Great video as always! We started with a new Carolina skiff 21 ls with a 115 in 2020, loved that boat but wanted to fish further offshore (nj) and got a great deal on a low hour 2022 Cobia 220 for this past season, we couldn’t be happier. Both are incredible boats, but honestly if the prices for the skiff were like this back then, I’m not sure we ever would’ve gotten into boating. The prices are what they are, but it feels like deal hunting for good used boats makes so much more sense for people shopping in this entry level range, and watching your videos made me way more confident going through the used boat buying process.

14:12, on the Grady, I think that is a telescoping ski tow bar

The Grady White was my favorite. The way it was equipped, the leaning post has a live well under the starboard helm seat. The fit and finish make it more family-friendly. For that price, it should have been equipped with the 250hp outboard.

Thanks for showing us around John. One of the best boats in that size range that I ever owned was a 23 ft Sea Hunt with a 225 hp four-stroke Honda on the back. I bought the boat new and sold it 4 years later for exactly what I initiallly paid for it! 👍👍

No doubt Sea Hunts are great values and hold their value. Was this the Triton version? I've ridden on a newer 234 (the modified vee model) and I found it pounded quite a bit even in a moderate chop

Definitely going with the Pair. Crawled all over the 24 at the AC boat show and was in love. Maybe one day lol

The Nauticstar glove box hinge screws aren’t centered on the edge of lid, evident of the 4 lumps expanding the edge at the bottom. Quality control? At 5:12 minutes into the video wonder what else is poor quality control?

The Pair was very nice. Looked like a 3 piece build. Built for fishing without the fluff(seating bow and stern). ❤❤❤

Love these boat videos. Can’t wait for the Mohegan boat expo in January

Great video. Love your boat show and charter videos. I really like the Cobia. Hopefully one day can finally get that boat. 22 or the 24ft Cobia is my dream boat these days. Have a great Thanksgiving.

@@jiggingjerks John. Hopefully get my brother and nephews on a charter with you next year, Grew up on the island but live elsewhere now. Only things I miss about LI are the beaches, boats and fishing. First fish was a small striper on the Captree docks in early 70s. You represent LI well.

Where can I find out about these boat shows before they happen

    • @jiggingjerks
      @jiggingjerks  2 місяці тому

@@seanhakakian8075 good question. I typically have ads pop up in Facebook and Instagram. For the Florida shows I attend, I know that Stuart is in January and Miami is in February and I google the specifics about a month before each show and start planning my attendance.

Hi John, As part of your review Sir might I suggest checking if a boat has the screwed down & caulked hatch to access fully and replace the fuel tank. I notice some of the lower priced models like Sea Chaser, Carolina skiff & Bulls bay have the foresight to build that into their designs. So one day, and it happens, you do not have to cut open the deck to get to the tank. The Irony is many of the most expensive boats do not design this feature in, even though they are the dream lifetime boats people pay up for and keep forever-(need to change tanks in decades to come). What about 23 Regulator?

I know that Great Bay had some Carolina skiffs that while it is cheaper in price they seemed to be a bit flat and would not exactly be a comfortable riding boat in our Eastern LI bays. No Robalo's which I have in this size range.

Wish I could ride the other boats. I love my Grady, but need a bigger boat.

Really hard to stomach the price on the Pair. I noticed in some of your other videos that you can pick up a few feet of OAL in the same price range. Love Pair's work, but will probably end up in a Dusky 252...

Not sure if it was there. To be fair, there were a lot of boats there and I definitely didn't get to all of them

  • @mulletoutdooradventures6286

Im not paying any of those prices for any of them. I don't get how prices have sky rocketed so much. People are WAY better off finding a used boat and throwing a new motor on it. My new boat i paid$1500 got a 98 Hydra Sport 1900 with a trailer and running Johnson Ocean Runner 175. I got a grand for the 175 on trade for a 140 Suzuki that was $9800 new. So i basically at $10,300 have a new boat. To me people are suckers that think they are getting a deal these days. For what? New boats definitely aren't made like they used to be. It cracks me up how in 92 my pop bought a brand new Grady Sailfish with full electronics for $75,000. Today they are almost$250,000. How? What actually justifies that? Nothing. It's all the same materials and if you actually do the work on your boat you know those materials haven't gone up the same

yeah those Pair prices are starting to get a bit much. 121k for a 21? woof. my 24dv with twin 200's was 145k when I bought it Feb 2023 and that was tough to swallow. Same boat today is about 30-40k more. Great boats but they're pricing out most buyers.
