Great video. follow up question, about to replace motor but afraid the fluid might need replacing to our sometimes cause their was rust along the black tube coming from motor and rust on the tip of where the wiper connects with the motor. How do u replace fluid?
those wee tools are actually great ,,, just taken the rear wiper arm off my 2004 a3 , it was the tightest ive ever taken off , and thats with forty years in the motor trade i thought i was going to have to cut it off .
ah another tip , well word of wisdom , the wiper motor and arm is exactly the same as the 5 door sports back one , we got a crashed one in , and i used the assembly from it , may be easier found in a scrap yard.
@@tomthompson7400 yep they are the same on 5 door. I mean I don't know about scrap yard .. as new unit on eBay is only £20. I think it's not a bed price.
can you please show how you removed cover to reveal the viper motor? I have ween some videos where they show two screws, but my car does not have those.
I have same Audi I purchased an aftermarket motor for it but the wiper arm will not move but it tries to move unless I lift it off the back window and it will spin , can you help please
Hello there. The panel will be quiet tight on there... You need to pry it with plastic tool on one corner to start with. It's quiet hard metal clips holding it in. They are release clips... Unless someone already done on your car before and glued it on... Had that before -.-
Just wanted to add something for all my fellow VAG sufferers. The reciprocating seal where the black plastic water inlet housing meets the end of the hollow shaft wears out and fails [terrible design that was always going to fail]. The water under pressure then fills up the unit , emulsifies the grease and starts rusting any steel. The electrical contacts short hence the first sign of problems often being that the wiper develops a life of it's own. Ironically, that gasket keeps the water in! [By the way, if the water does leak out, it could drip down on the lock electrics and kill that too. If you've started noticing the odd drip when you open the hatch, it's time to investigate.] A cheap replacement unit may well quickly fail again for the same reason, as will a VAG unit although it'll probably take a lot longer being better quality [but still a terrible design]. It sounds like madness I know but the only long term fix is to carefully fit a separate washer jet through the boot lid and modify/attach the water pipe to that. You'll be completely bypassing the motor so no more water in it, whether you've refurbed the original or bought a new one. Just be careful about painting and sealing the hole in the body you've drilled before fitting the new jet or it'll rust really quickly. Some insulation around the new pipe will help avoid freezing in cold weather. Only to be tackled by the competent, it'll cost you around a tenner but it's not for the faint hearted!
Hi there Alex Great video regarding the rear wiper.😊😊😊😊😊😊I have just purchased an A3 1.9Tdi on an 09 plateAs stated regarding requests. Can you please make video on how to remove the front fog lights. From what I can gather it look like you have to remove all the front bumper 😢😢😢😢😢😢I look forward to the videoTony
hello there. Yes i will try and do it soon and will post it on here. But im pretty sure that black plastic covers come off around fog lights and then there is 4 screws holding it in.. will double check it for you
I’ve got washer noise but no fluid or rear wiper movement. For such a prestigious manufacturer this really is an annoying and niggly reoccurring problem. Grrrrr.
Thanks Alex. A really good, clear instructional video. I'm about to do the same job on my wife's car and this will help immensely.
Awesome 👌 u are welcome 😀
He didn't show anything, just explained what he had done. Shocking video.
Thank you.
Some people appreciate that actually.

Yeah it's an amazing tool. Bit of wd40 and that tool and if tight a bit of hammer tapping :)
i used a 4lb lump hammer ,,, a bit of tapping is a grave understatement
@@tomthompson7400 oh haha. Well you got there in the end?

Very helpful. Thank you.
You are welcome 😀
I fixed my rear wiper by removing it completely and installing a wiper delete kit, so much cheaper and wont ever break again
That's another way I suppose.
Is this easy for a girl to do lol
Yes I sure you will be fine with that. The only awkward bit is the boot cover removal
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne Ok , thank you 👍
No problems. Let us know how you get on.
You can wiggle it off, you don't need a tool... also use WD-40
How did you take off the rear view window panel? I'm trying to install a rear dash cam and can't seem to pry it off.

Yep.that happens unfortunately. That is your nosle that is blocked or u have got a split in the pipe somewhere
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I’ve cleared before with an air gun, but again it’s blocked. Second time. I also need the stopped wiper investigating. 😔
