What I take away from this scene and never dawned on me before…is when Shelby was going to get the axe and be cut from Ford, while he was in there persuading Henry Ford ll…he told him everything on their car at lemans failed….except the brakes. And now here we are at this scene where nothing failed…but the brakes.
If you’re consider yourself purchasing the Ford GT or Mustang black horse remember this: There's a point at 7,000 RPM... where everything fades. The machine becomes weightless. Just disappears. And all that's left is a body moving through space and time. 7,000 RPM. That's where you meet it. You feel it coming. It creeps up on you, close in your ear. Asks you a question. The only question that matters. Who are you?
Felt this once in my old Integra on a slight bump in freeway when I was a new driver, it's the moment I really first realized "oh shit, I can die" when speeding.
The way Shelby stopped running and looked back at Peter was it for me. He knew there was no chance that Ken could have survived that. It’s gut wrenching.
