    I’m not buying any shark ran that hard, that long, and that smoothly at 65 pounds of drag. And you wouldn’t be that calm if one actually did. I’m guessing someone put there presets down low on this reel.

    Lets be honest, on 130 lb gear, runs like this don’t happen everyday. That was a BIG fish!

    that ain't a tiger, not in cold water and I can't imagine a tiger run that fast, a record size bull would be more likely, but still they usually take it way slower, my best guess would be a big hammer, most common, especially in january if you were in the south, if not a big mako or a white are about the only thing I know that could live in ANY the north states waters at wintertime, eat a sharkbait and run like this! of course makos and whites also live in the south and could be it just as well, but especially in Florida hammers are WAY more common.

    0:59 listen closely you'll hear 1/6th of a mile of line emit a harmonic echo from the connection knot passing though the guides. unreal

    What knots were connecting the braid to the mono?

    • @maxschmidt9461
      @maxschmidt9461 2 роки тому

      it was a splice, you could see it goin' off the spool, best is to spice some braid in that's heavier than the mainline, then the mono, this way you get the max strenth you can possibly get, every bit matters in this style of fishin'!

      @@offshoreadventures8262 I doubt it was a great white, they dont run too much they just use their weight against you. Probably a big mako

    • @offshoreadventures8262
      @offshoreadventures8262 5 років тому

      matt c could be, but makos make blistering runs. This was heavy and had a pretty steady run, I think it got in the current towards the end..

    500 yd of 130# mono + 1100 yd of 130# Braid, all spooled?? At 60-70 lb drag, Hmmmm. It could be a 18" 2000 lb tiger like the one Maxwell lost in June 1964 (land). Or a 17" 3400 lb great white like Frank Munday caught in 1985 (boat). My Penn 14/0 has 300 yd 130# mono and 1000 yd of 130# braid, and the 18" female great whites (many) have been sampling bite the swimmers, surfers and divers in west coast water, after they lay pups. A 30# bat ray drifted by a float from shore, is a perfect snack for those monsters. Come to spool me !!!!

    Why wait so long to lock it up

    • @offshoreadventures8262
      @offshoreadventures8262 5 років тому

      JASON HANSEN because if you lock it down it will stretch the mono and weaken it, so I waited as long as I could. I only had 130lb not 200lb. And the drag increases as the line decreases.
