As a Swansea Fan, this was the height of a golden era for us. Absolutely loved this guy one of the best finishers I’ve ever seen live. So many great memories, the QPR debut, the goal away at Arsenal. Hope we can return to that level one day

Reframing the idea of a one season wonder into a "Bright brilliant comet which briefly sparked across the sky" ... is just a tear inducingly beautiful way to give an extremely talented player, robbed of his career by injuries, the true credit he deserves.
It has always bothered me that people call him a one season wonder when he absolutely wasn’t. That right ankle ruined his career, and even in his second season (with no consistent game time due to injuries) he was still absolutely outstanding when he was on the pitch. The reason his goal return was lower is because we had just signed Bony, who was scoring goals left, right and centre. This meant Michu had to drop back into a supporting role rather than a scoring one. That second season, he was still unplayable on so many occasions. His link up play between the likes of Britton, Ki, Cañas etc. and Bony upfront was incredible to watch. He was top, top class for 2 seasons and then the right ankle injuries ended his career. Far from a one season wonder.
@@silvesta5027 I guess it makes sense why he took such interest in English football. He lived there for a while and supports Leeds United (who weren't exactly front page news around that time)

Michu was part of Swansea at an amazing time for the club. As a fan, I was mesmerised by him when he played. We mustn't forget De Guzman, Dyer, Routledge, Angel Rangel to name a few. What a team!
To think that Angel Rangel joined us in league one and paid part of the transfer fee himself to move here as we couldn't fully pay for what was demanded and he loved the vision of the club and style that we played. We've had so many wonderful players come to us over the years. Here's hoping that our rebuild at the moment is successful and we see many new wonderful players again.
I think michu is a great reminder that most players need exacly the right system and role to work. Many great world class players dont reach their actual level because People around them dont realise their value to the team and dont wanna gamble with an unproven player.

That Swansea team with Michu was quite amazing. It was also perfect to humiliate anyone playing with a 5 star team. Angel Rangel, Routledge, Bony, Dyer, De Guzman...
I never knew injuries took their toll on him. In fact, I just thought he got lucky that one season. But let's be real, you don't get lucky consistently for an entire season, so it makes sense that his injuries set him back. At least he'll always be remembered in Swansea
Most players that retire early do it for injury reasons. Another example is Fernando Torres (retired 35) that never recovered from his 2010 injury, and was called a flop by the media when he played at Chelsea, Milan, and had his second spell at Altetico.

We all know Cissé's next seasons were just good. Michu was, above it all, entertaining. Just like Cissé, Javier Saviola or late Michael Owen.
I think most Swansea fans are proud of that entire squad and that entire season. To think that a decade before the club was sold for only £1 and avoided relegation out of the professional leagues on the last day of the season.
The best player I've ever seen play for us- will be a long time before we have anybody in his league again. He just had a natural ability and made everything look so effortless. You're right to say not a one season wonder- if he hadn't been struck down by (possibly self-inflicted!) injury problems he absolutely would've gone on to play for one of Europe's top clubs.
