Kaka was one of the most graceful players the game has ever seen. But alongside that grace came trophies, he wasn’t just graceful he was effective too.
This is the story of Ricardo Kaka; a life-changing accident, a devotion to god and a trophy-laden time in Europe.

In 94 Brazil lost their CB pairing, had to use their reserve choices and still won. They lost 7-1 to Germany and had only lost Neymar to injury at that point. Pretty sure it's not nostalgia.

As a Brazilian I think the same. Before, we used to have lots of players that could go to basically any team and be the main star, now we still produce a lot of stars, but not the main guys anymore.

      It's not nostalgia.
As a Brazilian, it was a time that Brazil produced so many high quality number 9s and 10s that Europe never recognized as stars or never had a big break through with the national team.
Number 9s - Edilson, Edmundo, Tulio, Washigton, to name a few
Number 10s - Juninho was amazing at Lyon, but was never a national team star, never played for a huge club in Europe, and it was the best freekicker taker in history.
Marcelinho, the same skill level at freekicks then Juninho.
Alex (made history at Fenerbahce). What he did in Brazil in 2003 was ridiculous, his was the best player of the world that year, and i'm a fan of the main rival of the club he was at the time.
Brazilians were a different class until mid 00s.

I always thought that Kaka's performance against United was over-stated. Yes, he was good that night, but Evra put in one of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen at Old Trafford. It was as bad as, if not worse than any of Maguire's shambolic performances. It's similar to when Ronaldo Nazario scored a hat trick. He was decent but that clown Barthez practically scored the goals for him.

If only there was something that could allow users to easily type in "Manchester United v AC Milan lineups" on their computers or on their phones - but to my knowledge no such technology exists. If it did exist then I'd call it something like "the internet" and term I'd suggest for searching would be something playful like "google search". But I very much doubt it will be invented, not in our lifetimes, that's for sure.

At least Milan brought joy to people. They were impossibly stacked. They started the 2005 Champions League final with:
      Crespo Shevchenko

      Seedorf Gattuso

That’s what for me makes the 2005 final even crazier. Liverpool’s team compared to AC Milan was nowhere close, as a Liverpool fan we scraped our way to the final. The Milan team had international superstars in every position. Liverpool had Djimi Traore, Steve Finnan, Jerzy Dudek, Vladimir Smicer, Dietmar Hamann. Gerrard, Alonso and (maybe) Carragher were the only top top players

A player who can win the Baloon d'Or against Ronaldo and Messi is necessarily outstanding. Brazil is missing a player like him in the midfield until today. It was expected Coutinho can do this function but Kaka was pretty over average. Coutinho his best will never reach the level of Kaka. Today Paqueta from Lyon is the best option for that position.
About the national team, Brazil has a good team but a world-class player like Kaka should have a place among the 11 starters.

"Arguably played one of the finest through-passes"... Not sure who could argue with that pass not being the best?
Maybe I'm biased as it happened against my team, but still to this day that's the best pass I've ever seen in my life. Absolutely destroyed the entire midfield and defence with one silky bit of skill.

    • @beast0blood
      @beast0blood 3 місяці тому

@@andyng5321 Good shout, I rewatched it back and I'd say that Modric pass was technique wise a better pass...
But I would still choose the Kaka through ball as it came from his own half and completely took out an entire pressing midfield and a retreating defence in one fell swoop. Plus it fell perfectly to the foot of Crespo too and was in the Champions League final.

@@beast0blood actually modric one was an equaliser in the last few minutes of the game, else they would have been knocked out, for kaka at least they were already 2 goals up when he did that pass, much lesser pressure

One of my childhood heroes it's a shame I somehow lost my AC Milan shirt with his name on it and the legendary number #22. He played with such grace and confidence. Unlike the other brazilian legends he wasn't a poor kid who played on the streets. He was that very rich kid who played with such humbleness. As they mentioned, his playstyle looks european, somehow. In contrast to the other brazilian players Kaka's comemorations were never about his greatness but rather thanking god and his teammates. That goal against Man U is so incredible and it simply illustrates how good he was.

Stunning, still remember Brasil - Argentina match when Kaka mamaged to get the ball in front of his 16 yard box then just leave Messi in dust and cruise past the defenders and slotting it past the keeper. Peak of his powers and the last guy to win Ballon d'Or before long lasting Ronaldo & Messi reign
