    as I mention towards the end - All brands make their own version of these products and the names are the same. So if Redken is not available to you, there are other options but like I've said a million times before, I do find that Redken gives hands down the best results and its the brand I have always chosen to work with at my salon.
    If you're covering greys at home - I honestly think your best solution is using eSalon - as I've mentioned in the past, their system is incredible for that: bit.ly/2aHruqR

      Have you done an episode on over the counter hair colors (permanent & temporary) and the different brands that someone can get from a local drug store/general store (Walgreens/Alberston's/etc.) that you would recommend? Where I live it is very expensive to have hair color done in a salon and some of my friends live hours away from town but still want to try different colors. Thanks for the help. Love your videos.

    Thank you for addressing gray hair coverage. So funny because I was going to ask you if you could do more videos on over 50 to 100 percent gray. I have always been able to diy my hair since I was a teen but now at 54 and about 75 percent gray and resistant white around my face and ears it's been a challenge. Thank you! Love watching your videos!

    I've really come to trust your advise on all things hair related, Sylvia. I hope you can do a similar video on how to banish red-toned hair on brunettes, with a video describing and demonstrating the same as above, but just an easy brunette transition from red/brassy brown to a more neutral to ash brown look (without it looking so blond). Thanks! :)

    I have a neutral light/medium brown natural root with medium / light blonde, balayage, to my mid back, all one length length hair. It’s just my jam- “surfer chick/ hippie/ boho vibes”. It’s low maintenance and it’s what my hair has always naturally been. Plus, I am actually a surfer and my clothing is very hippie / bohemian style. I always go back to this hair stay,e & color. It just feels like home. I’m on chemo now, (4th time in 27 yrs), and my stylist (who is also a good friend of mine for over 25 yrs), has been thru it ALL with my hair issues for 25 yrs. I won’t let anyone else touch it! I love & trust her💯. My issue is: she went out on her own from her longtime salon & opened her own salon, which RULEZ!! BUT…. We’ve always used Redken products on my hair (which is very similar to ur hair in texture, length & color). My hair just loves Redken. Problem: Since opening her own amazing salon, she switched to Paul Mitchell & recently added Amika. I ♥️ Amika home products, so I’m stoked on using Amika shampoo, conditioner & masks, at home. But, I still prefer Redken to PaulMitchell, when getting any salon work done, like color, gloss, toning, etc. My question for you is: Is it rude if I go buy all the correct Redken supplies I need at Sally’s, (let her know ahead of time), & ask her to use them for all my salon color, hair treatments, etc, that she does in her salon? She is an expert with all Redken products and has always used them on me, before choosing to go with PaulMitchell. I don’t know why?? But- my hair just doesn’t like PM. 🤷🏼‍♀️ TIA- if u find the time to shoot me a quick & easy reply. I definitely don’t wanna upset or offend her. She has helped me & saved my hair more times than I can count. I definitely don’t wanna lose her as my stylist OR my friend!! Let me know what u think, when u have the time. Thank you! I always use ur UA-cam tutorials, esp with color, since my hair is so similar to urs, both my natural root color and the length, texture & balayage style. Anyway, Thank you for ur amazing UA-cam videos. Take care. Hope to ttyl ✌🏼😊🩵🪬

      any box dye that has ash in it
      first try to rinse your hair with a very small amount of dark blue (any dark blue box dye) and 20 % vol developper and aloot of shampoo leave it in your hair for 2 minutes or less and rinse it .let your hair rest for a day and then dye it with 6.1 or 6.11 of any brand (6.11 well tone the hell out of it trust me )

    The orange to blonde color correction you did looks amazing! I have a few questions if you can answer that would be great! So did you bleach the hair and then apply the redken combination? Secondly instead of the 8na+6na, can I mix equal portions of 8n, 8a ,6n, and 6a to get the same result as the 8na+6na combination? And lastly, do you recommend toning the hair afterwards or leaving this as is.
    Thank you so much!

    Hi. I have dark brown hair (4n) and merlot byalage. I know in a few weeks the brassyness will appear despite best efforts (sulfate free products). No one has any videos on toning that out to get the vibrant color back. Looking at the color wheel, I think I am supposed to go with green to neutralize the brassy color. Can you do a video on that. Everyone is doing BLONDE but us brunettes need help too!

    • @alisarose1407
      @alisarose1407 6 років тому +5

      Agreed. I think Im supposed to be using a blue toner. I'm a 2 or 3 because of ease but it's stark against my pale skin. I love the feel of black with my Bob but I wish I could ash out at a bit lighter. I've done this a million times and every time I lift a level or two, it reads orangey. If I found the right toner, I'd be thrilled. I'm just gonna go to Sally's and buy a blue toner. It's opposite on the color wheel so in theory it should work. If you have a ton of actual red and want to cancel it out, I would think green or even teal if you're also brassy.

    • @bayareababe
      @bayareababe 3 роки тому

      @@alisarose1407 y’all obviously didn’t listen to a word she said in this video. Allow me to help you out. In order to correct orange hair in brunette a toner will not work. You need to get a full pigmented permanent color (6NA +6NN) or 7NN. A toner is only going to work for hair that’s about a level 8 and higher. Hope that helps.

I thought it was the bleach and toner causing damage, but I now I'm pretty sure it was the everyday ponytail and poor quality rubber bands. Lately when touching up my roots only leaving the color on with a shower cap and waiting about an hour. I notice brassieness. I am very confused why since I am only applying a demi. I then waited about 5 days and bought the Wella demi in the ash blonde used the recommended cream activator 1to 2 ratio again and once again brassieness. Not sure what the to do to get the color without the brassieness mext time and what do you suggest I do to fix the problem? Thanks! I have been a fan since forever now!

    On the first case you mention, why not use a 7na instead of mixing the 6na and the 8na? What would be the difference?

      I believe there is no 7NA. Mixing equal parts of 8NA and 6NA make a 7NA.

    I have been watching your videos I am about 80% grey I have had used medium brown and finally decided I want to go really light so that I can stop the coloring. I bleached my hair it did get brassy, i tried a medium ash even a light ash and had some change. Between some gold blonde still a little brass.
    I just don’t want to go darker because of my grey hair.
    Any suggestion, I did it myself because I have been to salons and end up in the same boat.
    I guess what I am trying to do is getting as close to my grey as possible, so that it can blend with my grey and I don’t have to color my hair often as when I had my dark hair. Which I had to do my greys every 3 weeks.
    Thank you

    Always enjoy your videos! Do the double pigments in Color Fusion give you darker results? I have been using Schwarzkopf for many years and their double pigments deposit darker than what you would expect from the level on the tube. I am trying to get away from Schwarzkopf and would like to get as many tips on the Redken line as possible. Thank you!!

    I am a professional colorist and I struggle with the gels for vibrant red. I have a client who wants that mahogany color what do yiu mix she is a level 5-6 with on her outgrown root area ends are foiled with different levels to give movement but it always seems dull. After about 2 weeks. Thanks for any advice

  • @mlaine2

    Ok, stupid question since I am not a professional. Would 7NN be something like a light brown or dark blonde? I’m looking for a very cool light brown. Nothing fancy. I just used 5A and it’s a bit too dark. It looks more like a medium brown. Like the coverage. Not redken brand though.
    Thanks for your videos

      madelainem2 what brand do you use? I'm not a professional but I have experience doing my own hair, I use 7A to blend my light brown/dark blonde roots so I'd say a level 6 is a light to medium brown, but keep in mind every brand's level and toning system is slightly different
