it was a splice, you could see it goin' off the spool, best is to spice some braid in that's heavier than the mainline, then the mono, this way you get the max strenth you can possibly get, every bit matters in this style of fishin'!
That most have been a monster no less then a 15ft shark. I hooked into and fought 11 ft great white. The fight last for about an hour and fourthly five min. It was using a makaira 15 special edition two speed. It was like trying to stop a train.
@@romeogarcia8448 what's that supposed to mean? The Makairas are one of the best built reels out there! The Tiagras internals are garbage. The Makaira 15 generates as much drag as a Tiagra 30. It's actually insane how powerful they are. The 17-4 heat treated gears offer insane torque. I've fished Talicas, Avet raptors, Accurate Dauntless/Valiants, and I can tell you that almost nothing matches this reel. My Talicas were horrible! They offered barely any torque, there anodizing is absolutely garbage and my friends even had some corroding. I now only fish Accurate Dauntless and makairas. I have a dauntless 400, 600 and Makaira 15, 20 and getting a 15t. There the best reels out there. Penn is close too them if not right with them.

this guy is new to shark fishing you can tell he should have had that Reel spooled with 2/3 of 200 lb braid and one third of 200 lb Topshop mono and he should have had that drag lockdown as much as he could hold without it pulling him in and he would have landed that fish and for everyone want to know he did not land that fish

that ain't a tiger, not in cold water and I can't imagine a tiger run that fast, a record size bull would be more likely, but still they usually take it way slower, my best guess would be a big hammer, most common, especially in january if you were in the south, if not a big mako or a white are about the only thing I know that could live in ANY the north states waters at wintertime, eat a sharkbait and run like this! of course makos and whites also live in the south and could be it just as well, but especially in Florida hammers are WAY more common.

Or a 17" 3400 lb great white like Frank Munday caught in 1985 (boat). My Penn 14/0 has 300 yd 130# mono and 1000 yd of 130# braid, and the 18" female great whites (many) have been sampling bite the swimmers, surfers and divers in west coast water, after they lay pups. A 30# bat ray drifted by a float from shore, is a perfect snack for those monsters. Come to spool me !!!!
