You both broke every rule in the book. Never attack the same target twice never circle around never straight and level for more than few seconds over flak area..... One of the best books about this is from Pierre Clostermann flying circus. The last part is about tempest combat operation over Germany in the last month's of the war.
I agree with this. Pierre Clostermann's (The Big Show) accounts of diving through flak while attacking enemy airfields are very intense, and he was usually doing it from a high level starting point. My father flew the RAF Mustang II with 268 squadron, a tactical reconnaissance unit, over the German occupied airfields in France leading up to D-Day. They flew at about 6 feet (2 metres) down the runway, taking oblique photographs of what might be hiding in hangars and under trees. Flak was less of an issue, there was more risk of being bayonetted (he said). The Mustang II with 268 Squadron had 4 x Hispano 20mm cannons, quite unusual armament. Still had the Allison engine though, but still very good at low level. While it is generally accepted that the Luftwaffe failed to turn up for D-Day, the allied air forces had an easy ride. My father was spotting for the Royal Canadian Navy from 04:00 on June 6th 1944. Most danger was from allied flak, especially naval. Dad was over Evreux when the Luftwaffe eventually showed up week later and was shot down by FW 190's, ending up in Stalag Luft III.
@@Jon.Cullen I think the best moment in the book is when he is sitting in the casino and is listening to the radio that announced the end of the war. And he tells that for a short moment he saw the ghosts of his fellow pilot friends who died that where came to visit him. And your right he describes this one attack where they where 8 aircraft before and only him and some other guy where left 20 seconds later while the rest got shot down over the airfield. What a fucking waist of life this was. My grandfather was in concentration camp Dachau for 5 years. This
Much better than the war Thunder experience...lol. I love close air support missions. Was my mos... Aviation Ordnance on harriers out of Yuma. We were actually the first squadron to test the lightningII targeting pod in Afghan back in Oct. '02-Oct. '03. First time we used laser-guided. Then the JDam came soon after. VMA-513 was sadly retired though to make way for F35 squadrons. Anyways, keep up the work. Warbirds are fun...👍😁
War Thunder is so buggy and glitchy that it doesn't deserve even 1 cent from the players, i don't play DCS because of 2 reasons: 1- im a xbox one player 2- if i try to run DCS on my xbox it will probably blow up
These are my favorite vids now! More of this kind of stuff would be awesome! Wouldn't mind even seeing a full mission from takeoff to landing, including the slow bits because that makes the action even more exciting :)
I’m so ready to get into this. I finally bought a VKB Gladiator NXT, a Vive Pro 2, and some DCS content. Now I just need to learn the finer details of DCS and find people to play with. I started with the Bf 109👀 Also, which map should I buy first? The Channel, or Normandy? I’m leaning more towards The Channel.
I have no idea who writes Longshot's script, but its gold. "I have something leaking out of me!" I absolutely the level of detail you put into your 'world'. Are we going to see some more famous things, those three radar towers I believe were part of the Chain Home system. Maybe the sub pens or dry docks at Brest, or a battleship! I for one can't wait to see what come next. Cheers.
This is so incredible. Watching GS strafe into these bombing runs is just amazing. It's truly looks real. Not to mention the damage hevis taking during the runs. Just outstanding. Unbelievable game.
I remember seeing some Pearl Habor footage of a Zero strafing a ship and firing his machine gun when suddenly something detonated on the deck of the ship and debris shot up hundreds of feet in the air and it actually clipped one of the Zeros wings causing him to crash and cartwheel violently into the ocean immediately. It would be amazing if that was possible on here.
My dads boss in the 70s had this huge red scar on the side of his face and neck. I asked my dad about it, He crash landed his Mustang after taking down two ME109s, the third got him.
Keep 'em coming! My Son and I are now dead set on getting the T-Bolt and joining you and LS over the skies of France... I don't need a positive balance in my bank account anyway....It's not like my credit rating can get any worse! ;)
Can't wait for this. I grabbed the P47 and haven't had the motivation to learn it, and an environment like this will be perfect. For the Jug, and the Mosquito...
The Creater knows All, sees All, and Obliterates All! Lmao! Good show GS, you threw Longshot in the very very very deep end and it supplied Excessive laughter and giggles! 🙃😊😋
I wouldn't have wanted to be a fighter pilot in WW2, no matter how many hot meals, hot showers, and nights on clean sheets I might get back at my base. I'll take boots on the ground any day. Nice vid. Thanks.
You should be flying the P47 if you plan on straffing/fighting anything.. Best plane in the war!! Words from my grandfather.. Master Sargent, USAAC.. Mechanic at large!! Old farmer boy that could fix ANYTHING..
Thank you for a ground attack episode. It's appreciated. Perhaps not so much by Longshot after face planting in a French field. I do think you need to count your rockets as you launch them. The parting shot appeared to show unused rockets, unless of course it was an amalgam of footage? If it was I'll shut up. I'll probably join post Christmas when I can get a Joystick and hopefully a Mosquito.
watching this 3 years later still great, how ever i don't know if you have a better computer now or the game has updated a lot but seems graphically you have come a long way.... or is it in my head?
I've been watching your vids for a while now ...not sure how long ago I subscribed ...& it took this long to get into DCS. & I'm glad I did ...it is great ...but DANG ...it is hard!!!! ...lol. I have only one successful landing in the P-51. I guess that is how a REAL simulator should be!
GS: *SEES ALL THE THINGS IN FRENCH TOWN* Me: *Sees a bunch of buildings* Also, Longshot's crash landing got me thinking... What about a survival game based on being a downed allied airman in WWII?
I am so beyond excited for this. Are these engagements spawns repeatable? Mostly wondering what the framerate is going to look like with a full server and every engagement spawned. The channel is not optimized super well as yet, and guys with mid-grade PCs *cough* me *cough* might be on the struggle bus with everything that's gonna be going on.
GS:"I absolutely destroyed that medical building so thats good" *Geneva convention would like to know your location for attacking a marked medical target
Am I just seeing things, or was your rocket taken out by AAA fire at the 2:52 mark? It looks like you fired your salvo, and the AAA fired a spread at you… and their bullets hit your rocket! Definitely looked like the rocket exploded before hitting the ground!
You try taking footage of some of your gun runs in the mustang and applying black and white and distortion filters to make it look like authentic ww2 footage.

ok im not the best in a spitfire but i will like to practice there xD
Alright already! Let us play! Lol I get it though, gotta test it out. Loving it so far.
The slower speeds and interaction with ground targets are amazing to watch.
Thank you
@@dougroberts3840 There's no reason we wouldn't be able to.

Sensitive 😂
Wonder what the kill silhouette is for a medical building... crutches?
Warcrimes intensifies
Well he is a US citizen, what else did you expect
Warcrimes is 2nd nature to them
In the last video he levelled an entire town to get a convoy. The only reason he is not dismissed is because he is a multiple ace.
GS: "See you after the War"
LS: "That's cold dude"
The p-47 seems more suited to general ruckus causing.
Longshot's a POW haha. Love longform Normandy DCS videos, feels more immersive than modern fighter videos somehow.

LOVE the WWll vids - total reliance on only what you can manage to see!
