Totally with you on the Parker live well. Nuts to take up that much room in that area on a boat that size. I think Parker’s are super cool too but I don’t understand that at all.
Thank you Sir, The Defiance 220 Admiral is the one I am saving for. One great feature missed, and unique to the size pilot, is Under the port jump seat open the top door is the Battery switch and I believe breaker, below that compartment the batteries are in bottom compartment accessible via that door. Out of the weather, no battery components exposed to bilge area crud or salt water. Keep up the good work. Rich
After contemplating the move from a cc to a pilot house and lots of research, went with the Steiger 255 Miami. No monkey fur inside the cabin or helm, big fish box in floor, nice live well etc… but the most important thing to me after owning a few newer boats was the ability to speak with Al & George at the factory and semi customize the build. Lifetime hull warranty and Al said anything ever goes wrong, bring it to the factory and they will fix it and I believe him. Just great to deal with and love the boat after almost a full season and 130hrs. Fluke, drifting eels for striper or near shore for tuna with a few overnights thrown in, does it all.
I saw Defiance last year at NEBS in Boston and like it a lot. I could not compare it to Parker or Steiger as I didn't see these there though. You didn't mentioned but Defiance has full height glass door, not sure if it's practical as I never own a boat yet but it was very appealing feature.
Owned a new recent model year Parker 2120 which had multiple build quality issues not to mention it handled poorly especially in a following sea. Glad to have sold it! Went back to a locally (New England) built center console and much happier in most respects. Agree with you on appreciating boats built local to where you live. I have found it valuable to continue the relationship with the builder when local.
I purchased the a 2023 Admiral 220 in 2023. Love it! A few things not mentioned in this clip. No wood at all in the makeup of this boat. Lifetime warranty on the hull and batteries are inside the pilot house and stay dry and easily accessible. Looked at the other brands mentioned and for my money Defiance was my choice and don’t regret it at all!
Heads up from the PNW…. The original owner / founder of Arima boat company sold the business to another company a few years ago. Arima always had an excellent reputation in this region over the years, hopefully the new owners are maintaining the high levels of craftsmanship!
Defiance and Arima are two brands we don't see much up this way but was so nice to have them represented at this boat show. The Arima was a bargain compared to almost everything else at the show
@@jiggingjerks They (Arima & Defiance) are actually made by the same company, along with a heavy gauge welded aluminum brand called Allied. I would think transportation cost would put Arima & Defiance at a pricing disadvantage when compared to the east coast built pilot houses in the east cost market . I wonder if they are selling boats at cost to get a foot hold in the east coast market.🤷🏼 You should go to the Seattle boat show, lots of pilot house style boats there!
Unfortunately Northcoast "temporarily" paused their 21 pilothouse. I think permanently. Know someone with one in CT. Some quirks but they love it. They chose it two years ago over the 21' Parker because of that Parker euro transom vs the bracket on the 21 NC
I have a ‘03 2120, which does not have the stupid integrated livewell. The deck space is substantially larger than the newer model and can easily fish 4. Other than that, the boat is exactly the same…If money wasn’t an option, I’m going the DV Steiger, but for $30k less, the Parker will do the same job. Very capable boat either 40 miles out or in the back bays.
@@jiggingjerks I know many have cut the livewell out of newer ones due to space constraints... I can only imagine Parker wanted to add a livewell, but keep the ability of trimming the motor totally out of the water. I wish my boat had one, but not at the sacrifice of THAT much deck space.
I'd go 21 miami. The seats are much nicer, regarding upholstery and arm rests. Not sure if its still made with a modified hull but i would probably want that hull for drift fishing. Woah you compared the bilge access and wiring on each. The livewell on the parker ruins the boat for me. Also the 21 parker has plywood under that deck.
The admiral 220 seemed to be the best bang for the buck. Also, enough with the Long Island nonsense, high taxes high crime and heavy traffic. The place sucks.
I don’t recommend pilot house boats, I had one, they act like parachutes catching the wind , very difficult to maneuver into a slip. Forget about Steiger, I won’t get into specifics, thanks.

21 Miami for sure! I like the enclosed forward cabin, level deck, lots of fishing room.
The last one was the one i liked best but I do wish it was set up better on the cockpit for fishing.

Not a fan of the 21 Parker design. They should have closed the transom and put a braket on it.

The Parker Pilothouse is low quality 2-piece design and very rough ride. Been on a few. And they don't age well.
