    Best thing I've found for arthritis is eliminate all the inflammatory stuff from the diet (sugar, flour, certain oils, processed foods - pretty much switched to carnivore for 60 days then omnivore after that), drink bone broth, collagen peptides in my coffee. I once could barely walk in the morning when I got out of bed, knew in my joints the weather was changing well in advance, now I have no arthritic pain, can hike and bike with ease. Feels like I rolled back the clock 30+ years. It's awesome to be able to move freely and have no pain. 😊

      Ditto. Quit sugar, cheap flours. Got saliva pH up to neutral where it belongs. When pH was low -fresh lemon juice cut with water popped pH up for me, (no metabolic disease here). No need to leech calcium out of my bones to neutralize uric acid! Drs act like they don’t understand what causes osteoarthritis? Uric acid can turn into painful shards. Once I saw a picture of my arthritis from an operation the ‘depositing’ was obvious.

    I tried Curcumin and found initially it was good, but I have a underlying allergy to it and started breaking out in rashes...Not nice.

    I’ve been taking glucosamine and chondroitin form a few months now. It seems to have helped unless I’ve been sitting for a long time with my knee bent. And also getting up in the morning, it take 10 to 15 steps to get loosened up. But, just moving is much better. Also, I do a lot of cycling, that also has been better. I will be trying the other supplements. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    I use all three of these. The turmeric is in the whole foods form. I grate it fine and heat with black pepper and ginger freshly grated. Add chicken broth and gelatin. Usually red pepper and garlic is in there. A savory tea. The only place i have trouble is in my spine where I fractured 5 vertebrae and compressed the discs between. I take Arnica Montana when I have to stand over the sink or stove for extended periods of time. Maybe once a week. I am 63. My work involves almost total sitting. Not good for the body.

Every night 3 hours into sleep I wake up screaming in pain, try to reposition my legs and knees, sometimes I get lucky and go back to sleep for a short time. My ex-doctor told me to take ibuprofen "It's safe and you can take all you want, almost like candy". I’m 65, outside sports all my life.
    I just started limping from hip pain.
    I live in Thailand, and there are many Chinese herbal shops.
    I think I’ll pop in, also acupuncture is widely used.
    Great video 🙏

    Glucosamine/Chondroitin seems to work for me but it has to be religiously taken on a daily basis. It took about two months for a difference to be seen. My knee movement has improved and little to no aches now. Rest and proper exercise is also a must. Nothing will magically make AU go away but if can be made an acceptable condition to live with I'll go that route.

    One of the things that Dr. Peng doesn't mention about curcumin is it's poor bioavailablity. If you're going to take a curcumin product you should take one which has relatively high bioavailablitiy. Three different formulations of curcumin have this higher bioavailability: Longvida curcumin, Meriva curcumin, and Curowhite curcumin.

    Hey Jeff. You've evaluated the evidence for supplements symptom (pain) modification for OA that is already established... but I'm a younger person with an very strong family history of early osteoarthritis & already have OA signs & symptoms (confirmed by my family doc). I'd love to see a video analyzing any supplements that could delay or slow the onset of OA! People would love to know if there are any supplements that can actually SLOW THE LOSS OF CARTILAGE rather than just reduce pain & improve symptoms!

    • @JeffreyPengMD
      @JeffreyPengMD  8 місяців тому +10

      Unfortunately these studies do not exist! The best available evidence to slow the progression of arthritis is to focus on overall health, especially when it comes to metabolic health.

    I take and give my elderly cats, glucosamine + Chondroitin . I take 1000mg and 1200mg with MSM 300mg. I give my cats a quarter of my capsule each. I looked up a feline supplement and noted 250 mg + 300mg + 300mg. Works out about 1/4 of a capsule. I mix it in a tube type treat you buy at the supermarket. Cats are more active and now climb up onto the couch and bed. I take 2 capsules a day but could make it twice a day. I’m going to add turmeric to my regimen.

    I've been taking Glucosamine & Chondroitin (& MSM added in a few years after beginning) for 25 years now. I've stopped taking them several times with stultifying results: I began hobbling, couldn't walk properly and had pain. I'm 66, can run upstairs and I sit cross-legged all day (am cross-legged now, as I write this). So, for me, this combination ABSOLUTELY works. (I'm so grateful!!!)

    I’m having trouble following your dosing recommendation for BS. Maybe the issue is with the top listings on Amazon but all BS extracts are 800-3250mg… can’t find anything in the 100-250mg range.
    Anyway, thank you for this video. Your other videos too, especially PRP and other ortho biologicals. As a precautious and wary person, I find my dr’s attitude towards PTOA (I suffered an ankle pilon when I was 25) worrying and your energy is a breath of fresh air!

    • @JeffreyPengMD
      @JeffreyPengMD  8 місяців тому +4

      My guess is you're seeing the resin dosing rather than the extract. Find a supplement that is NSF or USP certified (some example links in the video description) and then follow the manufacturer dosing recommendation.

      @@JeffreyPengMD thank you very much for the reply doctor! I got all 3, I was familiar with the brand so it was a no brainer. Based on your recommendations, I am doing the following dosing daily:

      2. Curcumin 1000mg ; 2 capsules - 1000mg (total)
