If you wish to join the server you will need the following things: DCS Open Beta, Search for Growling Sidewinder World At War, you will also need 1 world war 2 module, Allied or Axis doesn't matter, The Channel Map, and the World War 2 Assets pack. If you have all of those things you can join the server and get this world war 2 experience on the server. Thanks for watching and those of you who have joined the server I hope you're enjoying. I am still making changes as we go its still early days of the server right now so expect improvements as time goes by. Thank you.
Great flying, thank you for sharing.
Does DCS have the P-38 Lightning?
I can't find the server in the open beta.
You did an ok ammount of damage for that kind of pass, since he didn't see you, you could have taken a bit more time to aim better, also use 10° flaps for tight turns. I see u struggle a lot with the mustang, u need to practice a lot because it's the most difficult fighter to dogfight in (if you consider p47/A8 AG only, but even then a skilled A8 pilot can put up a good fight, p47 is fàçked without cover)
Thanks as always for sharing. Would love to know your computer specs as that looks pretty special
wait how and when did you repair your plane?!
3:12 I can just imagine them exchanging insurance details on the way down
🤣😹😂😅🥲😹

I figured the Brit was still making his case for claiming the kill from GS and they were gonna have a fist fight in the water.
Pistols out. Shoot until dry. Throw pistols. Miss again. Slowly float together. Slap fight on the way into the water.
@@dart5722010 get to the sea, hand-rear a shark, train it to attack the other guy. If that fails, thrash each other to death with kelp.
The Allied Air Forces paint schemes from Overlord onwards were pretty baller when you think about it. They were like - we just don't want friendly fire, so we'll paint ourselves as recognisable as possible; we don't care about camouflage, we couldn't give a shit if you see us, of course you're going to see us. You'll just shit yourselves, we own the sky
"b-b-b-but luftwaffe was better" lol
Then towards the very end, some of the German paint schemes were like "yes we know you've only been a flak gunner for three weeks but please try to not shoot the planes with red and black on the bottom."
A lot of the AAF aircraft no matter what squadron were like that to be honest, just a lil more discreet about it.
@@hbtm2951 They objectively were. Outnumbered on a two front war with a lower population kinda makes you lose wars.
@@WalrusWinking if only they hadn't reduced their own population by gassing a major part of the country 🤔
The rudder stomp to keep guns on the 190 from 30 feet away was b-e-a-utiful.
I'm suprised the pilot survived... he shat hot lead all over that butcher bird's cockpit with that burst.
@@stinkyfungus I had the same thought, I guess the armor behind the cockpit was thick enough to protect them?
@@cameronsenna8979 And I just rewatched it, those were hitting from the side of the cockpit and should have definitely gone into the torso area of the pilot. Damage simulation just isn't that good in DCS I guess, especially when their focus are 20mm+ guns like the vulcan, and most kills are with missiles which don't require complex damage models.
Anybody else here squeezing the imaginary trigger when GS moves into position for a kill? Or is it just me?
No, but I do find myself correctly anticipating how GS is going to react. Maybe I'm learning something.
Also ducking to see around the cockpit 😂
@@jakeevans5892 And leaning with the plane....
@@9HighFlyer9 Ive learned so much from watching this guy fly. You watch these fights enough you start to see the patterns. You learn what the right decisions and wrong decisions are supposed to look like and it becomes much easier to replicate.

That Spitfire pilot really wanted that kill xD
That kill on the D-8 was amazing, can't wait to try this out once the next sale hits. Great work on the mission GS, keep the videos flowing!
where i can find next sell ?
You’re amazing

"I think 50 cal should do a little more damage than that" - Every DCS mustang thread ever, anywhere.
Tell em'to shoot at jets... seems .50 is kryptonite for jet fighters.
Tracer rounds don't do as much damage as far as I've seen through other games, Unless its APIT
in my experience if that was IL2 that 109 would have been shredded
@@solus48 IL 2 the plane or the game? The plane shoots 23mm shells, so no wonder the 109 would be salad in a couple of hits.
@@baginatora the game
That yellow paint job is, somehow, some awesome camouflage. They look: “Hey, it’s a Piper Cub. No way I gotta worry about that!”
Your mustang paint job is slick as hell.
that first kill all i hear is Michael Caine's voice from Battle of Britain "How many time have I told you - never fly straight and level for more than 30 seconds in a combat area!"
Love the WW2 content, way more entertaining to watch than the modern day stuff, just my opinion
I agree. No missiles , just guns 😁
Thanks for the work you put into this project. Your dynamic WW2 server sounds like a great idea.
I would’ve loved to hear the conversation between the spitfire and 109 pilot that would’ve been awkward
Not only is your commentary awesome, you're flying is top notch. Thank you.

It's really cool how I can see refinement and better coordination in your flying with WW2 aircraft as you continue making these videos over the past weeks, love this content.
Did the spit and 109 pilots pull their side arms and start firing at each other??
Ah yes, I see you are a man of culture

Naah, they exchanged social media contact details and shared dating tips. 🤣
The mustang was really one of the best of WWII dogfighting. Such an amazing bird.
2:57 some people will do literally anything if it means they get the last laugh in their head it’s quite incredible to watch when no ones in any actual danger
My appreciation for WWII birds has been fully rekindled thanks to this.. i love it man!
These are the videos i look forward to. I haven’t been so excited to see somebody post since like 10th grade
Pretty historical situation at the end, basically what the Germans faced in 1944/45 outnumbered 10 to 1 or worse in the air. That rudder adjustment when peppering the Fw190-A8 with .50cals was impressive, very surprised that the pilot survived and could eject.
Have you ever been to England? I live near Dover (my nearest WW2 airfield is Manston) and I can see home at the start of this video. It's uncanny how realistic this all looks, it really captures summer in the channel. We love the Spitfire of course, my grandfather worked on designing it and Kent bought its own squadron of them - we still have a Spitfire Day every year where we celebrate the "British Statue of Liberty". But I also always loved the P-51, they are so iconic, such great planes. Thanks for this vid!
How did that fw-190 pilot bail out after having his canopy raked twice by .50 cal? He should have been extremely dead.
the FW-190's canopy is actually extremely durable, 50 cal doesn't pose much of an issue against it, albeit in small quantities.
Love these! Could we get a little video on what each of these fighter planes do well and do badly? A whole strengths and weaknesses thing?
That is a real "I'm over here! Come at me, bro!" paint scheme.
That rudder input to lay down the hate at 4.32 was awesome
It's a shame these ww2 videos don't get as many views. Personally, I prefer gunfights to missiles, so this is my kind of dogfighting content.
4:25 how nice, you blew his canopy off to cool him down
wow..LOVING the WWII action! Can't wait to see more!!!
Keep em coming!!!!
Maybe GS can get through to ED about the .50 cals damage model with German planes, 150 octane gas for Allied planes as MW50 is used in German planes, and why the Merlin engine is so prone to quitting when coolant and oil temps are in the green.
.50 cals in DCS tend to do a lot less damage than they historically did. Yes, .50 cals are weaker than a 20mm, but 2x .50 cals are about like 1 20mm cannon, at about 30% less effective range IRL. So that 109 should have been disintegrated and lit on fire. DCS damage model does not model oil/fuel fires in planes nearly as well as it could, which doesn't matter much with 20/30mm cannons as they tend to use HE as the main way to kill planes, but it's telling with machinegun fire in DCS that relies on flames.
Even if this was rifle-caliber machine guns, that would be enough damage to kill it, that's several seconds of time on target. Something's definitely off with the damage.
Congratulation Growling Sidewinder, on getting the WWII World at War server up and running. I do meet the requirements, I just hope my ping will not be too high, I am out in Oceana and our internet is just enough to play DCS online, I am getting the Mosquito right now, or the beta of it, once it has done I can play. Great job on the videos sir, keep them coming.
Hey man thank you we might be changing the server to another machine in hopes of better ping/ connection so if you have issues with connection don’t lose hope yet.
Flying over german occupied france in a bright yellow mustang while somehow maintaining stealth mode requires ace level situational awareness and gigantic cajones.
The sound effect feels exactly the same as the one in il2 1946
Hate to run across you when you're out for blood. I love that livery, last time I saw that bee was on a 110, but with shooting like that, it suits you.
I would love to see some P-47 action. Can't decide if I should buy the P-51 or P-47. BTW Great work on the videos! Keep it going.
I always wonder how his eyes are so good! I can barely see the blob he identifies as a mustang
UA-cam compression.
4:30 drift king... sick pedal work
At 3:00 in I imagine them taking out their sidearms and taking potshots at each other. "You'll never reach the ground alive!" lol
1:35 there's no way the 109 would be flying after that.
Perhaps the spitfire pilot trying to take your kill realized he ran out of bullets so he rammed him. The second kill left me surprised you didn't blow up the 190.
I’m even surprised Pilot got out of the 190 I ripped across his cockpit with 50 cal pretty hard.
@@omerashraf9357 he has a few il2 videos
@@GrowlingSidewinder
They really need to look at the damage models of the WW2 stuff...
6 .50 cals shooting APIT/API should've ripped that 109 apart and/or set him afire with the MASSIVE dwell time and accurate gun rip you put into him.
That was a EPIC burst you hit him with.
And as I've pointed out - the same .50s are over performing on jets. The whole reason .50s were abandoned in jet combat was the huge amount of punishment russian jet fighters could take from 6 M3 . 50s (much higher fire rate than the M2) used by the F86 in Korea. So, I'm supposed to believe a Mig 15 can tank a bunch of .50 IRL but an A10 can't?!
A10 was designed to get lit up by 12.7mm DShKs all day long and keep truckin'
Oh, and WTF was that spit pilot thinking?!
@@stinkyfungusonly the the titanium tub around the pilot can shrug off 12.7mm and 23mm in reality... The flight controls are extremely redundant, Though the engines are incredibly vulnerable to small arms fire, Especially frontally.
One of these days i want to see you give the AAA some serious payback.
Could just hear everyone that was dogpiling that 109 at the end saying "mine, mine, mine, mine...".
Praise the god of entertainment for inventing the slow-motion-camera!
Can't wait to try this server. Love the channel map.
the 109 took more damage than the a-10 haha
That first kill, I wonder how many pilots died that exact way going home tired after a long mission and just get caught sleeping.
That P-51 looks like a Cheap good Samaritan Sherbet Lollie !
Igniting the guys leaking fuel over the airfield was a nice touch haha
The spitfire and the bf109 guy parachuting together: “At least the weather is nice” *awkward silence*
While in a Bright Yellow Mustang: Hopefully he won't see us exit.
That poor first 109 was hilarious XD
Day 7 of asking GS to do a versus video with the Viggen.
I thought viggen doesn't have gun
@@badgermcbadger1968 it doesnt, but i does have Fox 2s.
Spent pretty much the entire weekend on the GS ww2 server...its epic!!! Great work!! 👏 👍
You gave that fw190 pilot a new haircut
"That's a -109...and he doesn't see me..."
The Spit and the 109. . . Now it is Walther P-08 vs. Wesley Revolver.
I’m so impressed this looks breathtaking
@Growling Sidewinder I’m digging that paint scheme
Need more guys flying German. I logged in and it was like 12 allies and 3 109s so you end up with 3 spits on your tail.
Can you tell me pls how much ram do you need pls
That Spitfire pilot wanted to transfer to the Navy
Between the P-47 video yesterday and this video I'm wondering if there is some sort of modifier applied to the WW2 planes that makes them more survivable, because their durability seems a bit excessive
The P-47 makes sense, the 109 not so much.
@@Chopstorm. all that g10 30mm? No p47 does not make sense
Unless you hit a spar, flight controls, engine or Pilot, all other hits are just superficial and will only effect flight performance.
@@sule.A I'm going to assume you're talking about the Gau-8, and not the 109 G-10. It's AP ammo hitting the central fuselage. There's not a whole lot there to lose. P-47s have taken worse and made it back to base. You can easily find pictures of P-47s that made it back to base with holes big enough to fit a person through all along the central fuselage.
@@Chopstorm. p47 cant take that 3900rpm of pure 30mm at 1010m/S
Your poor kite took a real beating from that flak. Still pranged Jerry though. Good show!
How was the 1st ME109 still flying and why wasnt the pilot dead? Having been rammed by an insane or incompetent Spitfire pilot, I could imagine once they have splashed together, the Brit would have swum over to the Jerry and bludgeoned him to death with a Webley .38.
> One landing wheel hanging out, in a flat spin, firing at nothing.
> Gets strafed harder than anyone I've ever seen.

I think the BF-109 Pilot took the funny chocolate before takeoff to ‘enhance performance.’
Great paint on that P51!
I wonder if we will get a Lavochkin or Yakovlev fighter plane module
Absolutely love those shooting slow mo
It look like the load skins are hiding you in both the P-51 and BF 109.
Did the gear on that fw190 drop due to damage? Dcs must have a very intricate damage model.
That's awesome! I'd like to try dcs I just don't know if I have the patience to learn how to play.
Hope you'll include the Mossie when it's out, looking forward to some intruder action
Just imagining the British and German pilots shooting at eachother with their pistols as they parachute down

4:28 reminded me Yuichi Kanam'si death by Teacher in Sky Crawlers
Boy, do I like to see these second world war videos you are making!!!!
Love these vids with the old planes.
I picture the downed 109 & Spit pilots emptying their sidearm clips at each other as they drift gently down...
The server is coming along nicely. One bit of feedback I would offer, is don't make all the axis planes hot start 👍
I would have strafed that spitfire pilots chute...
The number of times you hit that first 109, in real life there’s no way he’s still flying after that.
That exact tactic was used by the Polish RAF pilots in the Battle of Britain. The Poles where filled with Insane hate for the Germans for what they did to Warsaw and Poland in 1939.
I reckon it was really awkward for that spitfire and 109 pilot landing side by side in the channel as they await rescue.
i cant tell if its the damage model or the flightmodel of the 109s that seems completely off. they are flying way to well for the sheer number of holes in their plane
now this looks way more fun then the jets.
If that wasn't a "gimmie" opportunity, idk what was.
Lmao the spitfire ram was karma
I can only stress again that this game is badly in need of P-38s! >8^)
Love the P51 content. Want more for sure.
Great rudder correction on the 190.
How about classic American WWII fighter planes like the P51, P38, and P47 against each other in dogfights?
I love the server but its a little taxing for my VR for now.
ya its a pretty big mission
4:34 how did the pilot survive all of those 50. Cal shots to the cockpit
I'm loving the WW2 content so much! I only wish you'd fly the Jug more often :(
wow the planes sound better in DCS than IL-2... should give it a try
My dad was a P51D fighter pilot in WW2 against the Japanese. He would have been interested in this.
You mulched that cockpit on the fw 190
Those pilots, on their way floating down from the mid air collision are like:
Brtish: you bloody kidding me!
German: ja, ist goerhing to be a über zwim!
British: now we're both gonna drown out at sea you swein!
