You are the only channel i've seen who makes decent MotoGP content.
Just in time..grrreart video as always Mike!!
Great information, thank you for the throrough job. Cheers!
Someone should explain number 1 to Maverick
The run to Spain for surgery and a fast recovery has been hashed. Marc isn't the only one who got bit this year by surgery and recovery that didn't go as well as expected. Cal had problems and names slip but BT was talking about Cal, Marc and a few others, and how the doc seems to not be able to pull things together and deliver like he used to.
This year, Spain used WuFlu panic to nationalize the private healthcare sector, and rolled it into the government controlled care.
OOOOO that graphic at the end for power pulses!! 👍
Could you do that with all the teams?
Awesome video, especially the technical bit about the tire at the end.
Only thing I'd have changed: using Lorenzo's broken collarbone example instead of his Shanghai crash in 2008. Being wheeled around the paddock with two fractured ankles, yet finishing second. I guess there's a lot of examples of how tough they are to choose from though!
Another winner! Thx Mike!
Lord Rossi!!!
Doohans style was always my favourite to watch
Everytime i hear or see anything of Rossi i get those chills..Between his superb, inventive style of riding, his humblness topped with his unique personality..he is what got me into MotoGP and my love for bikes now..
Good video Mike!
Awesome video man..If I could add to this video,I think Dani Pedrosa deserves to be on this list..Luck was never on his side..2012,2013 were his years..He also popularised the riding style where he would pick up the bike really early and many riders did imitate this style.
Thanks for the “Kentucky Kid” love.
Nice video!
Excellent video!!!! My favorite so far!
Can't figure out why you are saying "Raasssi" instead of Rossi though ;)
Great Video…
Yes....dirt bike riding is an absolute essential background to have to be a good track racer! It is vital to have those skills
Grym video, tack :)
The saddest thing is that a lot of these could apply to dovi, smart overtaking and strategy, giving priority to racecraft over quali pace or practice race pace, in a way he even had a "new" riding style, it wasn't new at all of course but it was something similar it was the old ride with the bike style that by the time he used it in ducati wasn't popular so in a way it was unique and for his time that was THE WAY to tame the monstruos ducati, unfortunately he scores incredibly low in the last aspect, he always mentions how he didn't have that much synergy with engineers and that was probably his downfall
You forgot Jarno Saarinen.... great driving style developer 🇫🇮
Hes garbage
Who?
I don't know who's that , but I knew Mika hakkinen and Kimi Raikkonen , great drivers
Love it!
Alan iverson fully realized the importance of practice.
😂
Can you make a video on the physics of highsides and coefficients of temparature and traction about it and etc.
Hello Mike. I recently attended a motorcycle school to improve my riding and safety.
During the lessons our instructor mentioned an incident with Casey Stoner, mentioning a snippet in slow montion where his front tire is seen almost entirely compressed and him about to lose it. Instead Stoner is seen twisting the throttle open and the tire expanding, saving it from a crash.
I have since tried to find this clip, but my attempets ended fruitless. Have you any idea of the clip our instructor was talking about and where we could see it?
Stoner is a magician.
@@rhys5567 agreed :) how to find that clip though..
@@gorylizor magicians keep their secrets.
Great video
I am suprized to hear that Doohan felt that he needed rear brakes at all. I am under the firm belief that you do not need rear brakes in racing!!! You can just use engine braking!
I rest my foot on the peg permanently. I never even touch my brakes
some riders use it while exit the corner. it helps control the power especially when you ride two stroke bike without smart modern ECU. if I'm right Australians love that technic more than other riders, not only Doohan but also Stoner and Miller
According to the thumbnail champions have golden pants or booties.
I haven’t watched it yet but I can’t wait to receive the enlightenment I was promised : )
There is “Gold”, and then there is dudes like me... “fools-gold”. I am trying to be aware, just always be aware.
That is one damn golden ass thumbnail.
Talento, carattere, genio
The will of Wayne after the injury was and is simply a clear example. He was really great
I'm learning too much.. Though i only have scoots to ride 😂
Great video Mike 👍🏾💯🇬🇧
I can’t believe the very 1st modern playboy Champion didn’t get a mention!!🤪 I’m talking about the Super7 ...Barry Sheene of course!!
0:26 was that some shade on oliveira?
That was Quartararo
@@TheFighterbike I know; but it's still applicable to Oliveira.
why do those old chequered flag guys actually looked like they wanted to hit the winners on their head...lmao
8. They all race since they were kids.
Rich spoiled kids that is
That applies to MotoGP riders in general, not only champions, he talking about what separates MotoGP champions from the rest of the riders.
@@TheInfantry98 i doubt is rich , rather parents who probably ride and want their children to ride at young age , which is rare
@@sdqsdq6274 lmfaoooo sorry bro but if mommy and daddy don’t make at least 6 figures each pet year you have no chance. I Mean fucking hell just partaking in multiple sportbike track days within riding season is stupid expensive mate, fucking stupid expensive.
And yet while explaining that Marquez is better at strategy now you still showed clips of his battles against Dovi, the only one who could outsmart him in recent years! Goes to show, you're never done learning! ;)
Marquez takes lean angle to a new level
Mick Doohan extreme crossed up style was only in left hand corners due to his leg injury.
Even in 1988 before Doohan made it to GP's he rode crossed. Check world super bike clip. Doohan showed up for a guest ride and won (crossed up). ua-cam.com/video/wX3g4tQg7Ac/v-deo.html
Number one. The golden ass. Reading the bike.
motogp:rossi 7 championships
f1:michael shumacher 7 title lewis 7 titles
You are the most Swedish sounding human on Earth
Hey why Suzuki is so perfect in this season despite having a bad start in this season.. please make a video on it.. thanks
I think you know the answer, this 2020 season is not normal, lol..
@@masribest hahaha i am happy because i own a Suzuki Gixxer 😅😂
Rossi bring "magical speed that was not there before" from the magical special delivery tyres that arrived on saturday night with the helicopter.Dorna needed a caracter so they created one. Since they "abandoned the project" he can't win nothing from 11years now , a race in 3 and so on...he just can't find anymore that magical speed.
You didn’t mention jorge Lorenzos smooth driving style, only that style can win championship with yamaha, maverik needs to learn more on it
"Champions (also) ride dirt bikes", u kinda said. Well, i am sure no champion, but i'd like to get a supermoto beside my GSXR1000 to learn "sliding 'n drifting" on that supermoto first (mainly on asphalt, coz no dirt where I live ;), before trashing my beloved Gixxer later.......... ;) I'd like to buy it used, max. budget around 3k USD (reasonable?), learn for 2 yrs 'n then sell it off, or have my teenage (total beginner) nice take it, if she likes it.... I'd LOVE 2 hear your personal opinion, which supermoto would u recommend for that ??? THANKS :) P.S.: great channel, btw :):):):)
me being an avid motocross rider and racer... "so you're saying theres a chance?"
They also learn from each other.

Are you serious? Jorge has 3 MotoGP championships, not 2.
I think he meant (2 championship) up to 2014.
And Rossi has 9 instead of 7
@@jaimegarciaescolar9598
He only listed the premier class titles, not including the 125 or 250cc titles.
Jorge 2, Rossi 10,thats how it should been
I think they are just very good riders. don't have to push it in practice when you can just clean up in the race.
they are fast in the actual race because there was an actual competition for getting positions. they like to compete with each other
Doin’ ... not dough-han ... ! 😉🇦🇺
It was Masao Furusawa who developed the 2004 winning bike. I think your info is wrong
I do not get how uneaven power pulses enable better torque characteristic, how it helps control power out of corner when it is uneaven? How does it reduce tyre wear? In my logic more regular power pulses are easier to control hah
You cannot get regular pulses with on a inline 4 engine with a flat plane crank. There'll be two dead spots per 360° of tire rotation which will put extra load when the other two parts where power delivery comes through. Think of a flat plane crank engine as a bicycle pedal. You only pedal it till it reaches a degree, then the inertia brings it back up. You cannot effectively put force on the pedal when they are at the very top or very bottom. Similarly with flat plane crank engine the 2 pistons are always at the very top and 2 pistons are always at the bottom, so when they spark like 1,4 and 2,3. There'll be a time between these two sets of pistons doing nothing but using inertia to move up or down. That'll create two flat spots on the power delivery. Rossi, Burgess and the yamaha crew did the testing on the crossplane crank for the inline 4 engine which set crank throws at every 90° eventually covering the whole 360° of rotation. That combined with an uneven firing order 1,3,2,4 the crank always gets power to rotate from each piston at any given amount of time. This enabled them to have a smooth power delivery. Crossplane i4's are like the best of both worlds. Top end of an i4 and the low end grunt of a V4. There's a lotta video's on the development of crossplane R1/M1. Check it out! Hope you can understand what I've explained!
@@Toxic88088 mate just wanna say thank you for writing that, you should start making videos about this youll get lots of views. that was art, thanks again.
well, so often i watch videos on youtube and think "god damn it; another stupid video where the owner gets money(peanuts) or views because i watched that bulls..t...
But when i watch "Mike on Bikes" i allways think; "yea man, well described and just wonderfull to watch :-)"
If someone want to learn about bikes, physics etc. - Here you get what you need and much more ;-)
Wait are you filmento? Your vice is like the same exactly
This is Mir's 2020 championship
Self drive. No bullshit self motivation.
The crossed riding style of the 90s and early 2000s was dictated by the cockpit of the motorcycle. This video talks about it: ua-cam.com/video/-hl_IrK3vic/v-deo.html&ab
Will of steel is the scariest one.
What sets MotoGP Champions apart from other racers? THEY WIN MORE RACES, DUH!!! :)
Are you swedish??
I thought marc marquez is 8 time world champion?
This is only motogp wins not moto2 and moto3
1:06 who is number 34 ? He looks like a giant on that bike...
okay I looked it up: Kevin Schwantz (5' 10")
Im not sure about this chief that A-STYLE logo seems suspicious
RIP Hayden
What if "mir" wins the championship without winning a race tho
Yer one race of the season 😆
can anyone tell me why rossi is having a bad time right now? :(
This also applies to other forms of motorsports such as F1 I would say. A great driver can help steer the development of the car to outperform what it should.
For sure, like Lauda back in the day with the horrible Ferrari F1 car, if it wasn't for Lauda's extreme sensitivity to understand what the car was doing, Ferrari would never win anything at that time.
I think the first one is already wrong. Marquez for example is not only fast in races, but also in qualifying. The fact, the he is able to win from the back if the grid, doesn't mean, he is always slow in qualifying cause 'it doesn't matter". He is always fast, he set the most poles in the last years. Thats what champions differ from the other riders, always being able to ride fast, not only when it matters.
Didn't watch the other 6
Joan Mir now :D
Joan Mir gonna be the next champion. 11th to podium.
As an Australian, allow me to help you pronounce Mick's name correctly. The 'h' in Doohan is silent. It is pronounced like the word 'doing' but without the 'g'. Thanks
Nr.1.......Rossi
You forgot Schwantz and Pedrosa.
Where is your accent from?
Guy martin,michael dunlop?
7 Things MotoGP champions have in common
1. They all won the MotoGP
Rossi have 10 championships not 7 (I put 10 and not 9 because 2015 is practically his win)
3:22 *3 Championships
vinales need to understand no 7 fast
Ita sub 😭😭😭
lorenzo have 3 motogp chamiponships not 2
Isn't the thumbnail of this video misleading?
VR46
5:49 Niki Lauda be like
Valintino rossi the best of all times
