It is time to preserve our homegrown elderberries. I'm going to make an easy batch of elderberry syrup, an elderberry tincture, and my favorite elderberry tea. If you do not have fresh elderberries, I will link some below.
Elderberry Syrup Recipe:
2 cups of fresh elderberries (1 1/2 cup of dried)
6 cups of distilled water
2 cinnamon sticks (2 tsp of dried)
8 to 10 whole cloves (2 tsp of dried)
2 tbsp of fresh ginger (2 tsp of dried)
2 cups of raw honey
In a pot, bring elderberries, water, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves to a boil. Simmer for 45 minutes. Allow to cool and strain. Add honey and mix well. Store in jars in fridge for fall and winter season.
Elderberry Tincture Recipe:
Using a pint size jar fill with 200ml of dried elderberries. Cover and fill jar with 80 to 100 proof vodkas, leaving 1 inch of head space. Label with name and date. Store in cool, dark area for 6 to 8 weeks. Strain and store in amber glass. Use when ever needed.
Elderberry Tea
Boil 6 to 8 oz of water
Steep 1 chamomile tea bag for 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove tea bag and add 1 to 2 tbsp of elderberry syrup (elderberries are high in fiber so start out with less and build up to more). Optional: add a shot of elderberry tincture.

Love your presentation. Very easy to follow. Thankyou
So glad you found it helpful! Thank you for your encouraging words.
What if you are using fresh or fresh frozen? Is it still half the jar?
@gratiasgarden, I've used fresh picked and or frozen berries for syrup or teas, but for tincture they need to be dried. I hope that answers your question.
