Right now I am making a calendula salve, cardamom tincture, vanilla, cacao and cinnamon extracts, some of my own essential oils including lavender and marigold. Plus a few other things 🤩😍. Oh and when my salve and oils are done I will not throw out the flowers just throw them in some white rice and cook up, no need for oils or butter as the flowers will have enough for the rice ❤️.
I enjoyed your video! I make the syrup, tinture, jellies etc also. You are so right about the labor intense process to harvest and process the berries! ( but I love it) if folks had to go out and do this, they would understand why it's so expensive! It's worth it. Here is what I do with the elderberies I have left after straining thru the cheese cloth. I do compost for my chickens but I saw a lady talk about this and I have done it. I dump all the elderberries that I used for syrup in a Mason jar and cover with organic apple cider vinegar. Turn regular like tinture and let sit at least 6 weeks. I generally strain the berries but you don't have to. I take a swig every day so I get the benefits of ACV and Elderberry. It's awesome! Blessings
Terri Hanna hey sweet friend So happy we have reconnected! I haven’t done the fire cider yet but it’s definitely in my plan. Maybe you can share your wisdom with me on this!❤️
I’m in the process of harvesting my elderberries now as they ripen. The berries (still on the stems) go in the freezer until I have enough and once frozen, they come off the stems easily. There’s tincture and syrup in my pantry. Also have comfrey steeping in olive oil to make a healing salve. There are vanilla beans that have been steeping in vodka for years now and I just keep adding vodka and more beans as I feel they are needed. I also make apple scrap vinegar and raspberry wine vinegar (store bought wine). The left overs from making vinegar or the tinctures are great for the chickens and you can use it to kick start fermented feed for the chickens. Your instructions were clear though maybe include a warning about some of the essential oils for some people.
I make something with elderberry every year. I bought a small stainless steel fruit press on eBay so I could press every drop of goodness out. I am also making Mullen tincture from the flowers of Mullen. I love wild edibles and learning to live off the things that grow in the wild.
I made my own blackberry jelly this August. Three-for from Stark spring 23 of Chester variety. I collected a 2 qt colander every other day for 2 weeks. I got to canned 12 half pints and two pint jars of jelly-seedless. And prolific… it touches dirt, it grows a new one. Invasive if I can’t gift them. My elderberries are rocking it too. One to start but Stark recommended another variety with it so started with two. Acts as a male? I got a different cutting of another variety sticks2 yrs ago that had 2 small clusters the deer ate quickly. #1 &2 Just got its 2nd yr cutting this year and it had large blossoms Fall surprise with it 4 new babies sprouted up 3 ft away from mom. With 7 qts in the freezer it’s time to make tincture and syrup.
YOU were the greatest, most straight to the point channel ive found!!! I also.mix my elderberry syrup, (which I prefer without honey as the Elderberries are DELICIOUS on their own), Yet for my water, I replace STRONG mullen tea which i use 50 /50 and crock pot it ALL night, then...VERY IMPORTANT: STRAIN it 3 times prior to use. Also, PLEASE do a recipe on Elderberrie/ANY fruit gummies using pectin. ***ALWAYS used distilled water, i h e drops of minerals i add to the distilled water...
Thank you so much. And I love the suggestion on adding the mullein tea. I already have my elderberry syrup made up so I think I will make a cup of mullein tea and add my dose of elderberry syrup to it. 🤔 Blessings!
I am going to make the tincture and use it as a preventative. Also hoping a daily dose will be a great anti inflammatory for my shoulder issues. Thanks for sharing!
I have had dried elderberries stored on my shelf for over a year. 🤷🏼♀️. I intended to make it up last winter but just never did. My goal for today is to get that made and start chugging 😁. Thanks, Tracy ❤️
I am growing my own elderberry plants. Until they bloom. I’m using dried European berries. The syrup has worked so well for us. I have run out of the syrup so I need to make more. Can the syrup be frozen?
So i picked thw elserberries and i poured 100 proof vidka iver the top and sealed it. I mase a gallon batch. My quewtion is since u did not cook the berries when i strain it will it be safe for my family or did i just make a poison? i just picked the berries, put then in a jar covered with alcohol. Do i juat strain the berriea out and still use thw tincture or throw it out? How do i salvage?
Hi Just strain the berries from the liquid and your tincture should be perfectly fine. As long as you did not use the green berries and only the dark purple ripe berries your tincture will be fine
Where can I find the health benefits of the oils you talk about in your videos never have used oils before an I would like to find different ways of making elderberry syrups whit different makeups to find out what I like the most thank you in advance
Hey Ray. First of all, I only use young living essential oils. You can go to their website and learn all about the company. ( www.youngliving.com/apps/enrollment/step/1) The oils YL produces are 100% essential oils, no fillers or synthetic chemicals! I also have a great resource book that I refer to all the time. It is essential oils pocket reference published by life science. (www.DiscoverLSP.com). Please follow me on Instagram (Tracy.britnell) If I can further help you with oil essential oil questions. Thank you so much for watching. Blessings!
Hi! First of all, thank you for watching! Yes, there are different essential oils. Some are not really for consumption but there are many that are safe and actually very healing. First of all, make sure you are using a high quality oil. One that is 100 % essential oil from the plant and not one that is made from mostly synthetic fillers. The company I completely trust & use is Young Living! Second, before you consume any, do a little research and make sure it is one that is safe for consumption.

Oh Wow! You are doing so much! That is awesome and great idea to cook them. That has never even crossed my mind. Thank you!

I’ve been doing the elderberry tincture and fire cider for about 2 years now ... swear by them both 😊 thanx for sharing!

I haven’t done the fire cider yet but it’s definitely in my plan. Maybe you can share your wisdom with me on this!❤️
What I found to be the easiest to harvest from the stems is to freeze the whole head of fresh berries first. They just fall off the stems.
Hey Cheryl! Thank you for joining us and Thank you so much for the suggestion! Blessings!

Great information 👌
Thank you. God bless!
Why was I under the impression that you’re not supposed to consume essential oils? Is there different types of essential oils ?

@@justdigitfarms that’s so good to know, thank you so much for educating me on this subject! I had no idea!
Oop! you had me at essential oil. I don't do those it would kill my Recipe.
What do you mean, it would kill your recipe?
I just think some of those high volatile oils can Irritate the stomach. Topical OK.
This is great for COVID! 🤗. Following your recipe. Thank you!
Well at least your chickens will be healthy chickens this flu season. lol
If you would pour some of the warm liquid in that jar you wouldn't have to scrape a hole in it
Thank you 😊
Thank you Rubia! 🙏🏻for good health!
