- Just 2 ingredients to easy organic homemade lip balm/chapstick. No need for any fancy equipment.

Ingredients:
1 part organic beeswax {for example, .50 oz}
2 parts organic coconut oil {for example, 1.00 oz}
Optional: essential oils, honey, beet root/hibiscus powder, etc.
Instructions:
Use dedicated materials for all the following.
Grate the beeswax.
Melt the wax low and slow in a double boiler or in a heat proof vessel in the microwave. Use a vessel with a spout like a measuring cup. Heat until just melted, no more.
Stir in the oil.
Wait 5-10 seconds to stir in the optional add-ins if using.
Carefully pour into desired containers and allow to set for 30 minutes.
Notes
About .10 oz wax to .20 oz oil yields one tube.
Mine last for about a year when stored in a jar in a dark, cool place.
Steer away from camphor or menthol as they dry out the lips.

Burt's bees gave me bad allergies where my lips were dry like the Sahara desert and was bleeding. It took me 3 weeks to heal. Nivea is the only brand in trust. Gonna try this homemade lip balm

Tried this today. Very quick and easy! Next time I will adjust the ratio to have less coconut oil as I like a waxier lip balm. I used the leftover for a hand cream. Great!

The Divine Hostess I'm a self professed lip balm addict and this homemade version really takes the burn off my wallet, for sure.
EOS has been my favorite lip balm but for some reason I recently became allergic to it and it just burns my lips like crazy. I'm going to have to give this a try to see if a more natural option doesn't burn like the others do.

Quick tip, can use an old medicine dropper to pour your liquid into the tubes. Much easier with less risk of burn. Also Amazon offers blank tubes and a rack to hold them if doing multiples. :-)

can you use any beeswax like Murray's 100% pure Australian beeswax?
Hi, Antonio! I'm not familiar with that brand but as long as it only has the one ingredient in it, it will work. I like to use the highest grade I can get my hands on. The link for one is in the description box below this video. My first choice is to support local beekeepers and ask if they have an extra to spare.

Hi, Catherine. It depends on what temperature you keep it. I live in a fairly hot and humid environment and I keep mine in a dark, cool place for 6-12 months. You can also add in stabilizing essential oils like rosemary if you're extra concerned about it =)

I'm a bee keeper and have a lot of wax. I'm going to try this. I got the containers now I just need to get some coconut oil. You mentioned Natural tinting..... how do you do that? Also, I was thinking of some lemon drops from essential oils..... is that okay or should I use real lemons to give it a nice aroma and fresh feeling on your lips.

+Janice Totten hello!! you know, you could use tins or pots. they are a lot easier to work with and if you are set on using tubes, use DISPOSABLE plastic pipetts. I want to make a lip balm too, and I know it sounds messy and hard but from what I've seen and read, it's not hard and less messy if you listen to tips that people give you for making lip balm. have a wonderful day!!

It depends on a variety of factors but for me in the tropics, I only need to reapply every couple of hours. I recently used it in Colorado and it definitely helped heal chapped lips 👍💋

Hi, Sara. Olive oil should work but I would highly recommend making just the tiniest amount and pouring a penny size onto some wax/parchment to see how it sets up since I have not tested this recipe with these proportions.
