Lips can easily become dry, chapped and damaged during the cold winter months so using a moisturizing, long lasting lip balm is essential! But there’s no need to break the bank, or rely on commercial brands that can have harsh and irritating ingredients. Simply follow the steps in this easy natural lip balm to protect your lips throughout all the seasons.
In this video, not only do I show you how to make a basic lip balm recipe, but I also breakdown the difference between Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter.
I make this organic lip balm using the exact same ingredients, but swapping our shea butter for cocoa butter so you can see how the properties of each butter affect the final lip balm!
Not only is this homemade lip balm incredibly simple to make but it’s also completely vegan! Instead of using beeswax, I’m doubling down on the almondy goodness by using an all natural Almond wax. So this DIY natural lip balm without beeswax is also a vegan lip balm recipe.
You can easily substitute almond wax for any other beeswax alternative that you have available!
Natural Lip Balm Recipe:
• 25g Almond Oil
• 15g Cocoa Butter / Shea Butter (or any solid oil of choice)
• 20g Almond Wax (or any beeswax alternative)
• 1g Vitamin E Oil (or any Antioxidant of choice)
• 10 drops Essential Oil (Optional Fragrance - I use lavender & vanilla)

I made this lip balm few months back in the winter and I love it! It glides on perfectly and keeps my lip ever so smooth, has a slight glossy sheen to it which I love. I still have quite a lot left, should last a few more months probably. And so soooo much better than pricey store bought ones. Simple and easy to follow, thanks for your amazing recipe Elise ❤

I generally add both coco N Shea butter
When I was a kid I remember Avon use to make a little perfume that was in a fun container and it was almost like a lotion but it had a perfume smell I want to make something like that you can pop in your purse and touch up as needed

Also here is a suggestion for u, please tell the correct time to add things ie essential oils are always added when the mixture is little bit cold, but found this information missing. Little- little things have to be taken in loop as without it ,all your elaboration will hold no value. Thank u once again for the knowledge shared.👏

Thank you for this!! I made my own formula and used Beeswax (cause I already had it-thanks for letting me know about the Almond alternative!), cocoa butter plus a bit of coconut oil and sunflower oil, plus some drops of peppermint and it turned amazing!
I just wanted to ask how you usually clean out your tubes? Maybe u can share a how to video too? Cause I am having trouble cleaning tubes similar to the one you have!

Love this video! It's really confusing with ingredients sometimes what's the right thing to use. Is it better to use refined or unrefined Cocoa butter? And if i wanted to use this recipe to make a cinnamon lip balm, what else would I need to add? Would the chocolatey smell of coco's butter go well with cinnamon?

Leucidal liquid and preservative eco are not availible in my country so what else can i use? Can I use sodium benzoate?

Hi Rosabella, thank you! Almond wax should be available from online soap-making stores, but if you can't find it. Candelilla Wax is a more popular vegan alternative. And yes it's fine to use a preservative buy you'll need to add an emulsifier if your preservative is water-based 😊
