Thanks for this! I haven't played borderlands in years and I noticed I missed some of this stuff already.

Number one is incorrect, I am lvl 47, and side quests i got at lvl 22 are still only 22, and so on, all my friends ran into that as well
Me: knows everything about this game
Also me: a video for beginners “oh have to watch this”
i'm lvl 50 and completed the game on normal and true vault hunter mode so is there anykind of raid bosses or something since soloing mayhem 3 is starting to get too easy?
I honestly gotta beat true vault hunter
Hahahahaha. Was just thinking that as I clicked on this
Best Borderlands and I've owned and still do all of them including presequal. It is like they took the best parts of all of the games and made a masterpiece. If you are just now doing a triple a not going to buy games move do it on another game. This one is too good and ties all of the story together. Literally even small told stories all make sense in the end. no spoilers here just all good fun.
Not yet. But they're rolling out the maliwan takedown soon.
Some games, during the loading screens tell you useful info about the game. I noticed some info on a loading screen earlier. It said: 4 is the correct number of chuggas before choo choo. Man that made me laugh.
But it’s 8 chuggas

This, this IS a usefull tip.
Wait.... I'm supposed to spend 30 Million on the SDU's and not the Slot Machines? OOOOopps
yeah, thats a bit annoying in this game, though with how easy it can be to die on bosses, I usually spend my money on slots unless I'm doing side quests or have enough money to buy a upgrade, losing 20K money because you were saving up for the 243k SDu....can suck.
Play a lot of proving grounds and you'll have money for days

@@UndeadBlaspheme I've gotten 2 oranges i think from them cache's and I've only done playthroughs of just the story once on 2 characters. It's not "typical" tbh but it happens.
I’ve gotten two orange trinkets in the cache- do they do anything special? So far haven’t seen anything special from having trinket on.

here's a tip i learned, in the accessibility menu theirs an option for mantle with forward. basically lets you auto mantle like in apex legends it really helps if you don't wanna spam the jump button to mantle things

Sliding seems to stop negative status effects like burning. Just discovered this earlier today.
thanx for the tip
It’s also a faster way of traveling too. Not really useful in escaping though as there’s very little to slide under. It’s like titanfall 2 though when sliding off of stuff as you seem to get a boost in speed.
@Josh H it does when going downhill
Can't say Ive once used the slide feature. Jumping is still the best way to move on combat haha.
@Josh H There's the Snowdrift Artifacts, which can double your slide speed, making you slide roughly twice as fast as you can sprint. Excellent for maneuverability and escaping.
I thought having different gun types was pretty obvious, RIP your brain whoever was holding 4 of the same gun type

You can fast travel to ft points and vehicles from anywhere, don't need to go to stations
This is the important things i figured this out on accident and abused it after unlocking mayhem 3. Park the car next to where the fight is and good luck
@@miguelortiz8350 you don't need to do that. You spawn at your last new-u station every time if you want to farm bosses

When I figured that out my uncle was like noway since he played the shiz out of all the other games (beat them like 80 times, he loves borderlands)
shooting water with elemental weapons adds an area of effect. Such as if you you incendiary weapon, it heats up the water and damages enemies who enter it
Mhhhmmmmm yummy spicy water!
I thought that the effect's just for shock abd radiation! 😑
Whaaaat? Thanks 👍🏾
Heres a tip: be aware of what elemental damage you are using. Its like rock-paper-scissors, fire beats flesh, shock beats shields, corrosive beats armor. The color of the enemy health bar correlates with which elemental is best against it. If you are using the wrong elemental, your damage will be greatly reduced.
If you find anything with “cost effective” in the name, keep it. It’s basically free double damage

shoddymonk 101 yeah it’s also on Atlas guns now. But yeah, just keep a look out for ammo consumption of your guns. And don’t always go with legendary guns just because they’re legendary. Most of the high end purple gear is better.

Both guns have been amazing for me. The smg has a huge clip and smashes shields. The assault rifle absolutely chews through health bars. Both guns are great
I was pretty disappointed, the good touch was so good
@@alexmason896 from my limited testing of the SMG it flies out of your hands if you let it auto reload. If you stop shooting and manually reload it then you are good to go. I could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time.
I absolutely love the respec. I don't remember it being this easy in BL2. I'm running FL4K and so what I've learned works really well is every five or so levels, respecing and finding a new way to play the character that most efficiently uses my points and abilities. Love the ease of use and ability to try a bunch of different stuff. Also something that wasn't mentioned is that it's based on how much money you have, so if you go back and buy a bunch of SDU's and a gun or something, then go and respec, it will be way cheaper.
Also Typhon's Log is one of the best sources for Borderlands lore

Another tip: Look up! It’s easy to always be looking at the floor looking for loot, but this game has some stunning scenery don’t forget to look up and admire the view every once in a while. 😬
Also chests hidden above ;)
I LOVE the graphics. Props to the artists who obviously put a LOT of time into creating the graphics of this game. Some of it is absolutely stunning!
The paint jobs on the "hijack target" vehicles change the sound of your horn. The flame paintjob you get from the heavy outrunner, for example, makes it play a sweet guitar solo that keeps going as long as you hold the button.
#11 if it ain't a Jakobs it's not worth using
This one made me happy
Correction if it is not The Duc it is not worth using.
If it took more than one shot, then you weren't using a Jackobs.
That's so true
Jakobs goes right into the trash, the first choice of dropping if I'm full!
Things that get you guns mailed to you: Zer0's assassinations, Hammerlocke's legendary hunts, killing 100 enemies with any brand weapon, crimson radio takeovers get you rewards from Moxxi.
Running Jakob’s pistol whole game never ran out ammo once
Sounds about right, they hit like a truck, don't need much ammo when it only takes one shot :)
unless you use the flood in which case a tumbler lasts about a second
TIPS:
You can mail loot to your friends in the mail system.
Also, to emote, press and hold the "start" or middle button on your controller. It took me forever to figure that out!
I was wondering about loot sharing, that's awesome!
Ah it also doesn’t tell you that if you do side missions you’ll be like level 18 before getting relics or class mods or whichever you get first
I'm level 43 and still haven't unlocked relics
Dude this is real tip, wait to do sides till you get relic or you will go most game without... I still dont have mine either and had to make a rule, keep going till you get it and dont stop for anything else. I suck at following this rule...
Wait i thought you get relics at certain level not certain part of story?
@@KyubiCloaks I don't think so. I thinks it's based off story missions
First relic I got was legendary and couldn't even use it til they were unlocked
Don't play two player splitscreen until it is fixed as well as the lag
Grossmesser1 You can change it in settings just put it to max
It’s not that bad unless one player is in a menu then it’s horrifying so just have your buddy limit his menu time

A helpful tip would be to hold off on farming until max level
I like to spend on increasing Backpack storage first, that way more items to sell, and the faster I can upgrade the other SDUs
You can slide into barrels to ignite them and send them into enemies
Melee also works to.
Me: has beaten the game already
Also me: ooh what didn’t they tell me
What they don't tell you is that Eden-6 is a 30 fps planet.
I get the worst performance in pandora
Make sure if on pc turn the graphics API to DirectX 11 and turn volumetric fog settings off. I average about 70-80 fps then 🤙
I had to change it back to classic controls... So used to the old one using d-pad to change weapons

Don't use four of the same weapon type?

In BL2, I personally would run up to two of the same weapon type except super early on where I never doubled up. The thing is, two weapons of the same type can be vastly different ex: Dahl vs Jakob’s sniper rifles
@@crazylasagna3576 pimp zero with different elements and you cant swap any gun except for aniper coz of the skill critical acension
Borderlands is a game that HIGHLY encourages you to respec and play around with your characters skills and abilities. Its one reason I love it so much. It reminds me of a deck of cards in a tcg. You have all these choices and it's fun coming up with synergies between your builds and gear.
Another thing with the vendors: Markus' vending machine at his shop on Sanctuary 3 will always sell weapons that are scaled with your character. So if you're level 30 the weapons he sells will be level 30 and so on so forth.
Im not sure if the game tells you this but i figured it out on my own but,
You can fast travel from anywhere on the map, you dont have to run to the nearest fast travel point, if you finish a mission, you can instantly teleport to sanctuary by accessing your map from your menu screen and selecting the fast travel point you want to go to

Not sure if it was pointed out in game, but if you jump high enough (like off a car, ledge, etc.) and then press your crouch button you perform a ground slam.
I noticed I did this by accident and couldn’t figure out how I did it, kept jumping and crouching or sliding lol
you jump at the peek then hold the crouch button to do the slam
Theres literally a side quest from ole Clappy that goes over this xD
Ohhhh thanks!!! I kept trying to jump and melee. I thought the took the ground slam out.. didn't think to crouch!
So you guy really took that long to realise there's a slam in this game like the pre sequel.
I've got one, if your inventory is full and you don't really wanna pick up a bosses loot for whatever reason, you can leave it (provided it's not stolen by other players in competitive mode) and gain them from the Loot Dispenser on the Sanctuary, it saves a record of Loot provided it's Blue or higher and the machine itself's not full and gives them to you there, just saves some time with selling other guns etc
Thank you. As a beginner I'm quite lost in to the mechanics of the game, and a bit overwhelmed with the whole universe. Very helpful!
Power through man. This series is worth it. I've been a fan since the first one oh, I've been playing this one since Friday as Amara. I love this game
Best tip for a new player: Stop watching UA-cam and worrying about legendaries and "best guns" and You have to do this!! Dont watch those videos! Just play the game at your own pace and do all the missions including side missions. By level 50 you'll be a borderlands expert and will enjoy the game 10 times more. Then your 2nd playthrough with a different character watch all the tip videos to find stuff you didnt the 1st time.
What the guy above me said.
I’m brand new too & also playing as Amara. I need to stop watching videos lol. Inventory management challenging to say the least. Next backpack SDU I need costs $27K!
@@jzofop money is easy to get in the game so you wont have to worry, but yeah focus on backpack SDU before ammo. What i did i upgraded my ammo to the first tier which it cost only $1,000 each pretty cheap then i focus on my backpack SDU, either way I recommend backpack SDU. Amara is a badass!
For Xbox and Ps4, Weapon shortcuts are unassigned. Head to "Customized" in the Controller section and scoll far down until you see it. Hope this helps

1. Pick up weapons all the time on missions and sell them
2. Check the “missed loot box” in sanctuary for guns you may have missed or can sell for quick cash

I wouldn't waste my time watching a video that talked to me like I couldn't figure out picking up guns = money.
Lost loot*
im saving all my goldenkeys for when iget to 50 on my character. no use in getting a low leveled one to just replace it by a green at level gun that performs better because of level damage reduction
Number 4: the game does tell you.....when you get the item the literal next step is to smash an eridium outcropping.
Number 3: the game tells you about the parts when you find your first hijack objective. Ellie tells you to bring it back to a catch-a-ride and then explains the whole situation iirc
Rachel Amanita Totally did it by luck where you get the item. I had been hitting all the iridium infested bodies before.
Yep, and when you get mail for a weapon (i.e brand loyalty objectives) it's rank continues to heighten as you level. It doesn't remain the rank you were when you completed the challenge
More tips that were probably obvious, but maybe not:
• Weapon Trinkets are equipped by selecting the empty square to the left of your weapon in the Inventory Screen (I seriously didn’t figure this out until accidentally hitting left while looking at a weapon’s stats... at LVL 30)
• FL4K’s pets will annoy you after a while. They walk around in front of you when trying to interact with items, chests, etc., they will bump you around when they get close, and the Jabber makes noise constantly. They are indispensable for solo players but they will ruin emotional moments (nothing like a touching scene punctuated by my Jabber walking straight through talking characters making noise) and just generally get on your nerves outside of battle. You’ll love em’ at first, and then you’ll wish there was a way to tell them to stay.
• You can use the Lost & Found system as extra storage for weapons you want to sell. Blues and above will go to the L&F on Sanctuary so instead of picking up a blue or above that you know you’re going to sell just leave it on the ground (you can view the weapon card without picking it up by just putting your reticle over it) and it will end up in the L&F when you head back to Sanctuary. This does not work if you pick a weapon up and then drop it, so leave it be. You can expand your L&F via SDU upgrades.
• Technical issues exist but some people experience more than others. PC players seem to be the hardest hit but I had some doozies those first two days on a X1S. Now it’s just menu lag and the occasional mission glitch that at most requires a quit and reload.
I’m sure I can think of more but I need to get back to playing.
How is telling us that fl4ks pet is annoying a tip? Haha
Pro tip for Moze players:
Just spec into the orange tree and unlock the fists for Iron Bear (the mech). There is actually little point in unlocking anything else, because when you get pissed off you can just run around and punch whatever it is that's annoying you IN THE FACE. Why would you not want that?
The game should tell you to bring a magnifying glass for splitscreen in order to read stats and text
Mick Danger head over to accessibility and max it out. Hope that helps.
Lmao very true
Holy Platáno accessibility options only allow to change subtitle font size unfortunately :(( but thank you
Thing the game doesn’t tell you no1

"Pinging system in Apex legends"
*sad EVOLVE noises*
things i don't understand the game doesn't talk about:
- are the percentage weapon stats on the bottom of a gun already factored into the numbers above?
- what is splash damage + how do i do it? (for the Amara skill)
- how do the overheat weapons work? if you unequip them, do they regenerate bullets?
Splash damage is any explosion. Grenades. Rockets. Torque weapons. Crits on mozee. All of the above.
Ive always wondered the same with the +x% damage on weapons. Is it already factored in or do we have to add that on ourselves to know the true stats
Overheat weapons fire until the heat meter maxes out, then you have to do a quick repair which will reset the meter. The ammo comes directly from your backpack, but does not regenerate
Shoot the Cube rotating in the middle of the map in Desolation's Edge (Nekrotafeya) - with different elemental guns for each face of the cube - the cube will then drop a lot of loot and vanish (and won't re-appear).
Of course, Do this on level 50 for best loot.
6:30 the best character skin is the default one, no changes to anything because everyone will change their character leaving your character unique. ;)
Genius
My piece of advice to new players explore the maps for a little bit so you can find some chests that way then collect all side quest you stumble upon and the do them before any main, mission that way you get good gear and level up a bit and by the time you're at the boss you can melt them easy peasy
Farm the Crowly family ASAP. It's in the area after Shiv. So do it over and over to get OP loot so early on. I got Legendary weapons at Lv5.
To apply weapon trinkets you go to the little box to the left of your equipped weapon in the menu and select them from there.
You can empty some of your items out of your back pack by dropping them off the map, it goes to the lost loot in the ship
You can fast travel from anywhere on the map to almost anywhere else. Like, You can fast travel from Athenas to Pandora from the map menu without a fast travel station. If you leave a car somewhere, you can go all the way across the map then fast travel back to that car. You can also slide into barrels to knock them towards enemies and shoot them out of the air for extra elemental damage from environmental hazards. It doesn't come up often, but it looks flashy and you feel cool doing it.
Respecing is easy and I recommend doing so often as you level up if you find skills you want to put points into that you can't or because you find stuff that better synergizes. Playing Fl4k, the Stalker and Hunter trees are devastating when used together. The skill Hidden Machine might seem useless, but in conjunction with Fade Away you get up to 30% extra damage for free, on top of all your crit bonuses.
You will periodically have weapons mailed to you in game, sometimes just from gun makers for using their guns. These will always be at your level upon being mailed.
1. Got a level 50? Got a bunch of trash 50 guns in your mailbox? Want another character? Claim those guns on your new character and sell them off for a nice starting bank.
Also, people forget you can trade in game. This includes money. If you got a level 50 sitting on millions of dollars, trade that money to a friend, have the friend go to Sanctuary, and roll your new level 1 character, and het your money back and buy up your SDUs for a solid start.
Also, do not finish Zer0's crew challenge. Save one until you hit 50. That way, you'll get a level 50 Lyuda in the mail. One of the most sought after weapons in game.
Quick tip when your gear is getting under leveled put your favourite guns in your wepon vault in sanctuary and sell whatever else you have rather then just swapping it for new gear
I think cause of me being a veteran borderlands gamer these were pretty simple tips lol but I think it’s just because I’ve played so much borderlands
it's for newcomers for sure
Except in BL2 it was totally reasonable to have like, 3 smgs and a shotgun lol.
Weird flex man
Do you think it may be because of the amount of Borderlands you’ve played? You only said it twice in one sentence so I wasn’t sure.
Note: the level scale only happens is you keep mayhem mode on. Or go to true vault hunter mode. Also a thing I wish that was mentioned: weapon manufacturers have different things that make them special. For example maliwan has a charge up before firing. Tourge has slow fire speed. Hypirion has slow reload. So not only should you space out your weapon types but also your manufacturers. Because those seconds of reloading can make all the difference
Actually I have found some guns on Marcus that lasted me several levels. Also when it comes to side quests I'd say it's better to try out stuff during the first playthrough, ezpacially as it would make it a bit easier with more levels and stuff. After you camplete the story you also unlock true vault hunter mode which allows you to replay the campaign with the same character and tougher enemies. Maybe better to rush through that one. Up to you though.
This was awesome! Thank you sooo much! I knew a lot of it but the pinging and the crew challenge were new to me, I post walk-throughs and this will be very very helpful! i'm adding a playlist of tips and your's will be the first!!! Subbing for sure!!
Jakobs guns are my favourite
eddie cornejo hardly used them in the other games but love them in this one
Austin Whitaker same here. The flood is my favorite legendary pistol so far
I find it to be way way easier than the older games. I’ve went back to BL2 now and much prefer that
I've actually gotten into a groove of respeccing nearly every time I go to the ship in my first playthrough.
Oh dang, that last tip was actually game changing, thank you so much!!!
The first thing it does tell you
I have performance issues
Can’t get it up? It’s ok man one day
Get a PC then 👌🏼
@@matzemazur794 the pc version IS the problem. Console version works just fine.
@@UnhandsomeJack It really doesn't.
@@Phallica-js7ht maybe for you. I've had almost no problems whatsoever.
This was for those that haven't even played 1, 2, and TPS
I’m absolutely happy I found you guys. You guys are the Walmart of gaming for info news how too ect ect thanks for all your hard work
As always, thanks for the tips @gameranx !! This game is awesome!!!
They buffed the hell out of the slot machines. Using the erudite one I have already pulled around 5 legendaries
Where as I've used eredium one at least 30 times and have got literally nothing
Jokes on you my infinite ammo moze combined with COV weapons give infinite ammo
A thing that some people miss is when you hijack a vehicle, it will have a number above it's health bar to let you know if there is a skin or part you are missing.
If you need to spend money on the vending machines, go for character mods and shields from Dr. Zed's machine. He usually has better options than what sometimes drops in these item classes.
Not to mention random legendary
The game thoroughly explains how to get different car parts lmao
Your bank now acts as your stash, meaning any character on your account can access these items.
I was actually really confused by that I actually had to search if there was a stache like bl2
So basically I can store stuff in my bank and then switch characters and retrieve it??
Phly McPhlison yes. Also the bank can now be upgraded to hold 300 items.
Also if you plan on doing a second playthrough in true vault hunter mode which becomes available after you beat the game the typhon chests dont respawn I would suggest waiting on finishing those till your second playthrough for some real sweet loot
Are they character or account restricted? Do they respawn if you change characters?
They've been locked through my first playthrough anyway... cant figure out how to unlock them
U forgot to mention, the guns in crazy Earl's vending machine, is either character spesific or action skill spesific. Meaning, u can get good boost for your build and action skill.
I think that's the "Anointed" descriptor means.
@@NATA5II yea I know :)
Things Borderlands 3 doesn't tell you. Good Jokes being one of them.
Honestly yeah. Best way to play is with voice volume down
I just figured out you can press down on the dpad and switch elemental types on some of the weapons. Shock to Corrosive or Corrosive to Incendiary. Huge help when I figured it out lol.
The game told you this at the start and then shows it on your hud and on weapon discriptions lol how did you miss this?
Just started playing this, in the area after you get the ship. I was falling asleep playing this game, some of these tips will definitely help me move along
Hey, brother! Thank you so much! Your delivery is always on point! I appreciate you!
Thanks a lot! You're awesome.
