Get 15% off your Carly purchase with code "Highpeak24" (auto-applied) when you click: bit.ly/Carly_HPA Carly's scanner and free version of the app with standard OBD features are compatible with cars that have an OBD2 port. To see if Carly's advanced features - like coding or manufacturer-level diagnostics - should work with your car, make sure to check out their website. To access these additional features, you'll need to get their yearly license.

Had an 04 3 door 1.6 petrol for 8 years, bought it at 8 years old and kept it til it was 16 years old, absolutely loved it. So well put together especially the interior, lovely gearbox, the dual climate control was great on a small car of that age, very rare back then. Such a comfortable and pleasant car to drive. Wish I'd kept it.

Welcome to the club Matt. Exactly the same as my runaround car. Thats not an S-Line though. Its a Sport like mine, someones stuck an S-Line badge on the grill.
Sport was just below S-Line so they actually weren’t miles apart spec wise. You still got the hugging sports seats but without s-line written on them, main difference was S-line would have had slightly more agressive front and rear bumpers
Mine is on a 57 plate and is Identical to yours spec wise (minus leather I just have cloth, and the 2.0TDI, I have the very last of the non DPF 1.9TDI’s before the 1.6 TDI’s came in).
I’ve got only 117k on mine and have owned it since 2021. The aircon still blows stone cold and it still has that Audi smell they all had from that era. Call me biased but its a great run-around / second car

Audi were doing a finance deal which meant the A3 cost me less a month than I was spending maintaining my old Vectra! It was only a 1.6 petrol so was a bit slow but was a Technik edition so had Bose stereo and bigger wheels. It's really a good car for about 1500 quid, however i think it would be even less hot in there with no leather seats, and also more modern with the cruise control. Also being a 2008 model,if it's the 140hp ha the bmn code engine, that has no head issues as the bkd engine code. My dad has one identical to this with about 253.000 miles on the clock (about 407.000km here in Italy) and it goes really well: he uses it for word every day and the car never stopped since day one. It has original clutch, suspension and 16 wheels cause 17 are too stiff for our road. The only issue it the car roof that has to be repeared.

5th gear done the test a few years ago. It is much much better to have more worn out tyres on the front. If front loooses grip it is fairly easy to correct. If back swings - not so much. They have trested in the rain on the bend. I agree with them.

Problem with Carly is their flaky support and that the one I have doesn’t support most common functions on my low mileage 2013 Golf GT.
Things like programming a new battery, pretty basic stuff. They did give a partial refund but I’m still left with with an expensive plastic box. They don’t give online refunds at all for the purchase as they are in Germany

A friend of mine recently had an aircon issue with an A4 2.0 tdi and it turned out to be a leaky sensor. New sensor and a regas and Bob's your uncle.
Might check it out on that A3, if it's a cheap fix it's always worth doing, especially if you're borrowing the car to customers or are considering selling the car at a later date.

I have the next model A3 1.4 petrol COD motor with S Tronic bought new in 2014 and it has been a great car. Economical, a lovely drive and a quality interior, better than the current model which has had some cost cutting. I also had a Mk4 Golf GTI Manual which was also a great car, often criticised when compared to the Mk 5, but totally reliable and an interior where VW had really lifted their game.

I can certainly see the benefit having something fairly smart-looking when turning up to collect cars. It's those little bits of professional presentation that really make a reputation, at least in my mind. And even though it's old, that A3 is perfect for that role.
The wheels really lift the whole car, so much better than the dirty black look, definitely worth the money.

I’ve got myself an A3 2.0Tdi from 2011 with 105000 miles - honestly tight as a drum, I’ve had an A4 and and A5 in the past with the 3.0L Tdi engine and they were superb, although I could afford the running costs of the 3L’s I couldn’t justify the tax for the luxury of having a 3L. Anyway I drove my partner’s 2.0 tdi Seat Leon and I was impressed with the performance / economy balance and the £35 tax/year so got myself the A3 and it’s been my favourite Audi so far, love getting around town 55-60 mpg and on the motorway 70+ mpg. They really are such good cars ( IF THEY’VE BEEN LOOKED AFTER!!) Glad you rescued this one, love the videos 👍🏻. Just one point: What’s wrong with one of the best all time bands?? Even though it's already a common rail, that motor sounds very similar to the injector-pumps I had... I'm off, I have old playlists to listen to now very urgently.

Had one of these, the older 2006 140bhp 2.0 TDI version. Car was well built, doors were heavy. Around town I’d get around 30ish mpg but on the motorway between 45-50mpg. I had the base SE trim and the seats weren’t that comfortable.
