im pretty sure the point of all the grenade perks are to let you utilize your grenades while using two action skills. not sure how a "zane expert" didnt know this.
You can't manually toss them out so you lose control over when they get deployed.
@@aaronsampson1126 that has nothing to do with what i was talking about. the video says you should only choose one action skill because you lose the ability to throw your grenades and zane has a bunch of grenade related perks. but all of those perks are designed to let you make use of your grenades and grenade mods while also having two action skills. yes you cant manually throw them but all of zanes grenade related perks still function even if you have two action skills equiped.

Both of those action skills allows both the SNTNL and the clone to throw grenades, in your place
Using the drone & clone combo is honestly extremely good because Zane becomes incredibly powerful at mobbing plus boss dps if you spec correctly

Well the reason the digi-clone tree is about grenades is because the clone can eat them up to become stronger and stay active longer. So it is actually good to have two abilities and to let your clone use your grenades as protein bars to do more damage, have more health and etc.
Y'all play however you feel like playing. Take these "tips" with a grain of salt. If for some reason they advise against playing a certain way that you really want to play... PLAY IT! I totally agree, I play Zane with my clone and drone build where I just Sprint in with a shotgun and a Jacobs revolver.

Are you lot actually just against the whole fact that borderlands 3 is supposed to be based around character customization in terms of actual gameplay? Don’t listen to these guys when they say not to do something or that the sentinel is meant to “flush out” opponents. Seriously you guys?
These are just our experiences running a Digi-Clone build. You should absolutely play how you want and then tell us all about it.
I have literally never used sntnl to flush out enemies. If anything it's great for when you're surrounded by enemies.

Zane is actually insane.
I'm only Level 28 as of now, went for fully shield build and all on cryo damage.
Whenever I freeze an enemy (which happens at almost EVERY enemy because of my classmod and ice smg's) my Action Skill gets instantly ready.
That means, having a shield around me (when pressing L1 again) + a drone as well, I'm invincible when facing 20 or even more enemies.
Infinite shield and insane fun
Also, when I freeze an enemy while my shield and drone ist out, the timer of those gets reset and just keeps going.
That's the most fun I've ever had with him and reminds me of Salvador's infinite gunzerking mode
thats the reason why i picked zane, i wanted to play with 2 abilities... i have the shield and SNTNL and it works just fine imo
"use cov guns because you don't need to reload" - whole point of duct tape perk is to reload as much as poss to fire those grenades...

Doesn’t the grenade perks for clone use the equipped grenade mod regardless of you replacing the grenade or not? Thought someone made a broken build that basically has your clone and sentinel using grenades ridiculously
That's what I thought too, that's what it says in game I'm pretty sure lol. I don't understand why anyone would choose Zane and not use 2 abilities? I thought that was for everyone I guess I just got lucky
Hayden Rucinski I’m pretty sure it works like we think, otherwise the developers shot themselves in the foot because why on earth would you give the capability for 2 action skills but force everyone to use the same 2 skills since the one skill revolves around the grenade you got rid of... that just doesn’t add up to me

Yeah for sure it works the way you think multiple skills allow your actions skills to drop the grenade mods without you actually have enough throw them yourself these guys don't know what they're talkin about early game it might be better to take one action skill but late game when you can spec into those skills it's definitely a lot better

PSA FOR ANYONE WHO ACTUALLY WANTS TO PLAY ZANE:
Dont listen to anything this guy says - he literally says you cant take 2 action skills and use grenade perks in your build. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. Your talents and your character can still hold and use grenades even with 2 skills equipped. It is BETTER to not have grenades equipped as they are are automatically incorporated into your abilities - couple this with his kill skill that regens grenades and you essentially have 2 awesome skills that have grenades baked in, and when you get kills, you get your auto baked grenades back automatically - ITS FREE REAL ESTATE.
You keep it simple and to the point not necessary to have a 30 minute video thanks!

Don’t the clone and sentinel still use the grenade in the slot even when you use two abilities?
Michael Carr that’s what I wanna know, the earlier skill abilities say it throws a Grenade with whatever Grenades mod you have, that perk ‘ Boom. Enhance.’ Says that it takes up to 1-3 Grenades to activate it .. so idk if you still have 3 grenades in your slot that you can’t use??

Michael Carr the people who made this video had no idea what they were talking about, level 33 Zane here who used 2 action skills the entire playthrough so far and has tons of grenades go off every fight.

Lv. 47 zane here, never used the shield, always been using clone and drone. With loads of BOOMS
I started with sentinal and it is a great if you enable cryo and chance to drop grenade skill. extremely helpful to kill enemies on low health while you reload in cover.
I picked Zane as my first character. I started using the clone but decided to switch to a drone/shield combo.
Have 10 enemies all shooting at you ? Throw down the shield. Need a quick distraction while u reload? Throw down your drone. Want to cause massive damage? Shield+torgue shotgun+ radiation perk for the drone= red mist.
"best way to play zane" - literally didn't mention any of the insane kill skill stacks, would have been better off interviewing yer nan...
I don't know how these are great advice for Zane seeing how you can pick 2 action skills and give up your grenades and still be using your grenade mod since there is action skills that allows you to use your grenade mods with your action skills without actually having to throw them yourself which is this video made it seem like if you pick two actions kill you cannot use your grenade mod so if I'm wrong on that maybe you should clarify a little better for the people that don't know what you're talkin about
Has more to do with taking full advantage of Digi-Clone which is all about grenades. If you branch out too early you can't take full advantage of that tree. However, there are so many different ways to play Zane and you should explore to find what you enjoy.
Drone and Barrier combo is like playing as a juggernaut as your running super fast while also being basically invincible

im currently playing zane on my first solo playthrough and i use sntnl and digi-clone, i love it
The best way to play Zane is to take barrier and digi clone, then upgrade digi clone tree first so you can give your clone a copy of your weapon which means that your damage is doubled+25% from barrier+over 65% from your abilities+additional 60% for your clone via grenade consumtions, and most important - you have 2 abilities to save yourself with low cd. If player will play correctly with Zane, the only enemy that can kill him its either a bugs or some source of immediately death such as abysses.
This is the build I'm going for. Barrier and Digi Clone. I deploy my Barrier Dome and Deploy my Digi Clone In side the Dome. I go in for a Strong Push and I try to make it fast with a shotgun. If I get very damaged, I quickly Switch places with the Clone. I recover health in The Dome while the Digi Clone does some work. Very useful
@@DrZom Even if you die, you can still be resurrected at the cost of a clone. But you can play in different ways, in dangerous situations it is better not to run forward, there is no need for this, you can run forward on light enemies in order to clear them out faster. Also, I don't take the Dome mod, because it increases the cooldown by 20% and that's a lot, in battles with bosses and simply strong opponents, protection from all sides will not help much, in contrast to using the skill more often and having additional enhancements from other mods. And so, in boss battles, there is always at least one ability to protect yourself.
The second way to go through the game as easily as possible is if there are two Mozes, they simply call the robots one by one and sit in each other's turrets, which makes them almost invulnerable, and they also don't need weapons. On the other hand, two Zanes will also be immortal, but at the same time they will do less damage than Mozes if they have bad weapons and destroy everything in a matter of seconds if there is a good weapon (the clone can be given a rocket launcher, because the clone has no restrictions on the maximum ammunition).
Barrier and Sentinel for me. If youre getting extra weapon damage from walking speed combined with picking up the Barrier and your Drone cleaning up youre basically unstoppable
I use the shield and drone combo, with most of the drone skill tree maxed out. I equipped a class specific item that also allows for extra speed in terms of movement as well as reloading and fire rate. I have the drone set with the ability to drain shields from enemies and a couple other things. When you get used to the quicker movement it makes Zane INCREDIBLY badass to play as. It's kinda like playing as a Scout in Team Fortress 2, but slightly quicker. For the guy in this vid to say it's a mistake playing with two action skills as Zane means he has no idea what he's doing with him.
Made a Moze to start, then FL4K, now finally trying Zane. Moze has been frustrating lately but I still wanted a similar playstyle to Axton, which both Zane and Moze provide.
While Moze carries over Axton's explosive skills and grenade fun, Zane takes Axton and Jack's killskill playstyle and runs with it HARD. I love killing an enemy and then becoming this massive hurricane of death and destruction with bonus damage, movement speed, reload, fire rate, etc. You zoom around the battlefield and can shred enemies like tissue paper.
I'm only halfway through normal mode so far with Zane, but I'm glad I started him fresh after his recent buff, because he is insanely fun to play right now (As far as leveling goes, can't say for endgame just yet.)
They don't mention that the shield boosts gun damage when shooting thru it by 25%
I’ve been doing perfectly fine using both skills. Clone and barrier. Plus barrier is a dome. You get more than enough grenades with the skills he mentioned. Using transfusions grenades also means you have an almost constant amount of health coming in. Also a skill that will sacrifice your clone for a second wind which is great for solo play
Also duct tape mod with a single shot jacobs shotgun paired with atlas pistol and rifle . Why on earth you would use cov weapons with zane i don’t know
Who needs a grenade slot with Zane?
Both the Clone and the SNTNL have a perk that allows those skills to use grenades when activated and a perk that has you throwing a grenade on the first shot of a full clipped gun.
Honestly I've found the clone and drone combo to be the most effective in solo so far. Remember theres no wrong way to play the game though!
The barrier is too useful for me to put down. With the dome upgrade you're pretty much invincible for the duration.
My strat is to use drone with shield barrier. its useful with bosses
same.. It's nice DPS plus Defense thanks to the clone, and the greneades are plentyful
Mid tree the clone can revive you from fight for your life with Old-U. It's pretty clutch for solo play.

Using Sentiel, Takes me back to BL1 and the use of Bloodwing.
Actually the clone's grenade ability transitions whether grenades are in the ability slot or not. Just keep them in your inventory slot and the clone uses it anyways. I earned shit tons of money using Tina's special money grabbing grenade while having my digiclone and the sentinel active together. Once the drone starts giving movement perks per kill and shooting hailstorms of rockets instead of bullets, and the clone starts building health and damage perks, they both stack Zane and themselves with overlapping boosts. With both their kill skill perks, they become a mini death squad. I've literally walked across a battlefield without shooting a single bullet while the drone and clone kill everything in sight. And when you add the hailfire perk(I forget what its actually called) the drone gains duration or even resets the duration for each kill within the drop zone once you've fired it(can only do it once though). And the stacks you get continuously increase per kill until the percentage increase slows to a crawl, then the duration finally stops extending. So you can pretty much keep upping the pain train on your enemies over time until the perk extensions become so minimal that they stop working. Eventually both run dry, but in the mean time THEIR kills boost YOUR stats and health(and vice versa), while TAKING the damage you suffer from enemies AWAY from you at the same time. So by trading the Barrier's extra shielding for others, you get massive speed and regeneration for yourself.
To anyone reading the comments and wanting actual advice, I picked up an expensive anointed Torgue gun from Crazy Earl's vending machine. The anointed ability Regens 12% of my gun's magazine while the Digi-Clone is active. It doesn't tell me how much bonus the sticky gyrojets do, but instead of just 16 stickies, i was getting about 25 in a magazine. took my boss damage through the roof. 1/3 of boss health in a single magazine. crazy stuff. going to have to experiment more.

Best gun with Zane using Duct tape Grenade skill, Tediore. I have a Tediore SMG with homing 5 mirv. Throw Digi-Zane from where you would throw a grenade.
Don’t swap with Digi-Zane if he is surrounded. Use that advantage, and use the map to keep an eye on him.
When you spec the digiclone tree grenades aren't really important because they'll get used no matter what so you'll be able to use 2 skills at the same time. I use clone and barrier and it's perfect just throw the shield and spawn a clone and you'll do mad damage when my skills are active every first shot throws a grenade and the clone throws grenades too while spawned so don't worry about losing your grenades

They are saying it's not the best thing to use 2 skills for Zane. That is stupid, what I do and tell me if this isnt viable:
I use the shield and digi- clone, I place a clone in one spot, flank the enemy them place a shield down and start laying down fire. Dont let this noob tell you how to play. By the way all while playing solo lol
I use the drone + clone, I dont need to throw grenades when they both are doing it for me :D
You are the first person that I've seen to use clone and shield like me. In earlier game I found that enemies tend to Target the clone when you put him down. and you get a clone.and later on you can have the clone hold the same gun as you.this makes the clone a must have.
Any particular reason you had 3 character guides come out at the same time but not amaras???

I use the digi clone to get all the grenade bonuses and then use the sentinel with the drop a grenade so both my skills are grenaded up
I mostly use the sentinel tree but i also run a digi clone so i can self res when solo
I think DigiClone and Sentinal. Together sounds like what id do in the beginning
They are right about one thing: Sentinel is a horrible skill until mid-tree. Without the radiation laser and other abilities it does very little on a battlefield and might seem like a useless perk at first. It’s worth it though.
What is with the sudden errors on playstaion while playing BL3?
Here’s a better guide for y’all: play Zane like you’re a one man army not a grenade spammer, you can use sntnl to focus on an enemy and you to deal damage to another person killing two birds with one stone, your digi clone feels more like you’re swapping from one P to two P, you get in a lot of trouble and you just disappear out of there, you can use it as twice as much fire power, and the list goes on, and the barrier is just an extra shield, not much to say, very useful in some areas with little cover, and not so much in other cases. Disagree with me? Please give me your opinion or your thoughts but don’t just say “You’re wrong” without elaborating
My guide to zane is max drone talent tree, put one skill point on shield then voila your set for life
I am a Shoot and Hide, Run at them when they are wide and open. So I just use The Sentinel and Barrier. I always carry it good up close Shot gun and Carry long ranged range weapons. 1 Shotgun, 2 Snipers, 2 Pistol

i personally do not have the game but when i do i wanna see the good skins you can use i like looking for both style and tactile use if i cant find both i pick the best moral choice which would be the next highest character with said style. i just wanna see those good looks like in bdl 2 with zero, i mean he looks cool has pretty darn good looking heads and he just looks great with the right skin to match what i am saying is i want to fnd the best looking zane look with my personal standards so far i found overal nice looks but i want to see the rest of them i want to find that golden look. the one you first see and know that one is gonna be it for the rest of my playthrough and i have found decency just i want more im hungry for information that sadly i canot get myself

Neiloch well you and your abilities take from the same grenade pool so you don’t get double the grenades. Plus Zane was built off of using 2 abilities so there’s wasted potential. I also never said there be grenade use, you just assumed that.
You guys do realize that even if you have two skills, your clone still throws grenades right? Just because you have 2 skills doesn't mean the grenades disappear, it's still in your slot. As long as you have grenades in your slot, the clone will start throwing them. Only problem with having two skills is that YOU can't throw grenades, but your clone can

You can unlock an ability that makes it so Zane has a 1/3 chance of shooting a grenade out of your gun on the first shot of his magazine also your clone will throw a grenade when it first spawns and when it leaves. Use two skills. Don’t listen to this guy. 🤦🏽♂️

This is a really bad guide. Sentinel is the most useful early on unless you want to be hunting down grenade pickups and waiting for the digiclone cooldown and dying the whole time. Sentinels' shield recharge and movement speed buffs plus the life steal make you pretty much make you a speed demon vampire with a pet drone, all these skills you can get pretty early on

I use digiclone and sntnl and its constantly raining grenades from both of them. Get mirv grenade mod and it's pure chaos. This "Zane expert" does not know what he is talking about.

I’ve done multiple builds since I’ve got the game and full grinded and the best so far is clone and barrier trust, only thing is it takes awhile to get really good kill skills

I also planned on doing a clone barrier build but it seems like it takes so long to get going that I felt like it potentially wasn't as good as it seemed. Which tree do you think I should focus on first? Clone or barrier? I've been focusing on clone, but specced a couple points into the first barrier ability with action skill cooldown rate.
Schnabs921 what I did was until like lvl 25 I used sentinel/clone for the kill skills and grenade use but after that I switched to barrier and i more focused on clone, tbh tho with any solid build for Zane it all comes late game so try both and see what u like
What an ill-informed guide. The grenade skills are there SO YOU STILL HAVE WAYS TO USE GRENADES WITHOUT MANUALLY THROWING THEM. Unless you are going for a grenade centric build (just go Moze), you should always take 2 action skills, as that is incredibly strong. Clone for survivability and damage, drone for damage, and barrier for survivability.
