The mere existence of the word "asian", that people think it conveys some sort of meaning, tells a lot already. This might be a case of China not having a system of joint custody when people divorce. 90% of the time custody is granted to the mother. The parent who is awarded custody can legally cut off the other parent if they want to. It seems that Johnny sees his son, even if it is not as much as he likes. He might not legally have the right to bring the child with him. That is why he feels bad about going to the US. It's not like he's ditching his kid on the street in order to do cosplay.
It is addressed in later episodes, his parents help take care of his son. He’s going to America first to see if he can build an actual staple life before taking his son over.

This is the first video I have ever watched of MrNigelng. I had a stroke a year ago (actually it was my third) that affected my ability to laugh which has always been my favorite thing to do. I only said this to explain how funny this man is!! I was loudly belly laughing with tears streaming down my face!!
