This is an OMG moment! I'm cooking different SOAF recipes twice a week, and have just made this. I used Chorizo, and boy oh boy it was absolutely "on the money" in every way and extremely delicious. Cooking Albert's recipes is now a new hobby for me, and I look forward to every meal I make, because following Albert's easy recipes, each and every dish comes out EXACTLY how he describes them..Although this looks easy, I still felt a little nervous that something could go wrong....and it absolutely DIDN'T!!! ❤
Even though some purist would argue that arroz con costra is not cooked that way, you always manage to keep things simple without compromising the essence of Spanish cuisine. Congrats for the channel. M'agrada molt.
I would like to make a suggestion : don't throw away your garbanzo beans/chickpeas liquid. You can freeze it in a plastic container or use it straight away, as an alternate to stiffly whisked egg whites. Vegans or people allergic to eggs use this all the time. It is known as aquafaba & you can find recipes online. It makes the most divine meringues. I can highly recommend it.
@@rbagboyz Don't be put off when you first start beating the aquafaba. It will look like it is just the liquid from the can but after a short while it will start frothing & then increase in volume, just like the white of eggs when being whisked. I hope you give it a go & enjoy it!
Thank you. What a wonderful thing to learn. I was already taken with this dish, BECAUSE it includes garbanzo beans. Now, to learn that when I use a can/jar, I have further use of the liquid.
Wow! Thanks for a great new idea. I've had aquafaba as an ingredient in some packaged vegan items, but didn't realize that it simply consists of: aqua=water, faba=bean. (I think that I've seen it on grocery store shelves also.)
Hi Albert, so simple, so delicious. I did it will Chorizo. Thank you for all your well presented recipes that whet my appetite. 😋 Ciao Jack, from Germany
Alacant / Elx “La Millor Terreta Del Món”. Arroz con costra, delicioso Albert! Me gusta la simplicidad de tu manera de cocinarlo. Un plato que al parecer puede ser complicado. Un abrazo
Wow, this looks amazing! We'll definitely try this recipe. Every one of your recipes we've tried have been fantastic, thanks! Takes me back to when we visited Barcelona several years ago.
Looks good. Never saw this. I know arroz con chorizo and arroz con garbanzos since I live in Puerto Rico and we have many recipes (recetas) that are from Spain, but never seen this one. Will give a try.
Have to try! You give us such simple, easy , stupendous (does anyone say that? Lol!!) Spanish recipes. How come your not on TV? Lol! UA-cam's probably better, right? Reaches more people? How many followers do you have? If you don't mind my asking that is. You're the best! Watch you always.
Discovered your channel recently & excellent!!! Where can I purchase the Hacendado Cooked Garbanzos in the glass jars? I looked everywhere, and it seems it's only available on websites in Europe.
@@SpainonaFork Ok, thanks! I am in NYC. I have never seen Garbanzos in glass jars here in the US. Because of chemicals, cans with BPA linings, etc., I try to buy most of my foods in BPA Free containers and glass jars.
The US online firm "myPanier" shows jarred garbanzos from Spain on their website. Many products from Spain, France, Italy and other countries are listed. They're in Lake Forest (Orange County) CA. I plan to try them out soon.

The "Beyond Meat" brand is vegan. I think that's what was used in this recipe. The "Gardein" brand of plant-based "meat" and other faux animal products is also quite tasty.
@@lcoleman6046 I'll try out the Field Roast brand. So far, Gardein brand "Ultimate" burgers are my favorite. Their plant-based meatballs and fake fish fillets are also pretty good. "Impossible" brand is also okay. The "Fatburger" fast food chain here in Southern Calif. makes great "the works, everything on it" Impossible burgers. (But the pandemic has kept me away for over a year now.)

That looks fantastic but I just checked out the price on the saffron, my goodness I can't afford that price, that's more expensive than I thought. Loved the recipe, thanks for sharing
Definitely won’t be making that dish! No way! Can’t believe you even posted it. I’d eat the portion you showed on that plate (which looked like 1/2), no I’d eat it all.
. . . this recipe strongly reminds me of Gallo Pinto (a standard dish in Central America - just google for it) - not bad, but in no way mind blowing . . . how even should it? (olive oil, sausage(?), garlic, (no onions?), tomatoes, white (or red) beans, rice, broth (and Safran?) . . . that 's a daily dish for cheap in whole Latin America - except they usually don't go for sausage (but for separately fried bacon strips and eggs), spiced up with cilantro / parsley / chilli which isn't bad, too, and a bit more thrilling . . . I tried it right out of the oven and after a resting period of 5-6 minutes - couldn't detect any remarkable difference . . . had the rest of it (uncovered in the fridge over night) and at the next day for breakfast warmed up in a skillet and spiced up with some chilli flakes - it was much crustier now and really flavorful . . .
I don't understand in this and another video, are you saying "round" rice or "ground" rice. Neither type is in my American grocery store. Enjoy the mostly vegetarian recipes; thank you.
