- In my last video I went through all the characters and how they work together to create synagies and combos so if you plan to group, you can group more effectively. However in todays video I wanted to show you the best builds for each character if you plan to play alone. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that - who needs friends anyway. If you do plan on running with friends, these will still be helpful to your group as you will either be dishing out the pain, controlling the enemies, or never dying. Character choice in Borderlands 3 will be more valuable than ever as characters are much more involved than before.

I've been micromanaging builds for Amara, Zane, and two for Moze so far and it's kind of funny how different our ideas are. Good video though - love the input. Can't wait to put theory to the test.

On the Moze build, going by the descriptions, I'm not so sure the splash damage skills from the Demolition Woman tree will apply to Iron Bear. They all say "whenever Moze deals splash damage", and the radius one applies to "all splash damage dealt by Moze". However, if you look in the Bottomless Mags tree, Cloud of Lead and Stoke the Embers both say Moze AND Iron Bear. Since those specifically mention Iron Bear and the Demolition Woman skills don't, I would say they don't affect Iron Bear unless the wording is an oversight by the devs.
I'm here to tell you, after all these years, that your solo build for moze inspire me to do a similar one. I did invest in the bottomless mags till I got the explosive miniguns and the specialist bear. But the aditional skillpoint I spend in the demolitiin woman to unlock the nuclear rocket louncher. I am a late player but I'm having tons of fun 🥰 thank you for the help here 😊

Awesome indepth video! I was set on Amara because I love playing as the siren but I think I might save her for a second character or third. Zane's mechanics seem so much more fun and is open to a lot more different weapon types. This great analysis definitely earned my subscription :) keep up the good work.

And with the weapons (i forgot the name for it) that have bonuses to certain perks and passives, that adds more flavor to builds, just makes it all more diverse.

Towards the bottom of amaras fist of the element tree there is a skill that heals you whenever you deal elemental damage and with an infinity pistol it’s really strong you can stand right in front of badass enemies

zane with digi clone and shield gonna be cool pop your shield and your clone behind then rush do a bunch of damage and switch to your digi clone and start buffing your own damage whilst you recover!!

Death follows close will also increase the effect of pocket full of grenades to 25% regeneration per second and increase the length to 15 seconds. After you get your max grenade capacity to only 4 with a lvl 31 build you regen a grenade every second. At that point just get rid of the SNTNL and run around with a cryo gun throwing infinite grenades.
My moze build focuses more on SoR tree getting powerful sheilds and high damage from cloud of brass and pharalax doctrin. Then go down the demolishion tree and focus on skills to keep iron bear healthy and grenades. If something does kill me I can throw grenades while down which heal 20% per hit.

Definitely picking Moze just because I’m also a Metal Gear Solid fan and the iron bear reminds me of a little Metal Gear Rex, especially if I add a rail gun for fun 😅

Just to clarify for amaras " One with nature ", it's 40% reduction for her action skill element ( so fire, OR corosive, not all elemental damage )
You have more enemies with fire damage.
And more enemies with shield and flesh, or just flesh, then armor, so for me, using fire will be far more better then using corrosive element.
If you pair "schadenfrager" and "digital distribution" im pretty sure youll increase survivability a ton since when you take health damage a portion will be distributed to your clone and when your clone takes damage your shield starts to recharge.
Zane main and running the grenade build you layed out starting @ midnight.
that moze build seems OP as all hell.
Moze is gonna be my main, gonna be running a Chemical warfare salamander and a close the distance besr fist. Mix that with all the incendiary i can and screen get over here every 5 seconds.
Moze main fot me too, but I prefer shield survival (to the capstone) plus grenade healing. With vladoff aoe or torgue mirv it should be awesome

I have made a build for FL4K that gives good health regen and good critical damage. It uses two of the three skill trees, Stalker and Hunter.

Zachary Manning Not an invis build as it used the Master action skill, not the Stalker one (though there’s nothing stopping you from swapping it out). But otherwise, yeah, awesome sounding build. Has me thinking twice about Fl4k.
Honestly Amara seemed kind of dissapointing at first compared to previous melee characters like Krieg and Athena but after looking at her tree a bit more she has a lot of potential for awesome combos. For instance: Using Fist over Matter with Allure for that singularity pull dealing decent damage in an area and grouping your enemies closer and then moving in with Blitz to finish them one by one. Stillnes of Mind with Deliverance phaselocking entire groups of guys. She might be my first, though at this point it's getting seriously hard to choose...
I kno ur milking it with these borderlands 3 vids but im loving it and its keeping me from going crazy by waiting for its release so please keep them coming!!
That's a ridiculous amount of melee damage Amara is capable of. Brick and Krieg could learn a thing or three from her in that department. Your build kind of makes her a bit similar to a build I used for Athena in The Pre-sequel, a build I enjoyed immensely.
The jabber is the best pet not only does it shoot at things but the gun runner version pulls out a grenade launcher and I’ve seen it devastate enemies. I’d say go with the slag for the rifts best effects since skag is more aggressive but around u can’t go wrong with jabber
It even picks up barrels to throw at enemies
Amara with all that melee bonus and damage bonus from close up she seems like the best single target damage dealer. (Best solo survivability method, kill them before they kill you)
See I understand that the shared damage is smart with Fl4k, but I don't want the sweet lil babies to get hurt.

They're expendable and you'll get a new one anyways. Send the pawns in.

@@actualteddybear891 dont worry they cant actually die. theyll go down like players. plus alot of the skills in master and stalker will make the pet very hard to go down too. think of it as a spirit link between the two of you :)
I would use the capstone on amaras blue skill tree. Doubling up on action skills could be pretty busted. If an action skill has a 20 sec cooldown and im looking for a big burst, i would use the action skill, wait 18 seconds then use the second charge, then the new charge, the the second one again. 3 back to back.
Doing this on certain augments would surely be busted.

For the Zane solo build, would you recommend going through the Double Agent tree before putting any points in Hitman, or did you kind of go back and forth allocating points. Awesome content, as usual, and thanks in advance 😊😊😊
No, start with Hitman as the clone is not exactly the best at the start of the game. once you get some more points and spent some money on getting upgrades like grenades along with finding new guns (if you like this grenade build an infinity should be godlike) you will be able to swap and redo your build. At that point the clone will start doing even more work. and with low mag guns (again infinity) you will shoot grenades like crazy. But early on the damage you will get from hitman out ways the clone tree.
I suggest putting 3 points in the iron bank skill because of the requirements to go down more, plus it's useful to have more bullets in the mag
melee amara first then rouge invis style fl4k after oh yeah hype train
while I liked the moze build I think that a shield moze build will work better for solo than a damage based moze

Fl4k just T-Poses for his Dominance skill in the Master tree.
The fist shot has a chance to fire granade licks lips in infinty pistols

I like the Zane build but there are some big changes in my build compared to yours. The 20% damage per skill active is too good to ignore in the double agent build. Also in the shield build you can extend your up time with your skills with the CD reduction it offers. I can theory craft a 100% up time on a 20% damage bonus and a 30% up time on 40% damage bonus
See now for moze I'd base her build with either the defense or rapid fire trees and using her demolition tree to increase her mech time and add some ai to increase her survivability.
It sounds like I could use Amara to do a melee run just like I did with Krieg. Sounds fun. This might be the first time I play a siren.
Zane didgi clone main for me it looks like a hell of alot of fun
Think you missed a trick with Amara, similar to how Maya was arguably the best solo in BL2 you can use her phase lock ability to get badasses at bay which is so helpful solo except you can also get Avatar in the mystical assault skill tree and use phase cast or tandava with stillness of mind to lock any enemy hit by it twice every 28/35 seconds (every 14/17.5 secs or even faster with restless).
That crowd control is really quite good even for a short time. You can then stick bonus points in brawl to make her far tankier and if you wanted there's points spare after reaching avatar for find your centre and illuminated fist to get 150% more melee damage in your action skill element which is better with a pure brawl build but still nice with anyone. So she reduces damage via crowd control and gets health buffs and regen. Perhaps not as good solo as some other characters builds but solo I think this would be better than a long cool down action skill since she'd be defenceless on cool down.

Great video thanks. I don't agree with amara being on the last place tho. For me it's the best for solo for one simple fact : no opponent has the dps to kill you if you have max clarity samsara and helping hands, even bosses. Plus she's the fastest with mindfullness and has a self-res. These are all early game perks that makes your life easy till lvl 30 at least.
It's so hard to stick with one character when all characters have builds that are fun to experiment with. Add in the amount of weapons on top of unique gear to acquire and you're stuck rotating characters before even finishing the main campaign. It's going to be sooo much to do in this game, and I can not wait. I want to experience all the broken glitches and OP weapon sets prior to the fixes.

With the FL4K build which way would you level it? Getting lick thr wounds first then the other tree or all the way to dominate before heading to lick the wounds.
Hey Dantics, do you know how works "Blitz" and "Find Your Center"? I mean if it overrides is worthless the extra range, doesnt it, or did you just pick it for the extra damage? Nice builds btw ;)
I think Amara is a great choice for solo play, she gets massive damage reduction and health regen after using skill, plus she gains life steal for her elemental weapons. Plus she has all that bonus melee and elemental damage boost.
Would be dope if they gave the Siren a launch ability. Similar to the hawk guy from battlborn. It would add to mobility for that character, assist w dive bombs (action skill & ground pound melee) and be something standout. I feel like every other character is outclassing the Siren. This small change would completely change how sirens maneuver the battlefield
She could leave aoe dot damage in the spot she lands.. That alone will make her by far more solo ready.
The ability I mention in the build does sort of do that. You jump in the air and can coordinate where you land. It's quite devastating and does do more damage than most other action skills in the game. People don't realise but Amaras action skills hit the hardest out of all the Characters (Not sure about late game with gear).
i'm thinking maybe a moze build that focuses on shield, with a secondary focus on damage for solo play.

Yeah...there are plenty of awesome damage and passive bonuses in addition to the shield buffs in that tree. Phalanx Doctrine? YES.

I really want to play amara, but im a solo player. Im a krieg lover, I love having chaotic up close and personal fun. Which seems to me like I should either be moze or amara. I hope It doesnt end up being too hard with amara!

Santik Lingo yeah, i got her up to lvl 22 just trying to see if i can get used to her after i used all of the other hunters and i couldn’t shes just not as good
i take back i said, she is my fav now, really fun to play, cant melt bosses as fast as flak or amara but can easily outlive them both and look better doing it
Santik Lingo Shes ok, she can definitely come in clutch sometimes as a safety blanket when your in trouble, just not my favorite hunter
I'm gonna build Fl4k as a critting tank that gets perks for crit hits.
so im level 30 now and only played online once , im at chapter 13 . i just realized now that you can use more then one skill tree at a time. i though you had to use only one color skill tree. this is going to be a game changer if i can use pieces of all different trees at once. i basically just bought everything in the master skill tree.
the zane build with homing mirv healing grenades is what i’m gona run
HMH grenades have been my Pandoracorn, as in I can never find them! =P
Dantics, you're awesome. I appreciate all you're work. I like your zane build, but I did the reverse. I prioritized the hitman tree, primarily for the increased movement speed, damage, kill skills, health regeneration, action skill reduction, action skill duration extension, 40% action skill duration and effect, the ability to access all kill skills when using an action skill, and the ability freeze eneimes. I think freezing or slowing enemies will allow you to kill them easier, which procs kill skills, which in turn extends the duration and effectiveness of action skills. I supplement it with the digiclone. I like the cryoblast when switching places coupled with the cryo drone. I also liked the augment where the digiclone damage replenishes your shield. That couple with life steal should help with survivability.

No flaws :) I don't think it's hard to go wrong with Zane. Except going down the barrier path if you are solo. It all depends what weapons you get and how you like to play!
@@Dantics I agree. I think the damage output you're sacrificing as well as versatility isnt worth it solo, especially if you utilize Zane's cryo abilities and movement speed from the hitman tree. This will allow you to freeze or at least slow enemies which should result in you killing them before they kill you more often than not.
I'm running a zane build with an emphasis on the sentnl build and picking up the digi clone as well. Not really dishing out grenades (cause idk how it'll work in bl3) but making sure I make zane a pseudo pet master by having damage dealt by 3 different sources. Focusing on the hitman tree since bosses always have minions, probably won't do the grenade build until endgame. But with the build I'm running, when I get ONE kill, everything else dies lol

You can stack 100% gun damage and alot survival if focus on zane shield and clone
tran hao the issue with the shield is that it doesn’t deploy against some bosses...which is dumb. The sentinel also buff and rockets stuff like nuts.
Shield is fantastic though.

Amara looks the most interesting to me as I like to be fast moving. Zane looks to be the most powerful and fun as well, but i just dislike captain Flynt so much he has tainted my Zane opinion. All I wanted was a Thunderball fist, is that so much to ask Flynt huh? This is the only borderlands where I believe I will be playing all characters to max. I'm rather excited.
You deal with Captain Flynt doe like 15 minutes and that's it. Why hate him so much?
@@krounos1 He's a major pain when you start a new game. He's resistant to fire and that early that's all the elemental weapons you find. Also he has a terrible drop rate for the thunderball fists. And when he does drop it he throws it over the side. He's also a pain in the ass to farm cause it's takes a bit to get to him. Many more reasons.

@@MILDMONSTER1234 in the beginning he is. Tou only have access to fire weapons that early, and he is resistant to fire. Also all the ads and firenshooting out the ground. Maya early can handlenhime cause if her action skill, maybe actin and gauge too. But I played Salvador and Krieg. Tough at first

I think I'm going with Fl4K and using a mixture of the stalker tree and the master tree, I think the ability to be revived when downed by your pet is good and if you use the stalker pet it can shoot guns also, now also using the master tree, is just to buff it up, because no doubt that in the end game you'll have the best gear and will hardly die, unless it's to an op boss and I'll want to have a chance worst scenario and not want to run around helping stupid when it dies. 😂

Fl4k sounds the most Solo player friendly but Zane sounds so goddamn fun to play.

personally I think my Moze build is better for soloing. Less ammo regeneration and no need for explosives but adding more bear uptime, defensive skills from sheilds of retribution and adding drowning in brass: 60% gun damage on a kill skill outweighs the 10-20% damage bonus from explosives in my opinion...also cryogenic minigun paired with fire augmented rail rifle

She will have a lot more survivability with her shield 🛡 skilltree. And you easily go up to over 100% weapon dmg! 😉

Damn well now I REALLY don’t know who to play. I was gonna go with Amara since I love the Sirens and elemental weapons and was planning to invest heavier in Fist of the Elements. But I’m not a fan of Maliwans having a charge mechanic now so it may not work. I don’t like losing so much view with the Iron Bear but using Vladofs, other high fire-rate weapons, fire weapons, explosives and having ammo regen is very tempting. But so is that Zane build. He gonna be broken af.
Mr Mosty you can’t actually know if your going to be a fan of em yet. You may not be a fan of them now, but they have changed in bl3.
Would Boom Enhance be useless if you are using 2 action skills since you lose your grenades or do you still have grenades but with 2 action skills you can’t use them. I have wondered this since I’ve seen the skill trees and have seen that Zane has a few grenade perks in his skill trees. I’m just not sure how they would work if your using 2 action skills.

Is Moze’s ‘click click’ based on the percentage of ammo remaining or just the number itself, like shotguns with low mag capacity anyway will get the boost even if they’re fully loaded?
